SC - Paul Murdaugh,22 & Mom Margaret,52, 7 June 2021 *Media, Maps, Timeline-NO DISCUSSION*

Just an absolute tooth jarring filing by the state in connection with and in opposition to Alex Murdaugh’s request for a new trial based on alleged juror interference. There’s an old saying that says facts talk, and walks. It seems the team Murdaugh may be wearing sneakers right now. Full of sound and fury… sound familiar with the continued motions made by team Murdaugh. Always are two sides to the story. As I have said, all along an overwhelming number of jurors have said there was no juror interference with their deliberations.

Regarding the Writ of Prohibition that Team Murdaugh filed with the South Carolina Supreme Court last week seeking to have Judge Clifton Newman recused from hearing any further Murdaugh matters is classic forum or judge shopping. The traditional and procedurally correct method that should’ve been used in order to determine whether Judge Newman should be recused required the Murdaugh team first to have actually filed a motion in front of Judge Newman and give him the opportunity to address their allegations against him. The state had rightly filed an opposition to the stay for prohibition by arguing that such an extraordinary writ doesn’t lie because the normal remedy of a motion to recuse has not been filed. I agree with the state’s response. This is highly disrespectful to this venerable judge. EB

@TheEricBland

On behalf of the financial victims of Alex Murdaugh, whom we represent, we are sincerely appreciative of the dogged determination of Alan Wilson and Creighton waters in their pursuit of justice. Alex Murdaugh’s guilty plea will finally allow his financial victims to begin the process of healing and it will free the state up to refocus its time, attention and resources toward the preservation of the murder convictions, the Labor Day, shooting charges, and any other drug conspiracy charges that may come down the pike. Justice is rarely pretty or perfect, but there should be no confusion that justice was served in this case. I have no doubt that at Alex Murdaugh will never get a fresh breath of air outside of state prison, and if he lives long enough federal prison before he dies, and he deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars. Hampton County to partner with Mallory Beach-inspired Mal's Palz, build animal shelter

11.13.2023

The tragic, untimely death of a Hampton County teen may ultimately leave behind a positive impact in the community she called home, and for the animals she called friends.

The Hampton County Council has agreed to explore a partnership with the Mallory Beach-inspired Mal's Palz Foundation with the ultimate goal of building a new county animal shelter.

The County Council voted unanimously Monday, Nov. 6, to approve a resolution "committing to exploring the possibility of partnering with Mal's Palz," a charitable organization founded in memory of Beach, a 19-year college student from Hampton County who died in a highly publicized February 2019 boating accident in Beaufort County that involved the now notorious Alex Murdaugh family.

No one should be surprised by today’s plea deal for #AlexMurdaugh’s on the financial crimes.

1- He already pleaded to the same crimes in federal court.

2- because of this, and his admission that he stole the money, going through a trial is unnecessary and a waste of tax $$ (cont)

3- He was clearly guilty of the financial crimes and admitted to them during the murder trial- although that testimony couldn’t be used against him in the $$$ cases

4- AM has been cooperating with the feds for some time- from what we have heard (cont)

5- if you look at it from AM’s vantage point- fighting for a new murder trial is the bigger fight

6-for the state, AM tells them what he did and how he did it. (Could more $$$ be recovered? Just a thought)

7- another thought: one of the cases involved allegations of drug trafficking. What does #AlexMurdaugh know about that in SC, and is he handing over valuable info about the drug trade?

“Attorneys Eric Bland and Ronnie Richter, who represent some of Murdaugh’s victims, issued a statement that called Murdaugh a “monster” and said in part, “Justice was served in this case. Sentencing for this play of guilt will be in the near future. Alex’s victims will get a chance to look Alex Murdaugh in the eye and his lawyers and tell them how they feel about him, how he manipulated them, and the damage that they have done to them in their lives.”

But before federal investigators shared the device, Dove said, they decided to make one more attempt to unlock the phone using a passcode that Dove hadn’t tried — Paul’s birthday.

It worked, Dove said, and by late March 2022, he’d retrieved the device and obtained a copy of the video described by Gibson….

The code that broke open the Murdaugh murder case was right at investigators’ fingertips. It still took months to crack.

A lawyer representing a family of victims in the financial crimes of disgraced lawyer and convicted killer Alex Murdaugh says he and his clients are planning to confront Murdaugh in court and offered a preview of what he intends to say, according to a report.

Murdaugh, who faces another 27 years behind bars for the offenses after pleading guilty, has a sentencing hearing set for Tuesday after pleading guilty to the financial offenses.

At one time, Murdaugh was the trusted lawyer of Gloria Satterfield’s family. She was employed by Murdaugh as a housekeeper and died at age 57 at his home after tripping and falling in 2018. He had been accused of conspiring to defraud Satterfield’s estate and insurance company out of millions of dollars as part of a wrongful death settlement.

Eric Bland, who represents the Satterfield family, said one of her adult sons and her sister will address Murdaugh in an opportunity they've all been waiting for, according to NBC.
