Police Often Bungle Missing Child Cases

Two decades after Adam Walsh died (and one decade after his confessed killer, Ottis Toole, died), Police Chief Chadwick Wagner admitted, and apologized for, many mistakes in the Adam Walsh investigation.

Police do not have an easy job, and should be commended for their good work when they solve crimes and bring criminals to justice. But, more often than the public realizes, poor police work jeopardizes prosecutions and lets killers walk free. Caylee Anthony, Adam Walsh, JonBenet Ramsey, and the rest of America's missing children deserve competent police work.

Casey Anthony update: no family visitors and more from commissary

Orange County jail officials released Casey Anthony's latest commissary order -- a total of $40.48 -- this afternoon.

She ordered various food and hygiene items, including a Speed Stick deodorant ($3.25), three Reese's peanut butter cups ($2.84) and ten chicken instant lunches ($9.00).

This comes a week after she ordered $68.24 worth of items, such as a sketch pad ($1.65) and nine chocolate-chip granola bars ($5.27).

No Holiday Visitors For Jailed Casey Anthony

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Nobody visited Casey Anthony on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Members of Casey's defense team did stop by the jail twice during the holiday week.

Also Tuesday, Eyewitness News learned Casey spent around $40 dollars on several items, including beef jerky sticks, chicken cup-o-noodles and peanut M&Ms.

Baez Wants Questioning Of Private Investigator To Be Supervised

Dominic Casey was hired to try and find Caylee Anthony after her mother, Casey, was first arrested.

He was terminated in October.

Baez said during his time working the case, the investigator acquired privileged information, and Baez said someone needs to oversee any questioning.

Luka also believes the state would rather use his client lee to testify instead of George and Cindy Anthony. &#8220;Speaking as an ex prosecutor having a parent testify against a child is an extraordinarly sympathetic to a jury and can draw sympathy towards a defendant as opposed to away from them. On the other hand siblings do not have that same sort of connection nor are the liable to break down as far as emotionally evoking the same kind of reaction from a jury.&#8221;

Sources said they are going to be asked to help convict their daughter, Casey Anthony, who sits in jail charged with first-degree murder.

Dominic Casey said, since he didn't find anything, he never mentioned his search to the Anthonys until December 11, which is the day the Orange County meter reader discovered Caylee Anthony's remains.

The grandparents of slain toddler Caylee Anthony will seek immunity from prosecution.

The lawyer for George and Cindy Anthony said Wednesday that he began laying the groundwork with prosecutors shortly after he took the Anthony’s on as clients.

Also according to Conway, he believes the defense may finish with the toddlers remains by the end of the week. Then he said the family can focus on laying the little girl to rest.

Once the burial is over, Conway believes investigators wil question the Anthony’s again.

While he was there, Casey said that James Hoover snuck up on him.

"As I turned around, Hoover was standing there with a video camera,&#8221; Casey said. &#8220;I said, 'What are you doing here?' He said, &#8216;I thought you might want help.' I said, &#8216;James, that's completely inappropriate&#8217;."

Casey took photos of the area and said he's turned over his photos to the Anthony's attorney, to give to prosecutors.

According to Casey, James Hoover now claims his video no longer exists, that he taped over it.

A sheriff&#8217;s spokesman said this week that the sheriff&#8217;s office would like to see the tape, but he would not verify if Hoover had given it to them.

Phone calls to Hoover were not returned. Casey said he plans to pursue legal action against Hoover for making false claims.

"I find it appalling that someone would profit from a missing child. It sickens me," Casey said.

Major Caylee Anthony Clue Could Be On Mystery Videotape

That mystery caller could be a big clue that connects Casey to the crime scene.

Eyewitness News has learned the Anthonys' two private investigators came to the discovery scene on November 15 and 16, a Saturday and Sunday, possibly because they didn't find Caylee's remains right away.

Both Dominic Casey and Padilla said Hoover claims to have recorded over most of the tape he shot at the scene, but Eyewitness News has learned that Hoover is planning a news conference for Monday.

The Anthony family has made it clear that they will not do any on camera interviews until after Caylee Marie is laid to rest.

Anthony said he can't drive down Suburban Drive, where the remains were found, because he's not ready to see the makeshift memorial left for his granddaughter. He doesn't know if he'll ever be able to drive further down Suburban drive near the area where a meter reader found Caylee Marie's remains.

Lee, the Anthony&#8217;s son and brother to Casey, has moved back home to be with his parents.

By Tuesday, Baez will be getting more information from the state. A spokeswoman for the state attorney's office says they will meet a judge's deadline to turn over photographs and X-rays of Caylee's remains.
