GUILTY OR - Yashanee Vaughn, 14, Portland, 19 March 2011

So, that most certainly IS Yashanee's father's FB page and that must be her throwing the hand sign. The father was most recently arrested in Portland, however, in mid-December. I'm not certain where he lives currently.

Vinelink lists Yashanee's father as being under Community Supervision until this September by Multnomah County's (Portland) Gang Unit. He seems to have ties to Compton, CA. He refers to his daughter as both Yashawnee and Bonnie Bang on his FB page. I guess that's the Bonnie B tattoo.

A MS page which comes up for Yashanee's father. I don't know what sign he's throwing. Does anyone?

FWIW, I think the Youtube link above is by a friend who simply misspelled Yashanee's name.

And LE are absolutely certain that there's no gang involvement in this death? None?

Vigil Held

The family of a Portland 14-year-old missing and presumed murdered was set to hold another vigil for Yashanee Vaughn Tuesday, as the search for her body continued one month since she disappeared.

Earlier this month, a grand jury decided there was enough evidence to indict 16-year-old Parrish Bennette, Jr. with the murder of Vaughn, his 14-year-old girlfriend. Police said Vaughn was killed in a house not far from Rocky Butte.

The vigil Tuesday was set for the lot across the street from Madison High School at 2700 NE 82nd Avenue at 7 p.m..

Detectives now think there were others that could also be involved in her disappearance and murder and have more information.

Portland church puts up songs, prayers for missing Yashanee Vaughn

They cried out on a rainy Friday night for the lost Yashanee Vaughn, shouting and singing to God for an end to the mystery piercing a mother's heart.

About 100 people -- young and old, women and men, white and black -- filled the sanctuary of Maranatha Church of God in Northeast Portland for a "gospel musical benefit" remembering the 14-year-old girl who went missing March 19.

Portland police called the fatal shooting of Marcus Miller, father of Yashanee Vaughn's half brother, a 'tragic coincidence'

"Marcus Deangelo Miller, the 40-year-old man fatally shot in Portland over the weekend, was the father of Yashanee Vaughn's older half-brother, friends and relatives said. Vaughn is the 14-year-old Portland girl believed to have been killed in mid-March, but her body still has not been located...."

and

"....Police said Miller had ties to gangs in the past, but it's unknown if those ties had anything to do with his death. Miller had an attempted murder conviction in 1991. "He had a past, but his present was totally different," said IM, a friend of Miller's and Yashanee's family. She said Miller's younger brother was killed more than 20 years ago during a dispute over a pitbull...."

Parrish Bennette told his father his gun "went off" and hit Yashanee Vaughn, according to Portland homicide detectives

"Parrish Bennette Jr. admitted to his father that his gun just "went off" and he shot Yashanee Vaughn and disposed of the 14-year-old girl's body, but when questioned by detectives in late March he denied making the statements, according to a court document prosecutors filed this week. The document for the first time details the evidence that Portland homicide detectives have linking 16-year-old Bennette to Vaughn's killing, and will be presented Friday morning at his bail hearing...."

and

"...detectives found a professional-type steam carpet cleaner in the home. They looked closer, and spotted "slight discoloration" in Bennette's bedroom carpet. They pulled the carpet up and found "large and obvious blood stains in the carpet pad." When they pulled the carpet pad up, they found "..blood had soaked through the carpet, through the carpet pad and into the wooden sub-floor," prosecutors wrote. Police also found several items of bloody clothing, blood spatter under Bennette's desk, and a "distinct swirl pattern" of blood on the wall beside the desk, consistent with an attempted clean-up..."

These kids are so young, it's heartbreaking. I think that there's no way for the girl's family to keep denying any possible gang involvement. How much more clear could it be?

Blood spatter indicates Yashanee Vaughn was beaten, bled profusely, Portland detective says

"A forensic analysis of the blood splatter in Parrish Bennette Jr.'s bedroom indicates that Yashanee Vaughn was struck or beaten and then left to lie on the floor while bleeding profusely, prosecutors said Friday during Bennette's bail hearing. "There was some kind of a blow or beating to Yashanee," Detective Mark Slater said...."

and

"...Other afternoon testimony included details about a gun police recovered that they suspect was the murder weapon; and recorded statements that Bennette made to a friend, boasting that he was a pimp...."

and

"....Police were able to match the blood in Bennette's room to Vaughn after obtaining a toothbrush she had used, and DNA samples from her mother, father and grandmother. With that, the state lab found a DNA match between blood on the floor and wall of the bedroom and Vaughn..."

and

"..."This was not an accident. This was a shooting and a beating," Slater testified. "That's two violent acts...."

Judge: No Bail For Teen Accused Of Killing Missing Girl

A Multnomah County judge has denied bail to a young man accused of killing 14-year-old Yashanee Vaughn.

A lengthy bail hearing for Parish Bennette, Jr. stretched over two days. Judge Richard Baldwin's ruling was short -- just one sentence.

Bennette, who's 16-years-old, is being held in adult detention.

New search today, very very specific. Police will address the media at 11am PDT.

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2011/07/search_resumes_for_yashanee_va.html

"Today's search comes two days after attorneys for Bennette held a private settlement conference Wednesday with Multnomah Circuit Judge Eric Bergstrom. Prosecutors met privately with the judge in his chambers afterward, but would not comment.

Police are focusing on an area within ten blocks of the home where Bennette lived in the 8500 block of Northeast Russell, the suspected crime scene."

Unfortunately, the police didn't say much at 11.

Portland police return to Rocky Butte, say search for Yashanee Vaughn likely to be painstaking

"But at an 11 a.m. news conference, a police spokesman provided only limited information about the search, why it's being conducted, and exactly what searchers think they might find.

"We want to be thorough," Lt. Robert King said to a collection of reporters gathered on the butte and added that the idea is to gather evidence that will lead to "a successful prosecution" of the case.

But he sidestepped all direct questions, saying that he was "not able to provide more details."

He also said searchers would remain on the butte into the night and through the weekend, if necessary, and said the search was likely to be a "slow and painstaking process" but the goal is to "bring Yashanee home to her family.""

Hi, I think LE must have some pretty good info that she was put up on Rocky Butte. I so hope she is found on this search.

We need a Mod to correct the spelling of Yashanee's name {no 'w'} in the title of the thread.
