I also think that it opens up a whole new thought of what happened to Natalee. Perhaps the reason that he would not call paramedics or take her to the ER was because there was no accident. He outright murdered her, and the murder was one that could not be masked as an accident because of the method in which he killed her. So the body had to be disposed of so that it would never be found.

I can't remember who posted that they wondered why Joran's father was thinking looking down from above. But in my opinion Paulus is not looking down at all - he is down, as far as can be. And it is only a matter of time before Paulus and his son have a reunion in a hot, hot place. JMHO and all that.

Hi Kateyes, I always thought Joran's saying Natalee fell from the balcony to the patio below was to cover himself if the ALE were to ever test that area for blood. It could be where she died, her blood washed away by an accomplice, but realizing chemicals could tell the tale of the blood what with the spatter pattern, etc. He came out with that statement late in the game I think after probably giving much thought to it IMO.

None of the major American news networks have even mentioned this report, so I think it stands as a rumor at this time.
 
Hi Scandi - very astute to remember the new story about the fall from the balcony and connect it to yet another effort by Joran to cover his so-guilty butt. I totally agree with you line of thought. He is conniving, but it seems he had a rage he couldn't stop, and there was no support system to rescue him this time. As much as this news was a shock it was also not a shock at all. I bet many sleuthers KWIM.

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker but first time poster. I've seen quite a few links that have recently gone up about van der Sloot's suicide and I agree that suicide would be the easy way out for this guy. I have serious doubt he would actually kill himself though. He's been nothing but arrogant and cocky these past 5 years and even stated he has not lost a night's sleep. Taking a look at the prisons in Peru, I don't think he'd last long there. If the other inmates did not get to him first, he would certainly suffer from the lack of ... ahem... amenities that would be provided in some other countries.

However, after reading of his alleged suicide, a comment made by the Father of the Peruvian girl is really standing out for me.... he was quoted as saying..and I'm paraphrasing here because I do not have the exact quote but he said to the parents of the other girl (Natalee Holloway's), you do not have to worry now, he will be taken care of.

On NG, that reporter from Aruba (Renfro?) was on the horn to NG saying the "entire island was stunned and in total shock" at the news that .. VDS is the target of an international Man Hunt!

Just goes to show you, just how deep... the extent of the original cover-up Really was! When reporters lie.. YOU know you have a seriously corrupt system.

Would not surprise me if Reporter R started the suicide rumor about VDS so people wouldn't be on the alert for his appearance and thus buy him some traveling time.
 
Joran is really not a very smart man. He is trying to hide his lily white complexion and overly tall frame in a region of the world where most of the inhabitants are of a lovely shade of brown and, for the most part, are relatively short in stature. He is going to literally stand out head and shoulders above the rest of the crowd.

I hope that he is found quickly--alive--so that he will finally be brought to justice and put behind bars. Knowing that he would spend the rest of his life in a Peruvian prison almost gives me a (sick and perverse) sense of glee. He will rue these latest actions for the rest of his life, and all without the luxuries to which he has apparently grown accustomed.

Justice can be sweet. I do hope that it is doled out swiftly and succinctly, as well.

This whole thing just makes me sick. What a tragedy that another young woman has lost her life at the hands of this creep.

The blood of Stephany is not only on his hands, but on the hands of every person, who helped to cover up the truth behind what happened to Natalie.

Family members, law enforcement, politicians, reporters--they are all complicit in permitting this to happen to another family.

They should all be charged with Stephany's murder.
 
Hopefully tomorrow we'll have a lot of new information..............

The autopsy took place this afternoon and the family had a wake tonight. If Stephany fought back, and from the description of the room it sounds like she did, there may be direct physical evidence on her body - DNA, to link Joran to her murder.

The forensic processing of the hotel room may also yield more direct evidence as it appears Joran was sloppy without any plan.

Joran may be seeking shelter in a country that doesn't have extradition to Peru, but he may not be successful in making it there. He may be successful in eluding the authorities for a few days, but without his father's help, he likely won't be successful there either. Just looking at the map of the area, it's going to be difficult for him to reach Argentina without help and without taking chances. I think he'll be captured in a few days...........at least I hope so!
