Found Deceased Canada - Alison Raspa, 25, Whistler, 22 Nov 2017

The family had been told she was “upset” about “something that happened at work” before she went missing.

“Police are looking through the camera footage where Alison works so they can observe her on a day-to-day basis in the days before she disappeared,” the insider said.

“Alison’s mother has been told that she was upset about something to do with work so police are looking for clues on the (CCTV) tapes.”

The source also claimed the family had heard that something had occurred outside the Three Below bar and lounge on the night she vanished.

I'm a little confused as to why the article refers to her as a "missing backpacker". She was there as a hotel employee and disappeared going home, not backpacking.

Maybe (simply) because apparently her backpack was also found...

:dunno:

...The next day, police found some of her personal belongings, understood to include a mobile phone, 5km away at Alpha Lake Park at Creekside Village. News.com.au understands Ms Raspa’s backpack was also located.

She is a young woman backpacking and working her way around the world, so I assume the backpacker label is used to describe that lifestyle.

Her backpack and jacket were found near her mobile phone. Police continued to believe Ms Raspa was not the victim of foul play.

An unnamed male employee of Three Below disputed rumors a fight took place outside the bar on the night of November 22.

Police do not believe Ms Raspa walked from the bar, near the ski resort’s gondolas, to Alpha Lake Park in Creekside, where her belongings were found. Police “had some thoughts” about how Ms Raspa travelled between the two places, but would not say if they were seeking someone who may have driven her.

Shedding phone, backpack, and coat. First signs of hypothermia. The body believes it is overheating. From there comes the burrowing behavior where the person tries to hole up someplace small wherein death is usually imminent.

Yes and no. There was a young cyclist in the Netherlands who recently vanished. Her backpack and coat were found near a lake and her bicycle was found in the lake. There was a lot of talk about hypothermia. She was in fact abducted, murdered, and dumped in an isolated location.

Alison told friends she was lost: https://au.news.yahoo.com/world/a/38170342/missing-perth-woman-told-friend-im-lost/

Canadian police have suspended their search for Alison Raspa as they revealed the missing Australian woman texted friends to say she was lost shortly after she was last seen.

Police also said they believe she took public transport from the bar where she was last seen.

The 25-year-old from Perth disappeared from the bar in the west coast ski town of Whistler nearly two weeks ago.

Raspa was last seen about 11.30pm on November 22. Her phone was found about 6.30am the following morning in a lakeside park some five kilometres away.

If Alison was last seen at 11:30pm and but texted her friends at 1:15am telling them that she was lost what was Alison doing for almost 2 hours. Its not clear to me where her residence is in relation to the bar she work at and why did she get lost on this night.
Why didn't Alison take another bus back to the bar to get help.

what time do the busses stop running? that could be a factor

Sgt Hayes said police had so far been unable to determine why Ms Raspa had discarded her belongings but there has been speculation in the Canadian press that the young Aussie may have been suffering from hypothermia in the below freezing temperatures.

The onset of hypothermia is often characterised by “hot flashes” which commonly result in the sufferer shedding their clothes.
They are still trying to track down motorists, bus and taxi operators who may have given the Australian a lift to Alpha Lake Park that night, given it was unlikely she walked the estimated seven km from the bar.
“Alison had a black belt. How can someone with a black belt just disappear like that?”

Ms Raspa was last seen wearing a black sweater, a white and black striped shirt, and black pants.

Police are again appealing to the public asking if anyone remembers seeing Ms Raspa on the evening of November 22 and into the early morning hours of November 23 to contact police at 604 932-3044.

Police also revealed Ms Raspa's last known movements, including that she spoke to a friend on a pathway near the bar shortly after leaving.

Ms Raspa was believed to have taken public transport from the Village to a highway stop, then walked about 200 metres to the park where her phone was found, police said. A bus between the two locations takes about 14 minutes. About 1.15am on November 23, Ms Raspa had texted "some of her friends" to say she was lost.

They confirmed her backpack, wallet and jacket were found by the road where she was believed to have disembarked from a bus.

"Investigators have yet to determine why these items were discarded, but do not believe it is the result of foul play," police said.

Police have refused to say whether Ms Raspa was intoxicated when she left the Three Below bar.

It seems Alison's last know location was Alpha Lake Park but don't know why she would would go there. Is there a connecting bus stop nearby or is it close to her residence or maybe it was a familiar landmark for her to get herself situated.

Has anyone reported or even saw that she might have been drinking before she left? The reason I ask is that when people are inebriated they head for a body of water. Was she near a body of water?

"The search to date and been extensive and has circumnavigated the park, lakes, as well as the road/trails/parkades [carparks] leaving from the village to Alpha Lake Park."At this point all available leads have been exhausted."The missing person file will remain active and ongoing until such time that Ms Raspa is located."

Temperatures in Whistler have been freezing since Ms Raspa disappeared, and according to police snow has been consistently falling during this period.

Ms Raspa, from Perth, moved to Canada earlier this year to work in hospitality.

It is believed she worked at the Westin Resort and Spa.

Some of her family members, including her mother, had flown to Canada to help look for her.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information to call police on +1 604 932-3044.
