They didn't release a letter but Heather and Drew Collins have consistently made statements to that effect from the very beginning. The first time they made a public appearance, Heather talked about forgiveness.

They have never seemed to be focused on anger or hatred, their message from the very beginning has been about forgiveness. I really admire them for their faith. It's easy to be a good Christian or a good Buddhist or a good whatever when times are good. It's quite something else to display the demanding parts of faith when truly bad things happen.

That's just logic. The more people who share a secret, the more likely that secret is to be discovered. If the girls were being trafficked, their very existence would be a secret but one shared with many people.

Heck, to tie into current events, a secret shared between a very powerful man and an ambitious woman didn't remain a secret for long.

In this case, the only way the girls would remain concealed for long would be if there was just one person who had the secret.
 
Cinder, check out all the stuff on AmandaReckonwith's link above my post. Heather and Drew have been speaking out and forgiving whoever took the girls for a long time publicly. Much more forgiveness than I'd give a perp or perps for sure.

I was glad to hear that Heather & Drew weren't focusing on Misty & Dan's legal problems. Everyone else will do that for them anyways. They have a good support group from my op. I could be wrong...but I'm not seeing it so far. Sure some bickering once in a while but hugs come afterwards most of the times. There are people helping and organizing to get their names out. A big thanks from me to you fb-ers also as well as here.

Hello everyone, I am new to the group, thank you for allowing me to join! I discovered websleuths during a google search for updates on these two missing girls shortly after their disappearance and I've been following along with your posts since. I do have a couple things that have come to mind that I would like to post and/or ask about; however, I want to be certain I do not break any rules in doing so. <modsnip>. Thank you very much!

You are absolutely correct. However, IF they have been trafficked, it is possible they could be someplace far away. The customers are not going to care who they are or where they came from, and due to the nature of their reasons for being there in the first place, none of them are going to talk about it to anyone else.

Why would they cancel at the last minute? I understand Dan's trial had been held off due to the girls missing. I wonder if this possible violation could put her in a situation of going back into confinement if found guilty??? I don't know, but I wonder why it was cancelled at the last minute. Has anyone read anything else as to why?

Their legal battles are certainly interesting. They fair far better than my ex - and he always came out smelling like a rose. :(
 
IOWA CITY, Iowa — Prosecutors say a Cedar Rapids inmate made phone calls falsely claiming to have knowledge of the whereabouts of the missing Iowa cousins.

Federal prosecutors say in a filing that Shawn Gant called the U.S. Attorney's Office in August and September and left messages claiming to know where Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins are and that "they would never be found."

The filing says the calls were traced to a phone in the Linn County Jail and video confirmed Gant made them.

This is very interesting and I don't understand it either.

The person reporting seems to think that MCM arrived at the courthouse not knowing her case had been cancelled. I don't believe that is necessarily correct.

Is it possible that she was at the courthouse in order to sign some type of plea bargain that had been offered by Feds in order for her to avoid having to face the judge?!? Yeah... I know... that's most likely a long-shot... IDK
 
They just said on kwwl that Misty did in fact show up at court and then found out things were cancelled.

True. But I have not seen it happen that way with two abducted children.

I'm glad they did.

My theory right now is that someone in the prosecutor's office said "you know, petitioning to put this mother of a missing 10 year old back in prison is going to look really, really bad. Do we really want to look like the bullies here?"

I think Misty is doing the best she can. She's never been a violent offender, so it's not like she's a threat to society. This unspeakable tragedy has engulfed her and if she didn't always act like a perfect human being, well, I suspect I wouldn't either.

I just wish I could give her a big hug and tell her everything will be okay. Sadly, even though her family can do the first part, no one on earth can do the second part.

Dylan and Shasta Groene. Duncan ended up killing Dylan and I don't think anyone understands why he killed Dylan and why he let Shasta live.

But he kept Dylan alive for quite a while.

Here's a case where the kidnapper had two abducted children at the same time -

Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby were two children that Michael Devlin kidnapped separately years apart but brought back to his apartment for his own pleasure. Shawn was there for over four years when Ben was abducted and brought there to join Shawn. They were together for five days before they were both found alive in that apartment by LE.
 
Of all the cases where a conspiracy theory is justified....this is it. With court proceeding for both Dan & Misty, getting delayed, cancelled, moved, etc. Is there something the police know that we don't?

The call from inside the jail? When was the call made? Did another inmate arrive between July 13 and Gant making the call? Did he obtain information on the girls and later was threatened?

Where are these two????

On Wednesday, a warrant was issued for another man arrested with Morrissey on drug charges in December 2011. Jason Stolfus, 37, of Waterloo, is wanted for contempt of court, according to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Department website.

Breault would not comment on whether Stolfus has been looked into in relation to the girls' disappearance.
