GUILTY Mexico - Monica Beresford-Redman, 42, Cancun, 5 April 2010

A US citizen doesnt require a passport to enter the US.

Are you sure. I thought it required a trip to the US Consulate.

And Lindsay Lohan could not re-enter the US last week.

How do they prove they are a US citizen? Especially if they are not high profile?

The Justice of Quintana Roo questioned the version that Bruce Beresford-Redman, prime suspect in the death of his wife, Monica Burgos Brazilian, has left Mexico and is located in Los Angeles, California from Saturday night .

The lawyer of the deceased, Alejandro Ledezma, confirmed that it was the U.S. consulate that helped the creator of the Survivor series, to leave the country.

"What we know is that the Lord is peacefully at his home and has no plans to come back, for surely relies to avoid extradition.

"This is very serious because the passport was retained by the Attorney General and the U.S. Consulate, which agreed to submit to the authorities when required, facilitated their departure, not otherwise explained how he could go paperless "he said.

The Burgos family, murdered in the hotel Moon Palace south of Cancún, whose body was left in one of the tanks of the hosting center in early April, is "upset and angry," the litigant who also blamed the Attorney General for the delay in resolving the case.

"From the outset the Office had 40 days to provide results and did not. If they could, they should seek the help of the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic), now, here is the consequences.

"Then the American consulate also has a responsibility and this is very serious happened, because it ensured that the consul would pick up the lord and his lawyers knew that, even though there was an arrest warrant against him, he was unable to leave country. How boarded the plane without a passport?, who let him and with permission from whom? "he said.

Ledezma found the suspect, who has a new door TV at home, could be achieved through court orders and other legal remedies, "the case is prolonged enough to be forgotten."

"The case is a question and diplomatic status. The Foreign Secretary has to intervene, requesting it to return to the country and is presented. I think that will not die the case," he said.

In this regard, the attorney general, Francisco Alor, questioned the version referred to Beresford-Redman, left the country.

"His lawyer, through a newsletter, announced that he was in the U.S., but we know. To leave the country by air, must present their passport and fill out an immigration form, but we have retained us passport . If you went through a border road, we would have to ask why, because his situation is complicated, because it seems that is fleeing, "he said.

Although for the attorney, "hypothetically" the suspect is in Mexico, Alor Quezada said Monday morning ask the Secretary of the Interior (Interior Ministry), through the National Migration Institute (INM), data to corroborate or refute the output Beresford.

It will also be conducive to the U.S. consulate, which required "last week, the presence of the producer of the CBS, as the results of the expert of the PGR, were delivered.

"What's driving the attorney for Mr. Beresford, in that there was no need to stay in the country as part of the process, is false. Mr. was asked on several occasions, which was notified to the U.S. Consulate in Merida and the embassy.

"Remember that at the beginning of the investigation began in bitterness, then as filed, and after he was released, with reserves of law and, subject to be presented by the Consulate, when required," he said.

The expert of the PGR are conclusive: confirm the hypothesis of the murder of Burgos and there is a suspect. The file "Alor said, will be entered before a judge this week, to determine the pertinent and, if necessary, release the corresponding arrest warrants.

Lindsay Lohan was in Paris. If she wanted to get onto a plane she would need a passport.

However, if she wanted to drive to the US (or use a paddleboat or canoe or whatever) she could. That is not practical, she needed to fly, so she needed a passport,

Once a US citizen has arrived on US soil it is not like you can deport them.

A drivers licence is enough. I live in Canada, and until recently you could drive accross the border without a passport, just a drivers licence.

This is the current requirements for reentry for US citizens (from Canada anyway).

EXCLUSIVE: Survivor Producer's Slain Wife's Sisters Win Control Of Her Restaurant

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...lain-wifes-sisters-win-control-her-restaurant

The sisters of Monica Beresford-Redman, the murdered wife of former Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, were named co-administrators of her restaurant, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Judge Mitchell Beckloff gave Jeane and Carla Burgos permission to run Monica's Brazilian restaurant Zabumba.

"The special co-administrators are empowered to take charge of the ongoing operation of Zabumba Brazilian Restaurant, and have the authority to use the operating account for restaurant business only. Court does not order bond based on the 2004 will," the court documents read.

The temporary special letters appointing the sisters as co-administrators for business purposes lasts until August 23, 2010, or until further notice from the court.

If you have the link, please! :)

Co-administrators = co-managers? Monica's will left everything she had to Bruce, in the event she "preceded him in death", which suggests Bruce is now the legal owner of the restaurant and Monica's sisters will be operating it for his benefit.

Lawyer Slams Mexico Probe In Producer's Wife Death

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gf9hQyIyCrHaUs-mv3AAqSfnsyuQD9FTK3P80

CANCUN, Mexico — A Mexican lawyer for the family of a TV producer's wife found dead in Cancun said Monday that investigators in Mexico have neither the ability nor the willingness to solve the case.

Criticism has mounted that prosecutors in the Caribbean coast state of Quintana Roo have been slow to reach a conclusion in the death of Monica Beresford-Redman, the wife of former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman.

