GUILTY Australia - Five Lin family members murdered, North Epping, NSW, 18 July 2009

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/2014/05/12/13/09/xie-confessed-murders-to-inmate-court

Accused Lin family murderer Robert Xie allegedly told a fellow inmate that he had "martial arts training" and knew how to incapacitate people.

Lian Bin "Robert" Xie is accused of wielding a "hammer-like weapon" when he murdered his wife's brother Min "Norman" Lin, 45, Mr Lin's wife Yun "Lily" Li Lin, 44 and their sons Henry, 12, and Terry, 9 in their Sydney home in the early hours of July 18, 2009.

He is also alleged to have killed Lily's sister, Yun Bin "Irene" Yin, 39.

Xie, who has pleaded not guilty to the Epping murders, was charged in 2010 and taken to Long Bay prison.

It was here, crown prosecutor Mark Tedeschi QC told his trial on Monday, that he befriended a fellow inmate, known only as 'Witness A'.

During a series of recorded and unrecorded conversations it is alleged Xie "confided a number of things" to him about the murders.

Even though I know it happens all the time, I still can't believe that somebody that murdered people would brag about it to another prisoner!! Talk about lack of self-preservation. It blows my mind!!

Lin family ‘murdered with two dollar shop weapon’, court told

ROBERT Xie told a prison confidant that he purchased the weapon used in the bloody Lin family murders from a “two dollar shop” with “dummy cameras”, a jury has been told today.

Continuing his opening address in the murder trial, Senior Crown prosecutor Mark Tedeschi QC told the jury that a DNA sample, a small blood smear on Xie’s garage floor, was transferred from Xie after he returned home from the killings.

I swear psychopaths have an in-built self destruction chip!

Mrs G I'm noticing that too.
Maybe they think they're soooo smart & invincible they outwit themselves.

Yeah, I'm sure it's born of arrogance and the need to brag about how brilliant they are at getting away with murder.......but it still seems so STUPID!!!!

They evidently need that external gratification, even at the risk of getting caught.

Isisrising, your knowledge in this field is invaluable, :loveyou:

I was reading psychopaths can be born like it and studies show there is a marked difference in the brain.

Incredible that some psychopaths can use it to good advantage, others can ruin a whole country and others can ruin a family like this.
The longer I live the more people confuse me.

BBM

I'm still not convinced it's all 'nature'......I've yet to read about a psychopath who had a healthy childhood where they genuinely felt loved and secure. Their backgrounds -even when they may look okay at first glance - typically involve violence or sexual abuse.

I personally don't believe anyone is born a psychopath. I believe there may be a predisposition in the brain and, depending on your childhood experiences, it can bloom fully or lay dormant.

If someone with psychopathic tendencies was born to a family that emphasised the importance of empathy and really nurtured their children, I don't believe that child will grow up to be a serial killer. But if that same child grows up being devalued, dominated or abused, they may well go there.

Many people will disagree with me - it seems to be of some comfort to people to believe that some folks are 'born bad' and that it was nothing to do with the parents. I just don't buy that. There's always something in the background.....often hidden from public view. Our parents are always formative IMO.

MOO!!!:seeya:

Thanks sleepinoz, at first I thought he used Chinese nunchucks (Nunchaku) but it sounds he purchased a cheap hammer & it was so evilly premeditated he chose a shop with dummy cameras so he couldn't be detected.

Did Xie think if he killed the family his wife would inherit the News-agency? If so didn't he think about the teenage daughter who was overseas, surely she'd be the beneficiary?
Maybe Xie's wife next in line or trustee. WTH was he thinking and why??!!

Mr Tedeschi said Xie also revealed he had martial arts training and 'demonstrated on Witness A a pressure point in the neck which meant he could easily incapacitate his victims'.

Then, just before Xie had a committal hearing in July 2012 - the 50-year-old is alleged to have spoken with Witness A about embarking on a Plan B if the local court proceedings weren't successful.

This would entail Xie employing a contact of Witness A - a funeral parlour director called 'Harry' - to extract DNA from a dead Chinese man.

Witness A told Xie that 'Harry' would then plant this DNA on the murder weapon.

But it's alleged Xie then floated the idea of 'Harry', who was in fact an undercover police officer, finding a dead man called 'Rob' and planting DNA on him.

Lily, the court heard, suffered from a mild mental illness, which involved her imagining she was embroiled in affairs with men, Mr Tedeschi said.

In the year before her death she had written about an affair with a man called Rob.

Respectfully snipped, TGY :seeya:

BBM. Oh my god!! How shocking is that??!! It sounds like a fictional plot twist. Uggggh!!!

Isis, so because Lili suffered from a mild mental illness, which involved her imagining she was embroiled in affairs with men (Huh?) she had written about an affair with a man called Rob. So this bloke then floated the idea of finding a dead man called 'Rob' and planting DNA on him from a funeral parlour.

Jeez Louise! Mills & Boon

I think his 'roommate' was a cop & the confessions were taped.
OUR COPS ARE TOPS

I'm not sure if the words "mild mental illness" were the actual words from Mr Tedeschi or whether it's just the words of the reporter.

So I'm thinking this is probably closer to his exact words....& Xie had been trying to portray Lily as having a mental illness.

Mr Tedeschi said Mrs Lin had “occasional, cursory” interactions with other men, but that all of those people denied being in a relationship with her.

RL was there again on Monday

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-Gittany-spotted-Lin-family-murder-trial.html

So why IS Rachelle Louise at the Lin family murder trial? Girlfriend of convicted killer Simon Gittany makes second appearance in public gallery

I don't even want to give her a skerrick of attention  but.....I wouldn't be surprised if she's there to keep up her public profile, lest we all forget about her now that the trial of her own murderous swine guy is over.

She knows this is a huge public trial - and I bet you when asked she'll say it's because she's writing a screenplay.....like she announced at the Git's trial. Yeah sure......:floorlaugh:

Whatever the reason, it's totally weird :scared:

Case against Xie driven by a 'ruthless' criminal, court hears

As Witness A informed on Xie, during some 200 conversations with police, he began to understand what they "needed" and "wanted".

Not one of the conversations regarding buying a hammer, the sedation of his wife or his alleged motivation ("loss of face"), were recorded.

"At the end of the day the police case, it will be submitted ... was being run by Witness A. He fills in the gaps."

Mr Turnbull submitted that the crown case relied on assumptions that Xie was guilty.
