If you look at the timeline, it turns out a motorist called Indiana State Police to say they say a car driving erratically and then a few minutes later saw the vehicle off the road. State police got there within 5 minutes of the call. Point is, there wasn't a lot of time between the car going off the road and the cops finding it. Plus, that stretch of I-94 tends to be pretty busy even at night w/ trucks going between Detroit and Chicago (car was found about 9:20 p.m. Indiana time). So it's hard to imagine that someone could have hit her and disposed of the body that quickly and w/o witnesses.

I think there was a call at 10:02 of a car being driven erratically, another call at 10:15 that the car was off the road and police got there at 10:20.

Julie Mack | 3 days ago
My colleague Rex Hall says there was only 1 call -- at 10:02 -- and the police call there at 10:20.

Kzoo sheriff in this video

"Apparently they've come up with witnesses who saw this vehicle about 10 minutes before it was left along the side of the highway. They identified a single driver that'll (? sic) driving erratically."

Police Talk About Night Teleka Patrick Went Missing
WOOD TV8 Published on Dec 16, 2013

Rex Hall, Mlive - caller reported car was already off the road:

Williamson said that the call state police received Dec. 5 came from a motorist who spotted Patrick’s Lexus off the side of the highway. The caller also reported seeing a vehicle matching the description of the car driving erratically prior to seeing the Lexus in the ditch.

Williamson said state police investigators have interviewed the motorist who called dispatchers on Dec. 5 and that the motorist reported seeing at least one person in the car when they spotted it driving erratically but later saw no one by the car when it was on the side of the road.

It just seems to me that if LE was thinking that way, LE would have behaved differently and FBI would have gotten involved much sooner. But I could be wrong.

I agree. None of the police agencies are even looking for her it seems.

Since there is no evidence of a crime having been committed, local police agencies are taking a hand’s off approach to the case.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Ann Wojas said ISP is assisting the Kalamazoo County sheriff in the investigation but that, “we’re not the lead agency in the investigation. We just found the car

The lead agency in the woman’s disappearance is the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department. Kalamazoo Undersheriff Paul Matyas recently issued a statement saying the department expects to finish its investigation soon.

“Our department is not making any comments regarding the investigation,” Matyas said Tuesday.

“We hope to, in another week, be able to put something out that would update our investigation.”

Local police agencies are not actively involved in the search, either.

Shayna Dujmovich, a part-time officer for the Burns Harbor police, said officers helped search the area and are keeping an eye out for her, but that is the extent of their activities.

A Porter police department dispatcher said they are not actively involved in the investigation.

Sgt. Larry LaFlower, public information officer with the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, said a retired sheriff’s department sergeant used his bloodhound to help in the initial search for the missing woman.

Teleka Patrick's family releases desperate plea

The family of a missing Kalamazoo doctor has issued a plea of desperation after nearly seven weeks with no answers.

Around 10:00 Wednesday night Teleka Patrick's family released this statement, saying quote --

"We are past the point of desperation. We are running on fumes and running out of time. Like everyone, we have drowned in the speculation of where she could be and who might have her."

The family goes on to say, "We thank and encourage the hordes of online support and aid that we have received. Please don't give up."
