Were you able to hear the voice in the background. Yes. Who's voice was that? My son George.
O'Mara: No more questions.
Bernie: Have you ever heard him yelling for help before? No.
O'Mara: Have you ever heard him screaming for his life before? The way he is screaming describes to me anguish and fear. Is that your son. Yes.
Excused, subject to recall.
Next Witness:
Jorge Besa (spl ?) Deputy Sheriff, Orange County, Court Services, Assigned to jailhouse division.
O'Mara: You are here as a friend of George Zimmerman.
Jorge: I have known George since October 1983 when his nephew was born. He is Gladys Zimmerman's brother.
O'Mara: You are here today because I wanted to ask you if you have had an opportunity to hear the call with the screams. Jorge: Yes, I have. He heard the scream on the TV behind him while at home working on the computer and recognized George's screaming voice coming from the TV. "That is George!". "It was George, screaming for help." At the time, he did not know that the tape was associated with the case.
Now, Bernie:
You are here on behalf of George Zimmerman because you are related. Not because of your duties or situation as a Deputy Sheriff in Orange County.
Did not know specifics of the case. Before he saw what he saw, he heard George scream. He had heard George playing with his son. He had never heard George cry out before like he did that day.
Bernie, done.
O'Mara: You would not color your testimony to favor your nephew, would you? No.
Bernie: You anticipated you would be called as a witness? No.
Excused, subject to recall.
Judge: Call your next witness.
O'Mara, can we approach your Honor? Yes.
