GUILTY TX - Officer Don Allen, 27, killed in Craigslist robbery, Abilene, 31 Aug 2015

^^^ Is his FB page still active? I'll have to look later :)

Burglary gone wrong seems like a good possibility, since they were found with items (plural? not sure) of Allen's.
I'm interested to hear what of theirs they left at the scene that allowed LE to hone in on them so quickly. Yay!

Vinelink is showing that both Walters are In Custody in Taylor County.

Checking around, I've found that a number of Callahan County detainees are being housed in the Shackelford County Jail. This suggests to me that Callahan County does not house folks in a jail of their own -- not uncommon for small counties. I doubt either of these two will be transferred to Shackelford, though, as it is a relatively small facility. I'm thinking they will remain in Abilene (Taylor County).

Just checked -- both accounts still there.

Still hoping we will see information this afternoon from the arrest affidavits and the preliminary autopsy.

It was reported yesterday afternoon that the Texas Rangers requested the autopsy result not be made public. That could change since the reporting was done in the hours leading up to the arrests.

Marking my spot in this sad case.:(
Glad to hear about the arrests... a lot of rage in this, and imo seemed excessive for Ofcr. Allen to have simply interrupted a burglary. Unless the perps 'had it in' for all law enforcement , and D. Allen was a scapegoat ?

:moo:

Rest in peace, Ofcr. Allen. Thank you for your service to your community; and my condolences to your loved ones.

I must say I am glad to see that the report of the "anti-police" rhetoric on the walls was false, but I am having trouble understanding why another agency released the inaccurate details. I suppose smaller agencies don't have the oversight that larger agencies do when it comes to releasing unconfirmed information. I still do not understand why they haven't given a simple explanation of what happened. Did Allen interrupt a burglary at his home or was he directly targeted for assassination. The reports say the suspects have been charged with 1st degree murder, which doesn't make much sense, if they killed him while committing a burglary or robbery it would be Capital Murder, if was retaliation for his actions as Law enforcement- Capital Murder. Apparently they took things from Allen's house so they committed burglary or robbery and then killed Allen, in that case the charge should be Capital Murder. I guess there is a LOT more to the story.

Perhaps there were things written a la Manson, trying to cover their tracks. But there is no need for the general public to know. If they have the right perps, no sense in starting up some crazy copycat murderers.

Abilene Police Department -- today is about Officer Allen's funeral, but they are asking for the public's help in recovering some APD issued items stolen from Officer Allen's house.

The Walters were selling the items online. Asking anyone who had contact with the Walters on or after 8-31 about these items to contact a tip line.

Missing APD issued items:

Shotgun, belt, flashlight and radio.

Items recovered from the Walters' residence and vehicle:

Taser, baton, handcuffs, old APD badge.

I foresee capital murder charges in the Walters' future.

Correction.

Missing gun is not a shotgun.

Glock .40 caliber handgun has not been recovered.

In the mughots (and in the video where we see Dad and Mom each separately being led into the jail ----you know, 'the perp' walk'), the Mrs. looks to me like she was utterly clueless that she would ever get caught either for selling real police uniforms & real police equipment (did she hold a yard sale? cr@igslist?) or murdering that poor innocent peace officer. So monstrous - the Mr. and the Mrs. surely had the whole thing planned out. And WOW: The point of it was be able to rake in some extra cash?

Brilliant criminals strike again...thank you for posting your selling of a murdered cop's agency-issued items right after the horrific murder! APD and his family thank you for your amazing stupidity! (Filled with much sarcasm, but dumb criminals are our favorite!)

At what point does a couple, with children no less, decide this would be a good thing to do?

Wonder what his 11/3/14 FV charge was about...has anyone picked up any disposition on that?

Possible intersection between Officer Don Allen and Phillip Walter.

By his Facebook page, Walter says he attended Cisco College. Criminal justice major.

Remark by Chief Standridge at Officer Allen's funeral service. Don Allen attended Cisco College. Presumably from the remarks, he was a criminal justice major.

I read elsewhere that Standridge said Allen attended Cisco College and am looking for that article.

Cisco College has campuses in Cisco and in Abilene.

Officer Don Allen was a couple of years younger than Phillip Walter. It is possible they attended Cisco College at the same time and could have known/recognized each other from there.

I usually try to avoid theorizing, but I'm wondering if Don Allen had been looking at the Walters with regard to open burglary/stolen goods cases.

New information coming out.

Court documents have named the possible cause of death for a murdered Abilene Police Officer.

Officer Don Allen, 27, was killed "by what appeared to be strangulation" inside his home on Yucca Drive in Clyde on August 31st, according to an Affidavit for a Search Warrant filed on September 2nd.

The article also says video surveillance evidence shows the Walters pawning some items belonging to Officer Allen.

Off-duty Abilene Police Officer Don Allen, who was found dead in his home on Aug. 31, was "bound hand and foot" when his body was discovered, according to court documents released Thursday.

Two affidavits for search warrants were filed Wednesday in 42nd District Court by Texas Ranger Danny Crawford. The warrants were granted by Judge John Weeks.

Evidence connected to the murder of Officer Don Allen was recovered in Callahan County Wednesday afternoon.

A police-issue radio was discovered on FM-18 about half a mile west of FM 1707, according to TxDOT officials who say a worker that was contracted to pick-up litter for TxDOT made the discovery.

^^^ Thank you for the links ^^^^

Bound...well, that's somewhat similar to what we heard a few days later, that he was bound, gagged and tortured. Maybe when all details come out, we'll know some of the details may back that up, sad to say.

Stangulation...oh, I am so sorry to hear that. Not one of the easier ways to die, ugh. It takes minutes, usually. My brain doesn't want to "go there" to think of a good police officer, feeling helpless and losing a physical battle in his own home (bedroom?), to be bound by hands and feet, and then strangled. Alone.

More information today.

Horrible and senseless.

Definitely capital murder charges headed their way.

According to court documents released today by a Callahan County Justice of the Peace, the fiancé of Officer Allen came home from work to find him face down on the floor of the master bedroom. His hands and ankles tied. She found him around 7:00pm on August 31, 2015.

At 6:14pm, both suspects were caught on video pawning a Playstation and four games at Wild Bill's Pawn on South Danville Drive. A woman's bracelet was also pawned.

Also from today.

Authorities identified Phillip Walter’s fingerprint on a water bottle seized as evidence from 27-year-old Allen’s residence, according to the arrest warrant affidavits.

http://www.reporternews.com/news/lo...he-scene-of-the-killing-of-don-allen_27826005

Guy was supposedly a Criminal Justice major, but leaves his fingerprint at the scene.

And goes immediately to a local pawnshop that is clear about working with law enforcement with regard to stolen goods.

And proceeds to sell other items on local FB buy/sell groups.

Almost has me speechless. Not quite, though.

I hope they are able to nail whoever bought Officer Allen's service weapons from them. No doubt the investigators are all up in their known associates.
