Found Deceased OK - Aja Johnson, 7, Geronimo, 24 January 2010 - #3

Aja's Grandmother visits scene
http://www.koco.com/news/23030055/detail.html

Aja Johnson's funeral is scheduled for 1:30 p.m Wednesday at the Vondel L. Smith Chapel on South Western Boulevard. The family has set up a memorial fund and any metro Bancfirst locations will accept donations.

The state Medical Examiner's office says it is treating Aja's death as a homicide and Hobbs' as a suicide. Pending toxicology reports will help confirm the cause of death. The M.E.'s office says Hobbs didn't have any stab wounds or a gunshot wound, so it is possible he overdosed.

Aja's family talks about abuse
J.J. Johnson eventually won custody of his daughter, but says Aja's time with Hobbs took it's toll. Her family also told us some of the key people involved Aja's case are the same DHS employees who worked on the Kelsey Briggs case. After months of documented abuse Kelsey was placed back into an abusive home. She died of abuse in 2005 at age two.

Dunkin says, "Kelsey and now Aja. If DHS had done their job, they might have both been alive today."

This sounds like they are blaming DHS for Aja's death. IMO the only one responsible for Aja's death is the monster Hobbs. Her mother Tonya also played a role as she put Aja back in the lion's den.

Oriah - thanks to you for all you have done - thanks to your amazing animals, your good heartedness, and never ending life spirit. I continue to be heartbroken and find myself impatient with other searches taking too much time to get started.

Thanks to you and JTSYS for all that you do for the missing - your work is invaluable. Take good care of yourelf! :blowkiss:

Thank you, and I understand. We are now revising our approach to get out as quickly as possible. I hope this one is a runaway (spring break here started today) and not too far from home. But taking no chances. That's thanks to Aja.

As soon as I get the chance- we're headed out the door- I'll post you a more uplifting story that might help your spirits. ((Hugs))) eyes. I truly know exactly how you feel.

I see Aja's funeral date has been set (thanks to the poster up thread)..seeing that actually calmed me somewhat....I never thought I would feel so encouraged by a "funeral". However, in this case I am relieved that Aja was found and will be given a proper "homegoing".

Aja has taught me to count my blessings and not take so many things for granted...and not the obvious things, but those things like a funeral...not everyone has that opportunity. That's something that I have not appreciated as much as I do now...and from this day on. Thanks Aja!

PS - Good Luck Oriah...you know where to come for sleuthers...anything you need, we gotcha!

How could DHS be responsible for this? They put Aja in JJ's custody, Tonya was not supposed to have unsupervised visits, Aja was not supposed to be anywhere near Lester. JJ and Tonya both violated court orders, but Tonya didn't deserve to die like she did and JJ did not deserve to lose his baby girl, and Aja most definately did not deserve what she got. Many mistakes were made here and I'm sure all involved would give anything to go back and change the past. Aja is the ultimate victim, and Lester is the monster that holds all responsibility for this horrible tragedy.

R.I.P. Aja and Tonya, and my prayers to those left on Earth that love both of them.

The FBI offered the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation the assistance of its Child Abduction Response Team in the search for 7-year-old Aja Johnson, but their proposal was declined, FBI spokesman Gary Johnson said Thursday.
"We offered our assistance,” Johnson said.
"That offer was declined. I don’t know why, but we were disappointed and frustrated our offer for assistance was declined.”
The Child Abduction Response Team is composed of special agents from across the nation who are experienced in such cases.
Johnson said the team is on call 24 hours a day and can be flown in at any time to assist local agencies with abduction cases.

Another sad case of turf wars.

O/T but -last nights' runaway- found safe at 2:11 this PM. :)
Thank god at least for all the little miracles that happen. Its warm and dry- but she was still out on the streets. And I'm pretty sure most of us know what happens out there to 14 year olds.

Thanks,
Oriah

When the public finger pointing begins, you know for sure that somebody someplace screwed up bad.

