GUILTY Australia - Katie Foreman, 31, killed in arson fire, Wollongong, NSW, 2011

Another article from a few days ago.
Meantime, both Ms Foreman's parents told the court Rawlinson had expressed concern to them about Katie's friendship with Evans, who he said was a bad influence.

"He called her a 'scrag'," Mrs Foreman said.

"He said she was a nasty person and she encouraged Katie to drink a lot ... he was concerned she was leading Katie astray."

Mrs Foreman said Rawlinson also spoke about paying Evans to "go away" and said he "didn't like her".

However, prosecutors allege a series of text messages between Rawlinson and Evans in the lead-up to Ms Foreman's death showed Evans was having a secret affair with Rawlinson, and the pair wanted to "get rid" of Ms Foreman so they could be together.

I can't find anything at all regarding the sentencing of Wendy Evans?.
Aug. 2, 2013

A woman has formally pleaded guilty to the murder of Wollongong solicitor Katie Foreman, while three others are set to stand trial next year.

In court on Friday, Wendy Anne Evans stood before Justice Megan Latham and pleaded guilty to murder. She had previously entered the plea at the end of a committal hearing in Wollongong in June.

Evans will be sentenced in December, while the trio will next appear in court in November.

Can anyone else find anything regarding this sentence hearing on December 2?.

August 2, 2013

"Justice Megan Latham adjourned Evans' matter for a sentence hearing on December 2."

Hi enzeder!:seeya:

I haven't been able to find anything at all about it in MSM. It's very, very strange IMO.

I also find it very odd that there is no photo of WE available in MSM??! I don't understand why........

I can't find anything at all regarding the sentencing of Wendy Evans?.

This article is from June 15, 2013 in
http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/...ire-guilty-plea-in-katie-foreman-murder-case/
and might explain a few things but there are still any questions:

1. Wendy Anne Evans pleaded guilty to the murder of Wollongong lawyer Katie Foreman on June 15, 2014.

So would she now be in jail awaiting sentence?

2. Evans's lawyer yesterday entered the plea after the final witness in the committal proceedings had given evidence, stressing the basis of the murder charge and the facts of the case were still in dispute.

Is this why she has not been sentenced yet?

Would Wendy Evans have the right not to have her photo published? Maybe she did not have a Facebook page!

Are these the things which are still in dispute as claimed by Evans' lawyer?

1. Detective Senior Constable Payne investigated the cause of the blaze. Petrol had been found on the dead woman's clothes while liquid accelerant had also been found on the bedhead and near the bedside table. But Detective Payne was unable to explain why a dog used to inspect the home had not found any scent of accelerant on the body.

2. She could not tell whether KF had been in bed or where KF had come into contact with the flames or petrol.

3. Before death, KF came into contact with petrol and flame, the bedroom was the only place where there was direct flame damage.

4. Bedroom door had been closed at the time the fire had ignited. Although the door was found on top of the body, its hinges remained closed and the pattern of smoke markings was consistent with those on a wardrobe in the bedroom.

What are the implications of all this?

I then found this but nothing in the search. But there must be something there because of what is mentioned in this link:

Katie Foreman death: prosecutors reject plea on 4/2/2014

Bradley Max Rawlinson, 40, Bernard Justin Spicer, 31, and Michelle Sharon Proud, 28, are accused of murdering Ms Foreman, who died in a fire at her home in the Wollongong suburb of Corrimal on October 27, 2011.

Mr Rawlinson pleaded guilty before the jury to manslaughter over Ms Foreman's death

Mr Spicer pleaded guilty to break and enter and committing an indictable offence, namely, lighting a fire.

Ms Proud did not enter a plea.

All three have pleaded not guilty to murder

Should the thread title be changed?

What do we know about Wendy Anne Evans?

Aged 40yo

Lake Heights resident

Ms Foreman had represented Ms Evans in divorce proceedings, and also represented another member of her family.

They knew each other from court, too - a former employee of the Attorney-General's Department, Ms Evans worked for a time as a court officer at Wollongong Local Court

Lake Heights woman refused bail on murder charge on Dec. 21, 2011

Bail was also refused for Bernard Spicer, 30, of Whalan in Sydney’s west, and Michelle Proud, 27, of Eastern Creek.

39-year-old Woonona man (Rawlinson) was charged with murder and was refused bail

In addition to murder, all four have both been charged with intentionally or recklessly destroying or damaging property with intent to endanger life.

Each was arrested following simultaneous search warrants executed on homes in Lake Heights, Woonona and Whalan.

So all four have been refused bail.

The trial was supposed to be starting again today but I could not find any mention of it in court listings. Would this be because they have to find a new jury first?

I just found this on the Daniel Morcombe thread which was posted by Marlywings, a Mod:

Re photos. Once a person is arrested, because of our judicial system, it's classed as contempt of court to publish photos of the accused & is seen as interfering with the course of justice to show their true identity.

Ah, thank you so much for that info Estelle! :loveyou:

It has been driving me NUTS trying to understand why Wendy Evans appeared to be protected in some way by MSM.

Does anyone know when the re-trial will begin? It was supposed to be last Monday.

In a Darlinghurst courtroom yesterday, the trio formally entered not guilty pleas to a charge of murder. However, Rawlinson and Spicer both pleaded guilty to lesser charges - Rawlinson to manslaughter and Spicer to break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence, namely lighting the fire.

Crown prosecutor Chris Maxwell, QC, rejected the lesser pleas.

Alleged killer bought lover ring: court

A man accused of murdering Wollongong lawyer Katie Foreman in a house fire allegedly told her mother that he planned to pop the question with a $30,000 engagement ring.

Rawlinson also told KF's parents that she was pregnant to him at the time of her death. He even lived with them after her death for a while. All this after plotting her death with Wendy Evans but making sure he was nowhere near the crime scene, and telling Wendy Evans he loved her so much that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. I wonder if Katie's alleged pregnancy could have been the catalyst for Rawlinson's masterminding of KF's death?

Katie Foreman’s estranged boyfriend and alleged killer told a Salvation Army officer just hours after his arrest that he’d organised to have the Wollongong lawyer ‘‘scared’’ but had no idea she was going to die, a court has heard.

Bradley Max Rawlinson also said he was prepared to ‘‘go down’’ for her killing if it meant keeping his family safe from his co-accused, Wendy Anne Evans, Salvation Army officer Raymond Lotty told a jury yesterday.

Mr Lotty said Rawlinson told him: ‘‘If Wendy thinks I’ve dobbed on her I’m dead. She’s already threatened to hurt [my family].’’
