Convicted killer Robert Baker says his ex-lover Monica Sementilli had no part in the murder of her husband Fabio

In an exclusive interview, Robert Baker tells "48 Hours" Monica Sementilli "did not know" about the murder and had no involvement. Baker's testimony could help Sementilli in her upcoming murder conspiracy trial.

''Despite his reluctance to address most issues, deferring answers to "when this is all over" (meaning the end of Monica's upcoming trial which starts April 2), he was resolute about one point: Monica was not involved in the murder, as she is charged.
"Monica did not know. She didn't know s***. If she did find out, I would have been in here (jail) a lot sooner," he said. His claim was a bombshell. Monica, who has already spent nearly six years in jail, did not conspire with him to kill her husband Fabio, he said.
Despite what the prosecutor characterizes as overwhelming circumstantial evidence against Monica, there is no smoking gun connecting her to the conspiracy. A fact her attorneys are banking on for a not guilty verdict at trial.''

Thanks for this, I hadn't seen it. Sounds like they have some good evidence on her. Very circumstantial, but quite damning. Unfortunately I doubt this CA trial will be live streamed.

Did Monica Sementilli conspire with the man she was having an affair with to murder her husband?

In 2017, Fabio Sementilli was stabbed to death at his Woodland Hills, Calif., home. His wife Monica and her ex-lover were charged with conspiring to kill him.

''Fabio Sementilli was a superstar in the beauty business. He began cutting hair in Toronto, Canada, and eventually moved to Los Angeles when he was promoted to an executive position at Wella. He settled in a home in Woodland Hills with his wife Monica and their two teenage daughters.

On Jan. 23, 2017, Fabio was in his backyard by the pool when two people broke into the home and stabbed him to death. According to prosecutors, the suspects staged the scene to look like a robbery gone wrong. But when Los Angeles Police Department detectives began investigating the murder, they said they found blood at the scene that didn't belong to Fabio. And they said they also found evidence that his wife was having an affair at the time.''

''Monica's trial is scheduled to begin on April 2, 2024. Gessica and Isabella, the daughters she shared with Fabio, are standing by their mother. Gessica spoke at Robert Baker's sentencing and said, "we will continue to stand by our mother as we have done for the last six years, and we will fight for her innocence."

There are quite a few reasons I would find it hard to believe his wife had nothing to do with this murder.

1. She just happened to leave right before the murder took place and just happened to return right after their daughter found his body.
2. She just happened to upgrade the security cameras at their house to cameras that could be accessed remotely from a phone and then forwarded the login credentials and user manual to Baker on the same day.
3. She just happened to connect to her home's IP address while shopping at Target and consumed an amount of data consistent with streaming live video around the time of the murder.
4. She just happened to crack Baker's finger open with a racquet at the club and brought home the bloody towel (and that's why his blood was found at the crime scene).

Her attorney posited the theory that Monica could've been watching a TV show on her phone. Who watches TV as they push a shopping cart through Target? I might buy that if she were just along for the ride with a friend who was shopping and got bored, but not when she's out shopping alone. And there's absolutely no innocent or logical explanation for why she'd send Baker that security login information. The combination of these two things alone will be nearly impossible for her to overcome, IMO. And that bloody towel story? Not even remotely believable. She'd have been better off feigning shock about that news.