Just when I think I'm getting over the heartbreak of Aja - this comes up! All I can say: HOW DARE THEM DECLINE HELP! :furious:

This is the email for the Oklahoma State Representative that has called for an investigation. Even though I don't live in Oklahoma, I sent him an email anyway. In the mailing I also asked for him to look into the DHS complaint. The below email address would be a good place to start complaining!

richardmorrissette@okhouse.gov

This email address was published by the state of Oklahoma so I assumed it was alright too put it here.

I e-mailed this man - and I actually heard back. He IS listening! Please everyone - think about sending an e-mail! moo

JOHNSON, Aja Danielle, age 7, of OKC, was suddenly taken from this earthly life and though we will miss her and our hearts are broken, we take peace in knowing that she is resting in the arms of Jesus and has been reunited with her mother. Aja was born Jan. 5, 2003 in OKC to John James “JJ” Johnson and Tonya Duncan. “Punky” as her father lovingly called her, was a shining light in her first grade class at Parmalee Elementary School in OKC. She had many friends and dreamed of being a cheerleader. Aja was a happy little girl with a sweet spirit and she loved everyone. Now go and rest in peace little Aja. We love you. Memories of Aja will be forever cherished by her father, JJ Johnson; stepmother, Terri Johnson; brother, Torrence; sisters, Koressa, Shawna, Holly and Betsy; numerous aunts and uncles, other extended family members and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any BancFirst where the family has set up a Memorial Trust Fund in Aja’s name.

Under subpoena, Oklahoma killer Lester Hobbs’ kin finally reveal past of threats

<snipped>

Five of Lester Hobbs’ relatives refused to take polygraph tests, said Richard Goss, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent in charge. Those relatives were forced by subpoena to appear in Comanche County court on March 26 for questioning behind closed doors

Among those questioned was Mildred Anderson of Geronimo — Hobbs’ sister and matriarch of the family, Smith said.

"They initially agreed to take the polygraph tests, but then failed to show up. Then they refused ...

Smith learned that Hobbs had not only threatened at various times to kill his estranged wife and Aja’s mother, Tonya LeAnn Hobbs, and her children but also his brother, Buck Hobbs.

"The strange thing is all these people are now gathered in one place down in Geronimo,” Smith said. "Who’s invited to dinner? Buck. Who comes down from Oklahoma City? Tonya. It was like pouring gasoline on the fire.”
"Mildred Anderson told me there were several places Lester could have went to hide,” Smith said.

Anderson offered three possible locations: Mexico, a remote spot in the Texas Panhandle that Lester had discovered during his travels and California, where he had an "anti- social” brother who could "survive in the wilderness like a mountain man,” Smith said

RE: Aja's Obituary (Thanks Darlin Gal)

What a beautiful little girl she was. Reading this brought the tears streaming again, especially this:

<snipped>

Her daddy called her "Punky"...

Aja dreamed of being a cheerleader...

<snipped>

I had to stop and say a special prayer for all of her family that loves her dearly, and a special prayer for her daddy, step mom, siblings and her little friends and classmates. How frightened these little ones must be knowing what has happened to their friend and classmate. I will continue to pray for all of them and hope that the school will get counselors in place to help these little ones. I know this is a small town so I'm not sure what the local resources are, but I do know they're plentiful in Lawton and hope and pray they will reach out to the children, as well as the family, to help them cope with such tragedy. God bless them all.

Aja honey, I'll bet you would've been an awesome cheerleader here on earth; but I'm sure an awesome cheerleader was needed in heaven and you've already assumed the role. Keep smiling down on us honey, and every time I watch the cheerleaders, I'll be thinking of you sweetie!

Aja was kidnapped in Geronimo, but she lived in Oklahoma City, where she attended Parmelee Elementary School.

Thanks WH. I emailed Representative Morrissette and took the liberty of posting this information in the Weleetka girls' murder thread here.

Maybe a mod could help me out?

I also e-mailed Rep. Morrissette and received a response. One of his questions is how I know about the case, who am I, etc.

I know Tricia doesn't want the members using WS to get things done, but any ideas on what I can say regarding the info I have on this case - where I learned of it? I'm stuck! TIA
