Who killed John Jacoby? Who killed William Connole?
Back to basics then. What is going on in NOCO?
- Who shot Cory Romero and John Jacoby?
- Who killed William Connole and took a shot at someone else?
- Who, if anyone, has been attacking motorists along I-25?
As Foxfire noted recently, the NOCO task force says has that there is insufficient evidence to link the three. Could their timing and location be a coincidence? Seemingly random shootings do happen all the time, as do shootings at motorists. Are we seeing a pattern where there is none? < What's "normal" for this kind of thing? >
To answer that question, I Google searched instances of what might be series of attacks on motorists. I looked for incidents, nationwide, from 1/1/13 to 8/1/15 in which motorists were shot at, or might have been. I included unexplained window shatterings, but only of vehicles in motion. If there were two incidents that seemed to be linked by time, location, MO or other factors, I listed them. (I've footnoted potential data problems.) I counted 18 clusters covering 111 incidents.
Colorado Clusters. I identify four: The Romero/Jacoby/Cannole/unknown shootings (1 cluster, 4 incidents), the 2015 window shatterings north of Denver (over 28 incidents), the Aurora pellet shootings (4 incidents), and the Jefferson County window shatterings (11 incidents).
Other Clusters. Series of attacks of against motorists are relatively rare. I counted 14 other sets involving 79 victims or vehicles. Some are the work of drunks or juvenile jackasses, but most are unexplained. Additional detail, along with links to MSM sources is available in the Cluster Summary tab of the case spreadsheet.
Here's a map screen shot of them (from the Cluster Summary layer of the case map). (If that layer is 'hidden' when you open the map, turn it on by clicking on the greyed out listing of the layer, on the left.) Note that almost half of the 18 clusters are in Colorado or in and around Kansas City: four clusters (47 incidents) in CO, and four (18 incidents) are in and around Kansas City. < Not normal, in my opinion. Yours? >
* Data considerations. I drew the information from MSM reports identified by a variety of Google searches. Single incidents of this type are only rarely reported in MSM. (I only saw ones that involved policemen's or celebrities cars). This probably leads to an undercount of small clusters. If no one made the connection between multiple shootings or notified the press, I wouldn't have made the connection. The concentration of reported incidents may be higher in areas that have had other clusters as a result of the public and press having been sensitized to the issues involved.
