The release was reportedly a test of sorts. If remains are found with information from Shermantine, he will be let out again.

Leonard Padilla, a bounty hunter, said Shermantine was let out Sunday and is being offered reward money in exchange for bodies. Padilla believes the money is coming from the FBI and believes the reward will be paid to Shermantine per body.

Didn't Padilla tell him that he would pay him already and Shermantine is mad at Padilla for not ante up? Is the FBI now offering to pay for additional bodies too?

it appears that the FBI has made a deal to pay for bodies found. Padilla was trickling in the money, but I dont think Padilla really had any intention of paying Wesley the 33K.

This law maker who is bashing everyone over the head to get these missing people found, should get praise from every law abiding citizen.

One thing that I thought was weird.....in one article they listed the Law enforcement agencies and Hayward and a few others popped up. I wonder just how wide the hunting grounds were for these Psychos?

Just to be clear, are they talking about the same woman that was pregnant they found before (that was thought to be African American, possibly Toni Clark?) or is this a new woman and fetus that was found?

yeah the information is a little old made to look like new. The new information is that they took him out and he pointed out wells that he knew had victims. Wesley is trying to show he isn't pulling any games and is willing to show people where the missing are buried.....as long as they keep paying him. but as far as i know they haven't started digging yet!

But since Wesley hasn't lied yet I don't know why they haven't taken him seriously.

I'm currently updating that list. If anyone feels I need to remove someone I put in my possible victims list, due to circumstances being wrong or such, please let me know.

Local morning news says that the FBI were out on Flood Rd outside of Linden in San Joaquin County yesterday (east of Stockton). Aerial footage shows them using a tractor and blading the surface and then FBI raking it. Made a large square. Looks like prep for imaging.

FBI spokeswoman Gina Swankie said the area was being surveyed for a possible dig for remains from the killing spree of Shermantine and his partner-in-crime, Loren Herzog.

But she cautioned that the FBI's presence doesn't necessarily indicate anything is imminent.

"It doesn't mean we are going to start a dig tomorrow," Swankie said.

FBI surveying another alleged 'Speed Freak' killers' burial site

The FBI is surveying a site in Linden related to the so-called Speed Freak serial killers, but no digging for remains has begun.

FBI spokeswoman Gina Swankie said several questions still need to be answered before any new excavation begins.

According to the FBI, agents surveyed a dry field off of Flood Road. They were using a large back hoe to investigate the soil in what the FBI is calling “advance work.” They were finished for the day by mid-afternoon, according to spokeswoman Gina B. Swankie.

Flood Road was closed from Waverly Road to Escalon Bellota Road. The site is about a half mile east of the well where the remains of joann Hobson, Kimberly Billy, an unidentified woman and a fetus were discovered during a search earlier this year.

well it seems the Sheriff mixed the remains of a few victims and sadly one of them might be Michaela Garecht.

These two monsters were nothing but killing machines and if a proper investigation is ever started I think we will be amazed at the range of victims and the shear numbers.

and for what its worth I believe Herzog was the instigator and driving force.

Digging to resume on Monday!

At a scheduled briefing in Sacramento on Monday the FBI said it will begin a two-to-three week excavation of a well about 50 feet deep, with the goal of digging down five feet per day.

Herb Brown, special agent in charge of the FBI's Sacramento office, said there is no guarantee that investigators will find remains. However, officials are hopeful based on information gathered so far in the investigation.

State Sen. Cathleen Galgiani says that convicted murderer Wesley Shermantine Jr. writes to her a couple of times a week to tell her where remains of murder victims are located.

Shermantine told her that remains are not only located in Linden and Calaveras County, where the FBI is searching, but also in Lodi, Lockeford, Clements, Farmington, French Camp, Tracy, Patterson, Modesto, Oakdale, Turlock and Merced.

Dig at Linden well for remains of Shermantine/Herzog victims hits one month without results; some question location of excavation site

Retired FBI agent Jeff Rinek, who works with victims' families and has no communication with active agents on the ground in Linden, said Shermantine showed them where to dig in August, and this new location is not one of the places.

Rinek believes the FBI should use the killer's information and either prove him right, giving the victims' families relief, or prove him wrong, allowing the families to forever ignore his taunts.

Leonard Padilla, has yet another theory. Padilla has offered Shermantine money, which reopened the long-cold case. Padilla believes Herzog didn't hang himself and the FBI put him in a witness relocation program. "I believe that Loren ... is steering them to the location," said Padilla. "The FBI did not decide to dig that well in a vacuum."

Padilla maintains this position, even after seeing Herzog's autopsy photos and reading the coroner's report.
