I haven't read back far enough, but I'm sure it's been asked. Is there any chance he could be a victim of Israel Keyes?
IK was at his grandmother's 90th birthday party in July 09.
I have searched and I can't find out when in July the party was. I was just wondering if by chance Mr. Harrod had been a guest at the party or perhaps knew the woman.
I'm not even sure how close she lived to Mr. Harrod, only that it was Orange County CA.
I was just thinking about their ages being 80 & 90 at the time that possibly their paths may have crossed.

It's just been nagging at me for a few weeks now. ~ so I had to ask.

I don't know what the IK timeline is. I'll have to look it up.

I think, because IK was such a high-profile case and there was such an extensive search for potential victims, LE would never have made their statements about Bob's disappearance being someone close, someone known, etc, if they thought there could be any link.

Do you know if IK usually took his victims with him if he attacked them in their homes?

Trouble is, even if we could whittle IK's timeline down to the exact time he could have been cruising through Placentia, it still wouldn't help. Nothing will, until the last known person to see Bob actually confirms what time that was.
 
Mmmm.

Just a quick read makes me think he killed for violent sex with females - which he didn't want to admit to, as per many sex predators - and for money. I'm sure JuM would have noticed anything of value missing from Bob's house, and I can't really imagine IK not taking anything.

JuM has gone about missing candelabras, but I can't imagine IK going for them when he had the contents of three safes, stamp collections, bags of gold coins etc to choose from.
 
I know we are not allowed to be rude about people, but Israel Keyes seemed to be a complete, game-playing, slimey creep to me.

No kidding! IK did kill an elderly couple. Some of his victims were never found. The elderly couple weren't. Their story is so sad! Let me find a link.
*this was what struck me about Mr. Harrod. IIRC his home did have an attached garage... it fits the type of home he would hit.

I wonder why he looked for no car in the driveway? That would suggest no people would be in the home......Fine for a robbery, but not if you are looking to kill someone.

Bob's vehicle would have been in his driveway, by the way.

I think because he checked out the interior of the car before he broke into the house... I thought that was odd too.

I didn't know where Mr. Harrod parked his car.
Like I said it was just a nagging feeling I had.
I know for a fact that IK was in California July 2009. For the 90th birthday party.

The 10th- 12 th. So maybe the grandmother's birthday was then and not near the 27th.

It seems from the 9th to 12 July IK was in/travelling to from CA, but the rest of the month is a bit of an unknown?

I'm saying Bob's car would have been in his driveway before he vanished, but actually we don't know. The only first hand public account from the day he disappeared has come from the housekeeper. I can't recall if she mentions Bob's car being on the drive - I'll have to look at the Disappeared transcript.

We know the car was on the drive after Bob disappeared as it appears in news videos, and a police welfare check also mentions it, from the night of the day he disappeared.

* In addition, Robert's family tells AMW he is a member of a Masonic Lodge, enjoys fishing, Lake Tahoe and playing slots in Laughlin, Nev. and at local Indian casinos.

IK spent time on indian preservations working in construction and in Lake Tahoe as well. I don't know if he was a fisher.

Didn't Mr Harrod disappear after going to Home Depot?
Project Jason also said police didn't believe it was a stranger that harmed Mr Harrod.

Just a few coincidences. I pray he is found someday. I wish he could get justice!

Ugh. IK sounds more likely to be putting things into the water than fishing them out. He really gives me the shudders.

It is a coincidence, I agree, though I struggle to see a way Bob could have met IK at those places as he didn't go out, according to his daughter, and always used his son in law for any work in his home, with the exception of grass cutting and carpet cleaning, for which he hired other people.

Bob's daughters did eventually release some info about places he liked to go, such as the lake and casinos - I think one them also mentioned old ghost or mining towns too. But they all said Bob had stopped going out after Georgia (his first wife) died in March 2008, and police and Bob's best friend backed that up, saying he had become almost a recluse.

Since then, it has been learned that Bob and Fontelle went out quite a bit when she came to OC, but if he had met IK in that month or so before his disappearance, Fontelle would have known.

Bob didn't go to Home Depot, his son in law did. More than once that day. Apparently.

O/T Gngr snap, your name is really reminding me of something I used to love eating at Christmas. I bet I won't be able to find the syrup to try and make them here though, even if can find a recipe and clear the oven of its last inferno ( I set fire to potatoes, for heaven's sake!).
 
I put off any preparations for Christmas until there was some news about Bob's case. I was sure there would be some.

As I've left things about as late as I can, I have made a belated start now. I am still hoping for a tiny mention of Bob somewhere though - in media, a word from police, a church or charitable org sparing a thought for him? If anyone spots anything, please let us know.

No the SIL supposedly made two trips for home repairs. Then later, it was found that there was a huge issue in the upstairs bathroom; the sink and or toilet had been smashed. So there was an altercation in that home JMO from reading all the links since day one.

I have my No 1 Suspect and I think LE does as well.

scroll down to Oct where Bob's case is discussed, I find it odd that his "sil" went out searching for someone else, in Oct. So that is something I was not aware of.
No new news. No searches, nothing. I think that LE needs to verify whether or not the youngest DD and sil had any storage facilities, or any property they rent out or any garages that they may own....because I feel that he is dead because of the will, because of his marriage and knowing that the youngest also didn't participate in the documentary...speaks volumes to me. This is my personal observation on this case. Has anyone gone around to all the nursing homes in the area and gone in with his photo and flyer and asked if they have a patient that resembles him?
Because if I were "family" I would do just that.

He is such a sweet looking old man.
He looks like I used picture grandfathers when my mother would read me stories. I just want to hug him!

JMO his glasses and his car were left at home.
My daddy is 78. When he stretches out on the couch for one of his many cat naps each day, the glasses come off. but the keys and the wallet stay in his pants until he removes his clothes at night.
IMO he was caught off gaurd while napping.
Beyond that I am at a loss.

I think my favorite photo is the one with Bob cuddling his dog, Sassy.

His younger photos show him as a handsome young man, and I'm intrigued by the photo that was flashed up during one of the early news items. It's a picture of Bob with a camera slung around his neck, and just something about it makes me think he was a keen photographer at that time.

That could mean there is a whole heap of Bob's photographic work somewhere (I doubt he would have thrown it away). It would have been nice if one or two could have been released - to help people get more idea of Bob as a person, rather than just a missing person, if you know what I mean.
