The Sacramento Police Department collected 112 fired cartridge cases from the 2022 K Street shooting scene and booked 282 items into evidence, according to a forensic investigator who testified in court Friday.


Sacramento police detectives also testified Friday during the continuation of the preliminary hearing for the case. They recounted interviews they did with witnesses who were staying at The Citizen Hotel, which is located near the shooting scene.


Smiley Martin, Dandrae Martin and Mtula Payton face murder and weapons charges in connection with the shooting. Prosecutors have said they will seek life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The three suspected shooters are expected to be back in court on Feb. 9 as the preliminary hearing continues.

BTW, is LE gathered 112 shells, that's an average of 18.6 rounds per shooter.

Now we already know that none of the shooters could legally posses a firearm in California. Not one of the 6 identified shooters in this public gunfight.

Another layer of the situation is that California does not allow a magazine with a capacity over 10.

1/19/24 Update: The testimony came on the first day of a preliminary hearing in Sacramento Superior Court before Judge Maryanne Gilliard as prosecutors Brad Ng & Kristen Andersen seek to show there is enough evidence for murder suspects Smiley Martin; his brother Dandrae & Mtula Payton to face trial on murder charges. The hearing, which is scheduled to continue through Friday afternoon & resume one week later on 1/26/24 @ 9am & is expected to last into March.

Ballistics experts testified on Friday. A judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for them to stand trial on murder charges. Preliminary hearings continued on 4/2/24 @ 9am.

K Street shooting case: Witness recounts final moments with victim

The men accused of Sacramento's deadliest shooting in its history appeared in court Tuesday.

Ike Harris was with his cousin, 38-year-old Sergio Harris, in a club that day. The shooting happened after they left the nightclub.
Ike said Sergio wasn’t active in the Del Paso Heights Bloods, but he was still social with a lot of members.

The prosecution questioned whether Sergio had problems with a group called the “Loom Squad,” which are Crips gang members. Ike said he does not remember, however the prosecution highlighted a transcript of a police interview where he previously said Sergio always had a problem with the Loom Squad.

4/2/24 Update: Day 4 of preliminary hearing. The first witness called, Oshe White, was wounded in the melee a& later failed to appear, leading to him being taken into custody & ordered held until testimony scheduled for Tuesday. Next up was Ike Harris, a cousin of Sergio Harris, one of the six people killed that night. But as soon as prosecutor Brad Ng began his questioning by asking whether Harris had been at the scene on April 3, 2022, Harris invoked his Fifth Amendment right against testifying. After determining that Harris planned to answer other questions the same way, Judge Gilliard ordered he be granted immunity to testify. Preliminary hearing continues on Wednesday, 4/3/24 @ 9am.

2 years since the K Street shooting: Latest preliminary hearing updates

Wednesday marks two years since the deadly shooting on K Street in Sacramento that claimed six lives and left 12 injured.

Defense attorneys for each suspect are trying to make the case that Sergio was looking for trouble the night of the shooting. Manna has reported that the prosecution and defense have both been questioning Ike on whether he knew of any gang-related problems between Sergio, a known member of the Del Paso Heights Bloods, and other gangs before the shooting.

38-year-old Sergio Harris was one of the six people killed that night. His cousin, Ike Harris, was called to the stand to testify. He was with his cousin downtown on the night of the shooting, but when asked questions by defense attorneys, he largely could not recall the events that happened, saying he got information second hand from social media.
 
Unfortunately I can not access either one of the articles posted above... not in my region/country. To me it looks like the day before witnesses - i.e. Harris. And preliminary hearing continues.