[snip]

"What I think is that there is neither the ability nor the willingness to solve these cases, not just in this (state) attorney general's office but I think at the national level," said Alejandro Ledezma Alvarez, the Mexican lawyer for Monica Beresford-Redman's family.

Ledezma Alvarez also criticized the U.S. consulate, saying it violated a "moral commitment" to make sure Bruce Beresford-Redman showed up for questioning in the case. Prosecutors made him turn in his passport and told him not to leave the country, but his U.S. lawyer said Sunday that he has returned to the United States.

"From the start with the (U.S.) consul, it was more of a moral commitment than a legal one — they promised to have him (Beresford-Redman) show up as often as the prosecutors needed him," Ledezma Alvarez said. "We have to check and see what the position of these consulates is, and limit their involvement."

You would need one to get on a plane otherwise the carrier wouldn't let you board, but if you presented yourself at a border post you only need some form of ID. So, he could have just driven home.

I don't think that works any longer.

All Americans traveling by air outside of the United States are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to re-enter the United States. This requirement was extended to sea travel (except closed-loop cruises), including ferry service, on June 1, 2009. Starting June 1, 2009, all travelers entering the U.S. by land, sea or air were required to present a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document such as a passport or a passport card. While passport cards and enhanced driver’s license are sufficient for re-entry into the United States, they may not be accepted by the particular country you plan to visit; please be sure to check with your cruise line and countries of destination for any foreign entry requirements. U.S. legal permanent residents in possession of their I-551 Permanent Resident card may board flights to the United States from Mexico.

Some other interesting info from that same page:

Arrests and Notifications: The Mexican government is required by international law to notify the U.S. Embassy or the nearest U.S. consulate promptly when a U.S. citizen is arrested, if the arrestee so requests. In practice, however, this notification can be delayed by months or may never occur at all, limiting the assistance the U.S. Government can provide. U.S. citizens should promptly identify themselves as such to the arresting officers, and should request that the Embassy or nearest consulate be notified immediately.

Prison Facilities: Prison conditions in Mexico can be extremely poor. In many facilities food is insufficient in both quantity and quality, and prisoners must pay for adequate nutrition from their own funds. Most Mexican prisons provide poor medical care, and even prisoners with urgent medical conditions receive only a minimum of attention. U.S. citizens who are incarcerated in Mexico are sometimes forced to pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars in “protection money” to fellow prisoners.

Prisoner Treatment/Interrogations: Mexico is party to several international anti-torture conventions, and the Mexican Constitution and Mexican law accordingly prohibit torture; however, Mexican police regularly obtain information through torture, and courts continue to admit as evidence confessions extracted under torture. Authorities rarely punish officials for torture, which continues to occur in large part because confessions are the primary evidence in many criminal convictions. U.S. citizens have been brutalized, beaten, and even raped while in police custody. Since the beginning of 2002, 23 U.S. citizens have died in Mexican prisons, including five apparent homicides.

I wonder though if he had both a passport and a passport card. According to this site you can have both and the passport card works for re-entering the US from Mexico. If he had both maybe he only surrendered his passport book and not his passport card thus using the card to re-enter the US.

I can't believe that they haven't arrested him yet. What are they waiting for? Do they think this will just go away?

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Survivor Producer Silent When Asked Who Killed His Wife

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...-survivor-producer-silent-who-killed-his-wife

Former Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, who denies any wrongdoing in the murder of his wife, was asked the toughest question of all on Tuesday afternoon in Beverly Hills: “Who do you think killed Monica?”

But Beresford-Redman, who fled Mexico despite being wanted for questioning over the brutal murder, stayed completely silent.

When confronted by RadarOnline.com reporters Katie Rhames and Amber Goodhand — the first time he has faced questions from journalists — the award-winning television producer refused to comment.

He also dodged another revealing question: whether he plans to attend the memorial for Monica on Sunday.

Victim's sister says that the children were told by Bruce's mother that their mother was killed in Mexico by a car and that Bruce saw her in the hospital before she died:

What are those kids going to think of the grandmother when they are old enough to find out the truth?

If she wanted to be gentle and not implicate her son she should have just said "that their mom was found dead and we are not sure want happened but the police are trying to find out."

U.S. Diplomats Helped 'Survivor' Murder Suspect Leave Mexico, Lawyer Says

Bruce Beresford-Redman, the chief suspect in the brutal murder of his wife, left Mexico for Los Angeles with the help of U.S. diplomats, the Mexican attorney representing his in-laws has claimed.

And while the former Survivor is silent on the question of who killed his wife, Mexican law enforcement authorities are close to making up their own mind, according to a new report.

The state attorney general, Francisco Alor, has told reporters in Mexico that he recently received the results of the forensic tests performed on the body of Monica Beresford-Redman.

Alor revealed he could soon ask a judge to issue a warrant for Beresford’s arrest.

But here’s the problem.

Alejandro Ledezma, the attorney representing the family of the victim, said that if an arrest order is issued, the Mexican government would have to request Beresford’s extradition, a process that could take several years.

Mexican law does not permit defendants to be tried in absentia.

Exactly! There isn't any excuse, imo, to completely distort the truth by saying Monica was in a car accident. What you've suggested is far better! MOO
