GUILTY NM - Ashlynne Mike, 11, San Juan County, 2 May 2016

Maybe I am missing something?
I am assuming the bus was a school bus and not a city bus?
Were they the only children let off at that bus stop? Did the bus stop at their driveway? Were there other children around?
How was he able to get the two children into his van?
Did anyone witness the abduction or did they find out about the abduction after the brother was released?
Was the maroon van following the bus? Did the bus driver see the van?

i just read on one of the searchers facebook page that the search has been called off and more information will be released soon...I dont think this is going to be good....

Oh no...

Her poor brother too. Argghhhh! :(

Sounds like a classic child predator abduction by a sex offender, registered or not. Hope it was quick and her suffering was minimal. This sucks so bad! (Understatement) :(

I'm so sorry for her and family.

Eta: soooo freaking ANGRY!!!!

When a child is abducted, how do the searchers know where to search? In this case a vehicle was involved and the abducter could have been miles away.
It is very sad for this child and her family. The poor brother, who knows what trauma he has and will face because of this.

""We are still looking for the suspect," Fisher said. "Now it's a murder case."

The FBI has set up a command center in Shiprock.

An Amber Alert was issued for the girl this morning after she and her brother were allegedly abducted in Lower Fruitland.

Ashlynne Mike and her brother Ian Mike, 9, were taken Monday afternoon after getting off of the bus in Lower Fruitland when returning home from school, according to a Facebook post from her family."

"A man in his late 30s who was wearing a baseball cap and driving a maroon van with tinted windows and a New Mexico license plate allegedly took the two children.

Ian was later found near Red Valley Ariz., according to the Facebook post.

Ashlynne was last seen wearing a pink jacket, light blue denim pants and purple shoes. She is 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds. She has long brown hair. According to the Facebook post, Ian last saw Ashlynne at the Shiprock pinnacle."

"The make of the vehicle is not known.

A search party met at 8 a.m. at the Shiprock pinnacle and another search party met at 8 a.m. at the Northern Agency BIA building in Shiprock, according to the Facebook post.

The FBI and Navajo law enforcement are investigating the girl's disappearance.

Detective Lt. Kyle Lincoln said the San Juan County Sheriff's Office has assigned detectives to assist in the search.

Farmington police spokeswoman Georgette Allen said the department's K-9 unit was dispatched earlier this morning."

(This is a great question. Marking my spot to come back to this, too ticked off to post right now.)

FTR, no bombshell here, but he's likely done this before and will likely do this again imo.

"The abductor is at large.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 505-889-1300."

Missing child's body found near Shiprock monument

Am I understanding this correctly that she was abducted near Shiprock, NM, brother was dropped off in Red Valley, AZ and Ashlynne's body was found back in Shiprock? I wonder why the guy drove back to Shiprock. I am guessing this is his awareness space? I hope they catch him soon!

The first link shows the distance between Shiprock and Red Valley. The second link states the the brother was found near the Arizona state line. Either way not all that far.

Two other articles that caught my eye. Notice the abductors age (late thirties) in the first link and then the age of one of the men arrested in a child sex sting last week. I wonder if the three are still in jail, and if not I sure hope they check in to their activities since making bail. It may be a stretch but like I said it caught my eye. BTW Farmington NM (where two of the three arrested are from) is only about 28 miles east of Shiprock.
