She was in foster care as per this article

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ng-overcome-criminal-past-regain-custody.html

The girl whose body was found in a Queensland river a week after she went missing was in foster care and had often run away from home, a former carer says.

As police stepped up their investigation into whether Tiahleigh Palmer, 12, was murdered, details of the girl’s troubled have emerged, including that her mother was hoping to regain custody after spending years in and out of prison.

Her former foster carer Julie Pemberton says the girls’ mother Cyndi Palmer, 30, was preparing for a custody hearing as she believed she finally ‘had her life on track’ after struggling as a teen mum and spending years in and out of prison.

OMG how heartbreaking. She (mom) is trying to get her life back on track and now this. So tragic all around.

The dropped off by cater statement sounds odd. Do not mum or dad?

MOO!!

Having worked with foster kids previously, I don't find this statement odd. Carer is sometimes preferably to saying Foster Mother/Father.

I can imagine most people aren't aware, but it is actually illegal for a foster carer in QLD (and presumably the rest of Australia) to provide confidential information about a child that is currently or was previously in their care. Especially to the media. Penalties apply, I kid you not. This definitely counts as confidential information, and the Daily Mail has actually quoted the carer with their name and everything.

She was wearing a Marsden High uniform, not a Woodridge one.

Here you go, this is the bus route:

She would have had to change buses, but if she was heading towards the Gold Coast or Surfers it would have been possible to take public transport to get to where she was found.

Here's a more detailed shot of the same map showing the school and the McDonalds ..

She could have even walked over along the grey line to the bus south if she had wanted to.

‘Apparently she just caught a random bus and wasn’t getting off until she got to the city.'

My thinking is she either decided at the changeover to head South to the Gold Coast instead of North to Brisbane, or she met someone on route who befriended her and they steered her in that direction.

Here are the buses nearer to where she was found.

Another possibility is she befriended someone who offered to take her by car, and she accepted :(

Police should be able to check her student go card account to see if she caught a bus and where and when she got on or off.

The Daily Mail did not name the current foster carer, only a previous one. Maybe she was given permission to speak about Tiahleigh as this is now a homocide investigation. Rules change for homocide cases sometimes.

Is that true, though, that she was unclothed? I may have missed something, but on the TV news I've only heard that her uniform and bag are missing.

I was hoping she'd changed into casual clothes too ..

Are these trucks parked off the road near the bridge on the satellite Image? I wonder if it's a regular truck stop and if there may be any truck drivers who may have spotted something unusual ? Or smaller trucks which may utilise this road may have dashcam?

Oh yeah, it sure looks like it. Dear god, maybe this area was used as a truck rest stop, this gives me a sick sinking feeling .. I dread to think what happened to her.

She was clothed but her bag and her uniform are missing
