Trial was set to begin on 9/18/23 for Monica was continued due to Baker’s guilty plea.

7/7/23 Update: Baker admitted (plead no contest/guilty) that he killed celebrity hairdresser Fabio Sementilli on Jan. 23, 2017, leaving him in a pool of blood in what was initially thought to be a home-invasion robbery gone wrong. He was immediately sentenced to life without parole by L.A. County Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen after a steady stream of Sementilli’s loved ones told the court how the mogul’s slaying did irreparable damage to their family. 7/14/23 Update: Because of Baker's plea, defense tells the court they want a continuance in the case to "re-strategize". The court agreed that this new development creates a complexity for the defense. There was a strong objection from the prosecution team. Judge Coen's calendar is booked solid. Judge Coen offered the parties October 2nd this year or April 2024. There was a tentative agreement to the October 2nd date. The next pretrial hearing is slated for 8/1/23. At that hearing, the defense will inform the court about their "readiness" for trial. If the defense still feels they are not ready, then the trial date will move to April. The only other possibility for an earlier date is if one of Judge Coen's other cases falls & gets pushed forward. Trial could be delayed until April, 2024.

Refresher. If the prosecution indeed has proof of the two communicating a murder plot, Monica is toast IMO. It makes no sense for Baker to plan to murder Fabio if Monica wasn’t using the life insurance as an incentive for his involvement. I can sort of understand the two girls standing by their mother at this time, innocent until proven guilty and all that. Unimaginable tragedy for a family to have to deal with especially all these years in limbo. JMO

Man pleads no contest to murdering prominent hairdresser, gets life in prison

A man indicted along with his alleged lover in the 2017 stabbing death of the woman's husband, a prominent hairdresser, at his Woodland Hills home pleaded no contest Friday to murder and conspiracy charges and was immediately sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole.

“One of the couple's daughters, Gessica, said her father's memory will "live on forever," but said she and her sister, Isabella, will "continue to stand by our mother as we have for the last six years."

One of the victim's sisters, Loretta Picillo, said that Baker and Monica Sementilli "ruined our lives" and said she was repulsed by the fact that Monica Sementilli had "mourned with our family."….

…….The prosecution alleges that the two conspired to kill her husband, with plans to obtain the husband's life insurance proceeds.

The two allegedly "communicated via cell phones and encrypted communication applications regarding their plan to kill victim Fabio Sementilli" and Baker allegedly "solicited an unknown co-conspirator to assist him in killing victim Fabio Sementilli," according to the indictment.

The indictment alleged that Monica Sementilli forwarded an e-mail to Baker about how to access her home video surveillance system, notified him that her husband would be alone on the afternoon of Jan. 23 and then left to go shopping to establish an alibi for the time of her husband's killing…..……

…….Monica Sementilli allegedly waited for her youngest daughter to arrive home to find her father's body before returning to their home, and subsequently called a Los Angeles Police Department detective several times to inquire why her husband's life insurance policy proceeds were being withheld, according to the indictment.…..

……Police said investigators believe Baker and Monica Sementilli had been having an affair for about a year and a half, and she stood to gain a sizeable benefit -- around $1.6 million -- from a life insurance policy on her husband…..”

Since Mr Seminelli was murdered in 2017 and the boyfriend of Monica pleaded guilty, how is the defense allowed to drag this case out all these years with respect to Monica? I don't get it-- I havent really followed the case, just know the bare bones, but this is disgrace----

Since the court site I can access only gives me court dates - nothing on any motions filed, etc. so I couldn't really tell you WHAT is taking so long on her case... sorry!

There is no argument for the defense to make by saying they need more time to study the evidence. If they truly need more time, then they are the dumbest attorneys ever to pass the bar.
