The Remains Location -and the search

Another interesting thing to note: When traveling north on the 15 freeway between Escondido and Lake Elsinore there is a California Highway Patrol check point and station on the 15 freeway just north of Pala at the San Diego/Riverside county line. That might have a lot to do with why he chose Pala! Doubt he wanted to chance driving through that with Amber in his car!!!

Yeah, though it's not open all of the time and there are patterns to it, definitely another reason not to have gone further, at least not if he really was on the 15.

That's a pretty heavily patrolled stretch of freeway because there's not along the exits there and so people tend to be very heavy footed. Overall it'd be a risky way to take her (main freeway) which also makes me wonder if he went that back way and avoided 15 altogether.

He actually also could have continued north on Broadway from Amber's school, and then that runs up to a road that he could have easily taken up to Lilac, still getting up to Pala without going on the freeway, BUT going straight from Amber's school and avoiding the twisting back roads.

Wonder if he was really brazen enough to go on the freeway? Or on a more heavily travelled surface street? Or if he'd stick to the more rural roads where it's rare to pass a cop?

Another hint from what the sheriff told KUSI ::after:: the presser that insinuated we'd be hearing why this just all happened and her remains were found now.

And that he couldn't publicly say why then, but that they'd (media questioning if this was tied to JAG) would be hearing more very soon.

Even though the checkpoint isn't always open (for search) it's always manned isn't it?

There are always cops off to the side, yes, but it's for a very limited number of hours a day that the regular vehicles (non-trucks) pass through where there are people who have an eye shot of your vehicle or the interior.

And when they are not actually in the road as cars pass through, that does not mean there are always even border patrol or CHP actually ::in:: their vehicles like "on the ready" if they wanted to go right after someone. Sometimes, yes, but definitely not always.

But, like I said, the stretch from Escondido to Temecula, especially right around the inspection point is heavily patrolled because of speeding, so there are often CHP around.

That's why I don't think he'd have taken 15. Way too many hit or miss areas with cops.

You never know. I think he would choose a route that he was comfortable with (which isn't saying he wasn't comfortable with the route you mentioned.)

We travel that route frequently on the 15 freeway though never in the morning (in the evening you can travel that route without seeing many cars.) I wonder how busy it is around 7:30'ish in the morning? I imagine like anywhere else in the area there would be a lot of traffic?

I wonder if Gardner's mother and stepfather were at home the day Amber went missing?

how in the h.... did they find her!!!! I can't wait to hear this one. I'm shocked beyond belief!!!!!!

When it is not open (which is often the case in my experience) you can drive through it without really noticing it is there actually (and without seeing anyone.)

He may have been worried there might have been an Amber Alert and didn't want to chance it (?)

Chelsea was in shallow grave by water
was
Amber just dumped or was she buried alittle also?

Could JAG of had help with Amber?

It was stated it would take a very strong person to hike her there.
Also the tipster said he was afraid of JAG and just told LE where to find
Amber!!!

The northerly most yellow house is JAG's family's home in Lake Elsinore, the middle one, right above the jumble of icons is his Escondido house, and the southerly most yellow house is his mom's home in Westwood.

The RED exclamation mark in a triangle is the area where Amber's remains were found.

A close in view of where Amber was found in relation to everything with Chelsea this past week.

Just putting this out there (Looking at the red triangle) Do you think JAG could have been a gambler? There are several casinos hidden along that corridor and Pala is one of them, as is Pauma. If he frequents them that could be why ne knows the area so well.

This is where Pala casino is:

JG was a troll on wheels that thought he also wore an impervious vest. Glad he was stripped of that before more girls were killed.

What Is Valley View near? houses? girls graves?

It's NE out of Escondido - Escondido High School is a couple of streets off of Valley pkwy , but you pretty much go through Escondido (North) and to the east - you get to Valley Center - keep going and you get to Pala. All on the same main road.

(It's ag land. Lots of avocado and orange groves there)

looking at traveling bugs maps I can blatantly see this sickos hunting grounds. It is such a good and wonderful thing that he has been stopped.

Someone is talking, for all of a sudden for them to find the body in Pala of all places. Very remote.

And as for traveling the 15 north that time of day, it's not traffic heavy but....there IS the border patrol there, most of the time not open and not a problem but if he wanted to not take the chance and just get rid of her quickly, staying off the 15 would be the best option and that would put him in Pala.

Was there new housing being built in this area? I was wondering if JAG might have worked on a project in the area.

In fact, it would be very interesting to know on which developments he worked...

my opinion but this guy knew his way around parks that were remote as well as areas that had lots of young girls (schools, etc).

From travelingbug's map I can see his nasty 'shoe print' of crime. He left evidence behind at all of them. his cockiness got the better of him.

Just for the record, I don't know if they still do it, but once when I was going through that checkpoint, the Border Patrol waved me aside, chatted with me, and asked if they could look in my trunk. I assume it was a random check, since, as a Caucasian female with older family members in the car, I'm sure I didn't fit any profile. But that scrutiny is obviously not anything a criminal wants to face.

TB,

It makes sense that JAG picked up Amber near Escondido High and took the back road up to Pala area. The other way always has a lot of traffic. I usually take the back way when I go up there. We were going to buy land up there right on the edge of Pala Reservation, so I made many, many trips there. I will be curious to see what remote area she was placed. There are plenty of them up there....

On Sunday, the scene of discovery of Amber Dubois' skeletal remains were taped off on the west side of rural Pala Temecula Road about 3.5 miles from the intersection with Pala Mission Road near the Pala Casino.
