awh Carbuff, we have posted at the same time and have not seen your post prior to hitting my submit button.

I was researching maps as well, and yes, seems a bit confusing. It seems a bit unlikely that remains washed ashore at corner of Shore Pkwy & Bay 46th St, Brooklyn as mentioned in one article, as that location is behind highway and quite inland already, unless of course floods reach that far. I have unpuzzled that Bath Beach is greater area just above Coney Island which includes Calvert Vaux Park, rather than Bath beach being located in Calvert Vaux Park, as I have previously thought and searched.

There are somewhat mixed reviews of the park from visitors but it helps to visualize the feel of the area/park.

Heh, I didn't see your post either. That's okay, better double information and not enough, and you had somethings I didn't.

I would be interested in knowing about the flood plain. That bit about the elbow in the tree makes me wonder whether it was thrown there or if it might have been washed there in high water. It's a very weird case all around.

nothing. no rule outs on namus.

im guessing that family may not have been in contact w her in some time. maybe been on drugs? from elsewhere and made her way to NYC? a friend of mine who is from WV is a recovered heoin addict and she spent a lot of time in NYC while using (in the 90's) ppl come and go from other places.

Any new info? I don't know how I didn't hear about this, it sounds gruesome.

I know, I just cant believe this poor woman was butchered and discarded and there are no leads.

Even still, you'd figure someone would say, "oh hey, my friend so and so had the same tattoo on HER leg," or a girl named Monique might think "that could be my mother they found."

I would like to bring attention to one more case in approximate area, a bit to the west on the LI island, the same waters. For some time already I do have strong feeling that the case might be related even though it is relatively recent discovery, 2015.

Dismembered parts of female found in different locations and at different times around Calvert Vaux Park. Some limbs washed up on the shore, some found in trees, gruesome. Head never located. She had tattoo as well. It would be great if some of you had a look at the case and tattoo and unscramble first letter.

We all call her "Monique" even though first letter to some (and to me) does not really look like M. I have thought of Ronique but never heard of such a name. By google it seems that Ronique is used mainly by African American women.

Please share your thoughts.

Well, she definitely disappeared back in 1990. Unfortunately, a lot of young women disappear long before they are actually deceased.

First remains of Monique Jane Doe were located on 4th Jan 2015, date in thread title needs to be updated. It was also mentioned that remains seemed to be there for period of time so we are probably looking for person who disappeared sometimes in 2014 or prior.

I was researching her case yesterday again due to very similar circumstances in recent case of Leondra Foster, also in Brooklyn.
I looked further into possibility of tattoo being Ronique. Name seems to be popular with young and old generation, most of them African American and mainly of Caribbean descent.

She was found with

Medical implants - a mesh stent and an intrauterine device are present within the tissue of the pelvis

Until now I have thought she had mesh stent in artery, or around her heart (like bypass), and only yesterday I noticed that it actually does say mesh stent being in pelvis area as well as contraception device.

Mesh stent in pelvis area is usually due to prolapse

A prolapse is a medical condition where an organ in the abdominal, rectal, or pelvic area falls out of place

Pelvic organ prolapse is common in women, especially after childbirth and as women increase in age.

If above is correct it would indicate that she has given birth at some point or even multiple times, so children are around, but also no longer wanted more or could not have any more due to medical issues (prolapse) and therefore IUD was fitted.

Last two seems to me most plausible. As she was dismembered and some remains were already skeletal there is possibility that she could have had more tattoos.
