Merry Christmas Beth and Dave! Oh heck, Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::behindbar

HLN has the Fmr Assist Dir of the FBI (in charge during the Natalee Holloway disappearance) on right now...and he thinks that the extradition will take a few days...with paperwork and protocol. More after the break.

Apparently, Kimster, there are no toilets in the jails there...lol. Just a hole in the ground.

MSNBC about to report....

So, can he confess to the murder of Natalee in exchange for being imprisoned in Aruba instead of Peru?

Michelle K. from MSNBC reporting....

Peruvian General is holding a press conference on Fox News in a few minutes...this should be interesting. Hopefully, all the 24 hr news stations will cover it.

Does anyone know if his mother still lives in Aruba? I would love to see her reaction!!

If that is true...it should be a model for prisons everywhere.

Prison conditions in Peru are poor; 91 percent of the prisons have no medical facilities, 18 percent are without bathrooms, 77 percent do not provide beds or matresses, and all are lacking with regard to prison uniforms and adequate meals. http://www.ncjrs.gov/App/publication....aspx?id=75201

Arrested individuals must be brought before a judge within 24 hours. The judge can order up to 10 days of detention, and a provisional detention can be extended to 50 days. Bail is not allowed. To provide for judicial checks, the laws call for superior court review of all cases involving pretrial detention in July and at Christmas.. . . .
Although Peru's laws encourage a speedy investigation and trial, an increase in crime and lack of criminal justice personnel have resulted in considerable delays.

So, can he confess to the murder of Natalee in exchange for being imprisoned in Aruba instead of Chile?

Doubt it. He has confessed and retracted too many times now. Peru will not be interested in anything he has to say on that.

Oh Leila;

I feel so sorry for both families, but even if Joran says where Natalie is, her remains are lost in the sea and most likely not recoverable. It will take a miracle for her to be found.

Condolences to both families, and hold on for the long ride ahead, we are right here behind you all the way.

HLN
Father of SR: ...it is the same scenario. saw her in the casino. took her from the casino. there are too many coincidences.

Praying for both families today.

Thank you, Lord.

Thanks! He's been traveling! That's pretty close to Argentina, and I bet he might have been trying to find a way over the mountains into Argentina.

Driving distance/time from Arica to Santiago, Chile
1,989 km – about 1 day 12 hours

JVM: He was headed to Vina del Mar - resort, gambling town

Viña offers all the amenities of a resort city:luxurious estates, including the summer home of the President of Chile, waterfront hotels, parks and gardens, social clubs, a municipal casino and theater, sport facilities, beaches, golf tennis, horse racing, lively nightlife, fine dining, and easy access to the nearby beaches and resort towns of Zapallar, Concon, Cachagua, and the fast-growing and hugely popular town of Reñaca.
Location:

Located 74 miles (120km) northwest of Santiago and 5 miles (8km) north of Valparaíso on the Pacific Ocean, Viña is in the central zone of Valparaiso and well connected to the central valleys and locations north and south of the city.

This is wonderful news indeed. I am so thankful he was caught quickly. Hopefully, no one will let him get away this time.
