CHEBOYGAN, Mich. (WWJ) – State Police in Cheboygan County, in Michigan’s northern lower peninsula, have found a body believed to be that of a missing Warren woman.

i hope that coward is shaking in his cell

RIP kimberly:rose:

Loyd Dejohn's bond was set high so that he stayed locked up during the search. He's definitely not going anywhere now that the body has been found.

We will update and move the thread when we have confirmation that this is Kimberly.

Prayers to the family and loved ones.

Aww man...bittersweet. It's sad that she's deceased, but it's good that the search is over. :-( Pending confirmation of course...

ITA such a sad story, but at least there can be a final goodbye.

The 9&10 article shows that they got a tip from an inmate who was close to LD in the jail who gave them a location of a vacant home. By telling investigators about that, this person has done a wonderful thing, and I hope he/she is made aware of it and that they are appreciated by so many.

And did you see the interesting comment by thomas7314 saying on Memorial Day weekend there was a car or SUV parked behind that house? Too bad no one checked it out (or if they did were afraid to come forward).

I find it odd that the inmate got enough detail from DeJohn to pinpoint the location of the body. Cheboygan County is big, and there must be a lot of old homes around the county. I wonder what specifically led them to this particular home. Someone did some good detective work. I'm glad there's a resolution. May this lady rest well. It sounds like she may have had a rough life during her married years.

Body found in Cheboygan Co. after tip in investigation of missing Warren woman

Mark Hicks/The Detroit News

Authorities are working to determine whether the body of a woman found Wednesday in northern Michigan is that of a 51-year-old Warren woman missing since last month.

A tip led Warren detectives involved in the investigation of Kimberly Dejohn to Koehler Township in Cheboygan County, said Deputy Police Commissioner Louis Galasso. There, on a plot of land that has an abandoned home, the detectives, sheriff’s deputies and Michigan State Police found a shallow grave with the body of a white female, he said.

The corpse “showed signs of significant decomposition,” Galasso said. Additional details on the body’s condition were not released...

So she would not have been found, without the tip, apparently...jmo

If the remains are determined to be Kim Dejohn, I wonder if the vehicle that was used to transport her body belonged to Loyd and whether or not said vehicle has been located. Afton is east of Rogers City and another area that had been searched earlier in the investigation.

It will be interesting to see how the preliminary hearing for Loyd Dejohn goes today, but it's possible that it will be postponed now that Kim's remains may have been located.

Husband of missing Warren woman has bond raised to $1 million

Mark Hicks and Tony Briscoe/The Detroit News

Warren — Loyd Dejohn, the husband of a 51-year-old Warren woman missing since last month whose body may have been found Wednesday in northern Michigan, was charged Thursday with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and aggravated domestic violence.

Not guilty pleas on the charges were entered by the court on his behalf but Dejohn’s bond was raised to $1 million by 37th District Court Judge Sherman P. Faunce as authorities work to determine whether the discovered body is that of his wife, Kimberly Dejohn, after a tip led Warren detectives to Koehler Township in Cheboygan County.

There, on a plot of land that has an abandoned home, the detectives, sheriff’s deputies and Michigan State Police found a shallow grave Wednesday with the body of a white female, said Deputy Police Commissioner Louis Galasso. Macomb County prosecutors say they believe the body is Kimberly Dejohn’s...

New charge issued for husband of missing Warren woman

Police investigating discovery of body in northern Michigan

Published On: Jun 19 2014 07:55:41 AM EDT Updated 11 m

WARREN, Mich. -
Amid the discovery of a body that is being investigated as belonging to a missing Warren woman, another charge has been issued against her husband.

Police say 46-year-old Loyd Dejohn told them he last saw his wife, Kimberly, when she left home following a fight May 14. He has admitted to shoving his wife, resulting in her hitting her head on a dresser.

Loyd Dejohn was original charged with aggravated domestic violence, but during a hearing on Thursday, the court added an additional charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. His bond was also brought up to $1 million...

sorry Bette i hadnt refreshed and didnt see your post.

"Her husband had told me that they had a fight and police had been called and they sent an ambulance for a psych evaluation, and I had no reason not to believe it," Outman said.

She said she grew more suspicious when her stepdad told her he wanted her to come get her mother's belongings because he was moving another woman in the house.

"We finally came to an agreement that her stuff would go into storage, but that's when I thought she was in the hospital," Outman said.

The same day Outman filed a missing persons report, her stepdad was arrested on domestic violent charges.

LOTS MORE INFO in the link~~

I'm glad you posted this.... I kept thinking who goes two weeks without speaking to their mother at least over the phone. Struck me as odd. Still a little odd that she didn't try to locate her at the hospital.

how horrible. Thankfully they found her. I couldn't imagine how her daughter must feel.

There have been some updates in the case on WDIV that aren't yet available at www.clickondetroit.com. I will post later.

Note: Autopsy tomorrow will confirm identification and cause of death. Tattoos described by family members are similar to those on the remains. Loyd Dejohn has an unusual preoccupation with death.

ETA: Report on WDIV 6:00 news - Mentioned tattoos again, but DNA identification might be required for positive identification due to level of decomposition. Loyd's strange preoccupation with death is related to the collection of hearses and caskets that has been mentioned on this forum.

Bond raised to $1M for husband of missing Warren woman

Tony Briscoe and Francis X. Donnelly/The Detroit News

...After the hearing, Loyd Dejohn’s family embraced each other outside the courthouse.

His brother, Stan, said he wasn’t surprised by the new charge and higher bond after the discovery of the body one day earlier.

“It’s hard on all of us,” he said. “We’re just trying to get through.”

Schwartz said she is worried about her grandson’s well-being.

“He’s been thinking of killing himself,” she said.
