Woman believed to be missing Warren mom strangled to death, officials say

A woman found buried in northern Michigan — believed to be missing mother Kimberly Dejohn of Warren — died from strangulation, officials said Friday.

The death has been ruled a homicide.

The Macomb County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an internal autopsy Friday on the body found Wednesday in a shallow grave in Koehler Township. Identification is pending DNA confirmation.

Tattoos on the body match those of Dejohn, 51...

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office wants to add a charge of first-degree murder against the husband of a Warren woman whose body was found in a makeshift grave in northern Michigan.

Loyd DeJohn, 46, is due in Warren District Court Thursday for a preliminary exam on an assault charge.

Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said he will seek to add the murder charge plus charges of disinternment and mutilation of a dead body and aggravated domestic violence.

Husband of Warren woman to face murder charges in her death

The husband of a Warren woman whose body was found last month in a shallow grave in northern Michigan will face first degree murder charges, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

Loyd Dejohn, 46, is expected to be arraigned Thursday in 37th District Court for the killing of his wife, Kimberly Dejohn. The woman was found June 18 in Afton, Mich., after she was missing for five weeks...

Dejohn stood mute and answered only when Sabaugh addressed him. The judge entered a no guilty plea on his behalf and scheduled a pre-trial conference for Aug. 28...

Sabaugh ordered him held on a $1 million bond.

A Warren man’s childhood head injury could be a factor in the case prosecutors are building against him for killing his wife... His attorney, Tim Barkovic, said he will “insist” that mental-health officials also conduct a neurological exam on Dejohn to determine the effect of a head injury he suffered as a child when he was hit by a car. Dejohn has multiple plates in his head and can be effected emotionally if he is hit in the head...

But county Assistant Prosecutor William Cataldo said Dejohn previously admitted to the slaying and added Friday the defendant killed Kimberly Dejohn to keep on having an affair with “a younger woman”...

Court officials will wait until the mental evaluation by experts at the State Center for Forensic Psychiatry near Ypsilanti is completed before setting a new date.

Mount Clemens — A man accused of strangling his wife and burying the body 220 miles away has been convicted of first-degree murder.

Macomb County prosecutors argued that Loyd Dejohn killed Kimberly Dejohn because he was in a relationship with a cousin about half his age. The body of the 51-year-old was found a few weeks later in Cheboygan County in 2014...
