Identified! NC - Glenville, WhtMale 969UMNC, 15-18, Thorpe Reservoir dam, Feb'84 - James Reymer

I'd guess that if, as stated, he went to high school in Streamwood, which is not large -- its population now is listed at about 40,000 -- the answer as to his identity lies there in school records, waiting to be revealed.

Also if he served in the military wouldn't they have fingerprints? This is an interesting case mainly because with so much info it seems finding his identity should be fairly easy.

I don't know that all the information they have on him is accurate. It seems that some of it may come from 'employment information' written on a McDonald's placement - may even be a job application. He may have fabricated the information if he was looking for a job, so I would take it all with a grain of salt...

I agree, especially given that the age range is 15-20 and he was found in 1984. If he was at the lower end of that range, he would only be 10/11 in 1978/1979 when he was apparently employed. I think you might be right poppygirl and this information was fabricated. Either that, or the age range would need to be about 20-23 to plausibly tie in?

NAMUS has a different sketch of him - looks much different, less boyish, longer hair.

Poppygirl would you mind posting a link to his NamUs profile here? I couldn't find him on there, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'd like to post the sketch they have on him here. Thank you!

Wow - what an interesting (and sad) story. So much information, yet no identity...I guess they don't know for sure if all those details are true though.

It sure does seem like a lot of information and it's puzzling to me why he has yet to be identified. I'm a sucky sleuth (I couldn't even find him on NamUs) but I'm hoping a few of our excellent sleuths here can bring this young man home to his family.

Thank you ctaylor, you're awesome!!

Here are both sketches.

Now I haven't checked any other threads -- but doesn't Sharon Marshall/Suzanne have a missing brother? Sounds like the same geography and Floyd was handy with a wallet.

I had the same thought (hope) as you so I checked Sharon/Suzanne's thread. Her brother was born in April of 1974.

Here are his rule outs as listed on NamUs:

Steve Arrowood 1956 North Carolina
Clifton Leonard 1967 Florida
John Troha 1963 Michigan

There are several possible matches mentioned by people on the NCMEC Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/notes/help-id-me/30-years-later-and-still-no-name/949309928430248

The Jackson County, NC UID was 15 to 20 years old when found in 1983. He was 71" tall (5'11") and weighed 171 pounds. Short light brown hair. Might have been in Florida, Illinois and Tennessee before arriving in North Carolina.

Bringing them over here as a place to start. I don't see any of them as likely matches.

John Degnan III, Broward County, Florida, 20 year old white male went missing in Nov. 1980. He was reported to be 5'7" tall and weighed 145 pounds. So height and weight are off. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/20826/6/
37216

Randy Sellers, Kenton County, Kentucky, 17 year old white male went missing in August 1980. 5'7" and 149 lbs. (He could have grown a few inches and filled out in 3 years. However, he has a tattoo and surgical scars, which our UID did not.) https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/1712/1/
2252

Daniel Naylor Alameda County, California white male, who was was 14 years old when he went missing in October 1982. Height listed as 5'9" and weight at 140 lbs. At age 14 he would still be growing. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/4544/0/

Gregory Mitchell, Polk County, Florida, 16 year old white male went missing in November 1981. Height estimated at 5'10" to 6'0" and weight at 200 lbs. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/5650/0/ and more info here: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/mitchell_gregory.html
His photo shown was taken several years before he went missing. FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED http://www.missingkids.com/poster/NCMC/1150937/1

John Gosch from Polk County, Iowa was only 12 years old when he went missing in Sept 1982. White male, 5'7" and 140 lbs. (Too young to be the IUD and has freckles.) https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6131/0/
8592

Bryan Fisher, Erie County, Pennsylvania, 16 year old white male went missing in Feb 1982. About 5'9" tall and weighed 180 lbs. (He has a few tattoos, so unlikely a match.) https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6060/0/

Michael Askren, Los Angeles County, California, 17 year old white male missing since August 1981. Listed as 5'7" and 140 lbs. Foul play suspected and being handled by LE as a homicide. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/5807/0/

A few people mentioned John Allen Troha from Michigan, but he has been ruled out. Other rule outs are : Steve Arrowood from North Carolina and Clifton Leonard from Florida.

There's already a thread on this fellow. Could one of the Mods merge???

NC NC - Glenville, WhtMale 969UMNC, 15-18, Thorpe Reservior Dam - Used Stolen ID, Feb'84

To Snoods...
I just found out the easiest way to tell if there is a thread for something yet or not. Go to "search thread" at near the top of the page and search for the (usually) 4-digit NamUS number if it's about a UID. It's nearly impossible to search for all the UID/missing in a state because the state "tags" aren't long enough to count as a word, so it disregards them and you get results for ALL of the UID's/Missing.
I've had that trouble when I see something and I'm looking to see if there is already a thread or if I need to start one. I can't believe I just figured that out (this morning, to tell you the truth!).

No. Hopefully they will see that post. I just sent a msg about a thread that was in the wrong forum and I don't wanna bug them too much all at once.

I'm kind of in the midst of putting my new computer together and it's more difficult than I'd imagined. The box that I'd hoped would have the manual (or some sort of guide) was actually four coffee mugs. So I've been trying to track down my mom to let her know I've got her mugs and she's got part of my computer!

*Mod just replied so I mentioned the merge....

Lol no problem, I'll alert them from my post. Good luck with your computer!

I wonder if I should ask them to leave this title on it or merge them together somehow, it seems to be an attention grabber. Gah, I'm sorry for the confusion. I did look for another thread, but obviously not hard enough.

Mods here is the other thread:

<snip>

Wouldn't 71" make him 5'11"? If so, I think that might eliminate a few more of those on the shorter end...

A little bit more on Kevin: http://www.doenetwork.org/media/news90.html

"Ellsworth, 18 at the time of his disappearance, was reported to have been sleeping in a basement room of the Rex Hotel the night it burnt down. He'd done some janitorial work for his father in the hotel and had a key. After flames engulfed the hotel, the car Ellsworth had been using earlier that day was found across the street from the hotel. After the fire, his remains were not found, and it was rumored that a woman recognized a person with Ellsworth's distinctive style of clothing walking in the Falls the next day."

Interesting...sounds like he survived the fire. Perhaps he ran away because he somehow felt responsible for the fire...

Told Carlk90245. I don't know if he's the right Mod but he does a lot on the UID's.

Thank you bflocket, and thank you for the tip on searching for a thread, it's a good one!
