NC - Erica Lynn Parsons, 13, Rowan County, 19 Nov 2011 - #6 *Parents chgd w/Murder*

Maybe that DSS worker will put most of the doubt on the mom ? Just speculating. And FWIW I do not know which is mom or dad. When they both have names that could go to either gender AND sound alike too, I gave up on about week one trying to remember who was who .

I thought I was the only one who couldn;t get the names straight

Jury Selection
...experts say Parson's atty has a specific profile in mind.
"He wants somebody who can sympathize with the idea of having another party being the primary person responsible for the paying of all bills."

:waiting:

I called it at the beginning of this case. Sandy is going the Adam Baker route. He lets the little woman handle the childrearin and bill payin. He don't know nuttin bout nuttin. :sigh:

I hope he does take the witness stand but I doubt it.

I've been following this story almost from the day it broke. How have these two not been charged with Erica's murder yet? This is one of the best circumstantial evidence cases I've seen, honestly.

Thanks for all the links!

So Sandy used the not-guilty-by-reason-of-stupidity defense. It's not surprising. Remember when he and Casey were on Dr. Phil? He used the same excuse when Dr. P asked him why he never got out of the car to go meet ol' Nan during the parking lot meetups. He said something like he trusted Casey to know that Nan was a good person. SMH.

Jurors may sympathize with his lack of education and the seemingly simple-minded way he presented on the stand but I don't think they'll believe that he never once asked Casey what he was signing - tax returns, Medicaid, adoption benefits, food stamps.

Most damning of all, the jury would have to accept that Sandy truly believed it was okay to not report Erica missing. That's a tough issue to overcome no matter how ignorant jurors may think he is.

Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed; I want them both to go to jail.

Possibly the most truthful statement Sandy made:

Parsons later testified, "Casey tells me what I have to do."

It ticks me off that Sandy was able to slip in this statement regarding Erica:

"She can come back any time she wants."

Anand Ramaswamy, Assistant U.S. Attorney, asked Sandy this question:

"Is there anything you do where you take responsibility?"

I believe that I can answer that question for Sandy AND Casey: No!

He better hope the Zombie Apocalypse never happens because we've all known for literally 3+ years the only way she could do that is if she were to rise from the dead.

This thread makes me think about how many kids have gone missing and no one was ever able to be charged with their (likely) deaths. I can think of a handful off the top of my head, but in reality I don't think I want to know the true number.

Some more details: http://www.wsoctv.com/news/news/jury-convicts-sandy-parsons-embezzlement-mail-frau/nhsW3/

federal jury convicted him on 43 criminal counts ...Sandy Parsons guilty of fraud, conspiracy and identity theft.

Sandy will be sentenced on Feb. 18 and could face life in prison.

http://www.wxii12.com/news/erica-pa...-sandy-parsons-found-guilty-of-fraud/29359874

He was found guilty of 20 counts of embezzlement of government, as well as theft of government, conspiracy to defraud the government, mail fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Wow, so Casey (mom) pleads guilty to 16 counts fraud and Sandy ends up being found guilty of the entire 49 he was charged with.

Will we ever know what was done to/with Erica. Sadly I think not. :(

When asked about the tax return filed in his name that listed Erica after she was gone, he said, "I ain't never filed a tax, Casey fills them out. Casey said sign this so I signed it, later adding "that's why I got Casey, she takes care of me."

Oh, she sure does. Sandy can recall all his memories of just how well Casey took care of him while he's serving time for those 46 counts that he was convicted of on Monday. :jail:

Let's hope and pray that these verdicts and Casey's sentencing will just be the beginning of justice for Erika.

WooHoo! Casey and Sandy are going to jail, neener neener! :happydance:

Anyone notice that the reporter got Sandy and Casey mixed up?

Sandy Parsons pleaded guilty earlier this month to 16 fraud charges. :giggle:

MsMarple, you make me laff in spite of the seriousness of this case! Your "neener neener" made me LOL. Thanks for the lift!

Maybe some things will continue to fall into place...

Here's another article about them -- I hope it's not a repeat:

maybe LE can focus on Erica now and find what's left of that poor child so she can have a proper burial....I just don't think she is alive any where
