Huguely Takes Appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court

George Huguely will take his case to the United States Supreme Court. After appeal denials in Virginia, Huguely's defense team hopes the justices in Washington will overturn his conviction for killing his former girlfriend, University of Virginia student Yeardley Love, in 2010.

This is Huguely's final chance to get his second-degree murder conviction overturned. He is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence.

Wow -- thanks for catching that, @JerseyGirl -- On with the show, I say.

I don't think he went to see her to kill her (thus 2nd degree), but he apparently slugged with malice and anger at the time he hit her. He may indeed have felt entitled, Mr. Numver V, and maybe something she said set him off. We'll never know, and it doesn't matter.
Hoping her family can get some damages from this horror, but it will not bring her back. SMH.

I forgot about this case.

I was on pins and needles everyday till they convicted him.

"Eleven jurors were chosen to hear the case, including seven regular jurors and four alternates. The trial in Charlottesville Circuit Court is expected to last about eight days. Opening statements are expected Tuesday."

"Huguely’s attorney, Matthew Green, said the defense will acknowledge that Huguely’s assault and battery caused Love’s death and that her family is entitled to compensatory damages in an amount to be decided by the jury. But he said the defense does not believe punitive damages are appropriate."

Glad the suit is underway... Keeping my fingers crossed for Yeardley's sake and for her family who will miss her every day, every day.
