Busy....thanks so much for this post! It's good to finally have a direct source that proves that neither Marie nor Crystal had any kind of knowledge about where those locks were located on the door or how they worked (easy or hard to open), or whether the door was locked or unlocked that night. So, I assume that now we can finally put to rest the whole theory that the two of them scouted out the mobile home, learned how to bump the exact kind of locks that were on that door, and snuck in there on a cold, winter night to use their newly acquired skills!
----------
raeann, don't forget to add that they snuck in without making any noise and without leaving any evidence of themselves and most importantly, kidnapped Haleigh within 4 inches, excuse me, 4 feet from a sleeping Misty and little brother Jr. I would say all in all, quite a feat!:)

Actually, no...we can't rule out that theory. It doesn't prove anything except that Crystal made the statement instead of Ronald. She could have been lying and only saying it to make it appear that Ronald was wrong in some way. I did not see where it would clear Marie either.

I guess it is possible that is why they said those things, but then that is also quite revealing as it PROVES how very smart they are, that Crystal is completely mentally alert and able to think quickly and clearly on her feet. This definitely doesn't fit in with the preferred characterization of her by many here of being an unintelligent, uneducated, drug addled addict!

I don't understand how Crystal making that statement makes it appear that Ronald was wrong in any way. Everything is not about Ronald.

I wouldn't think so. Both Ron and Teresa were adamant about her being afraid of the dark and that she would never have gone outside on her own. It's in the interview where he's wearing the blue striped shirt.
-----------
Your post reminded of a little nagging thing that has bothered throughout this case. I could have missed this little tid bit of information, if so, I'm sure I will be corrected. I don't remember hearing or reading or seeing where Misty, Ron or TN went outside of the mobile home to look for Haleigh. From what I remember, both Misty and Ron made statements about looking inside.

Strange, I know but even if Haleigh was afraid of the dark as they attest to, if the child is missing and the back door is open, wouldn't you look outside too?

Also, I just searched for an interview with Misty that was on very early where she said that she woke from a loud noise. Does anyone remember this one or should I give up Coronas? I know I read it or saw an interview where she mentioned this. She then went on to say she got up to go to the bathroom....
I know your memory is better than mine. Does anyone remember this too?

Hey Lone,

I don't remember either Ron or Misty searching outdoors. But, you give my memory too much credit ! :blowkiss:

If I was Misty, I'm not sure I would've gone outside to search right away. I think I would have grabbed Jr; gotten into a closet with RC's gun; and called 911, my brother (who lived so close), and everyone else I knew. If I had been by myself, I would've gone outdoors to look. But I wouldn't have gone unless I knew the trailer and Jr were secure. If Misty didn't have a key - how could she do that ? BTW - is that true that she didn't have keys to the place she was living at ?

But, once I knew Jr was safe, yeah, I would have been looking, waking up all the neighbors, the works.

I think I remember the noise waking Misty as well, but don't have a link. In any event, don't give up Coronas - what's pizza without them !!

Bolded by me part: So much is discussed about the back door. In this transcript Ron states that he bought locks for both doors. I do not recall if the front door was investigated to see if someone "bumped" this lock to enter and then left out the side door and staged the block holding it open. He also stated that he had the only key to the locks. From the June 29th press release from Ron's attorney, they are insinuating that Crystal was let into the mobile home by Haleigh. I noticed that the attorney is very careful not to identify the doors, it is worded "a" door and "a" was left open. I believe another press release will most likely be issued later insinuating that Haleigh opened the front door

Are you serious about this press release? I am so glad I have not read that! What kind of a father would allow his attorney to use the tried and true---and absolutely horrible---- traditional legal strategy of "BLAME THE FEMALE VICTIM"?!?! They are using that against an innocent five year old child? I truly think I might be sick now, and I am so, so sad for this poor little girl whose own father would allow her to be used like this for his own benefit. I know I will be bashed for this, but it is just my opinion from what is obviously being done here.

Yeah, lonetraveler, I picked up on the attorney....slippery, aren't they? You have to read everything they say so carefully.

I truly don't understand the out cry of people being upset over the press release because RC lawyer insinuated Sheffield involvement, hasn't KP and her crew been insinuating or actually coming right out and stating RC and Misty are involved in Haleighs disappearance? Its ok for Crystal's attorney to point fingers, but if RC's attorney does that it means RC is guilty and they are placing the blame elsewhere?

Honestly, Busy.. I don't think there are too many people that are too crazy about any of the atty's in this case.

You know that old joke... "What do you call 1000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?" ;)

Yes....

More likely Misty know more than they have said. RC takes the heat by association.

Did KP make a press release and detail how Ron secreted Haleigh?

I know people have really come on strong about his character....myself being among them, but I don't recall her outlining a plan of how haleigh disappeared by their hands.

I could have missed it though....willing to admit that.

Actually, he is placing the blame on HaLeigh opening the door to her own "alleged" abductor. Ii do not for a moment believe this scenario. Defense strategy targeting potential jury pool. I believe that LE started the train on the involvement of Misty with stating MITK. RC put himself there by his own behavior.

It is also quite revealing that right at this point in time they were feeling that they needed to begin to publicly employ "DEFENSE" strategies. Doesn't this date coincide closely to the time of the search in Baker County???

AND the week a Round Table is expected to occur, correct ?

Since when would lying prove someone to be smart, alert, or able to think quickly or clearly on their feet?! :waitasec:

I don't recall saying myself or seeing any proof that they were LYING. It was just a logic correlation to the insinuation that was being made against them. JMOO

Since the press release mentions the searches...

I would take a wild guess and say they did this to show they asked for an investigation of Crystal and family long before KP said they asked LE to come and search. Perhaps they were the ones to let LE know about the buried animal/animals on the property instead of the other side. ;)

This isn't a "defense strategy", imo. This is letting the public know there are other reasons for the search to have been done.
