Surely that msg was relayed. That would be the first thing I would have said and made certain the person I was talking to understood.

I agree. Which is why I am so confused. If the officers were told that there was a mentally ill subject, who was armed, and threatening to kill cops, why would they drive up to that house and be sitting ducks like that?

I would assume that the dispatch would have called out SWAT, not sent a couple of uniformed officers to try and detain an armed mental patient who hated cops. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Plus the initial reports were that the officers were responding to a Domestic Violence call. I wonder if the neighbor called it in as that, instead of the other vital info?

3 in 3 days here in the southland. Heartbreaking. All executed. Isn't it time we acknowledge that some people with mental illness can indeed be very dangerous to others?

I'm not defending what happened in this specific case, just addressing your comment generally - it's important to acknowledge if they are dangerous it's likely because they didn't get the treatment they needed.

One of the officers are set to retire next year. And the other has a 4 month old child. Heartbreaking.

I'm not defending what happened in this specific case, just addressing your comment generally - it's important to acknowledge if they are dangerous it's likely because they didn't get the treatment they needed.

There are people who mentally ill who know there is something wrong but they still refuse to see a doctor. I know people with mental illnesses who had to regularly check themselves into an emergency room until their conditions got under control with the right medication. They would rather have paid thousands of dollars in hospital bills than be a danger to themselves or others.

I don't know. It could have even been two different dispatchers. After all, we only know what the neighbor reports she said. When the 911 tapes are released we will know exactly what was said.

For me, I l know were the blame lies. Not everyone who has a mental illness doesn't know right from wrong. There is a shooter and for me, he's the one to blame for the deaths of the two officers.

RIP Officer Zerebny and Officer Vega. Prayers for their family and friends.

So true. I really am not wanting to blame anyone but the shooter. I just feel so horrible about the way these officers walked right into this severely dangerous situation. So truly heartbreaking. :rose: :rose:

Heartbreaking. Family disturbance calls are among the most dangerous for responding police, I believe. Condolences to the victims' families and their fellow Palm Springs PD officers. Speedy recovery to the wounded officer. May the shooter be caught alive.

#BREAKING #PalmSprings police just used a robot to breach the front door of the suspected shooter's house.

At around 8 p.m. local time, witnesses described hearing loud, flashbang-like blasts and then seeing a police robot drive into the area.

Reporter Brett Kelman said officers have been shouting, "Salga con las manos arriva!" ("Come out with your hands up!" in Spanish).

I had to return to work when my baby was 3 months. He remained at home for another month w my 18 year old son, me coming home at lunch. I can't imagine this w a 4 month old. So bereft
