Desperate search for pregnant woman, 33, who vanished a week ago | Daily Mail Online

"Her mother said Cantrell would not have just taken off without telling anyone, especially without her two beloved chihuahuas.

'What I hope, worst-case scenario, is that maybe she was carjacked and she’s just hurt somewhere.' Smith said.

But the mother expressed concern that the father of her daughter's unborn baby might be involved.

'I wouldn’t have suspected him if he wasn’t the father,' said Smith. 'But he has a girlfriend so I don’t know what that might, you know, what that might have triggered.'"

Investigators suspect foul play in search for missing Parkland woman

"We are treating this as a homicide investigation until something tells us differently," Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Ed Troyer said. "She is still missing under highly suspicious circumstances."

He said other searches were also being carried out in other parts of the county but he declined to identify where those searches were occurring. Troyer said the person of interest is someone "that they want to eliminate and clear or name him as a suspect" but he did not elaborate on that information.

Cantrell, 33, drove away from her family's home in Parkland Tuesday morning. She was driving a white 2014 Mazda 3 sedan with the license plate AXV1638. Her car was found abandoned on East 25th Street in Tacoma - near the Tacoma Dome - a few days later.

Pierce County Sheriff's Office Detective Ed Troyer said investigators are treating her disappearance as a homicide unless they uncover evidence that proves otherwise. He said they're also working to confirm that Cantrell is pregnant. Troyer said Cantrell told her family she was pregnant but they're looking for documentation from a doctor.

"I mean that's all she ever wanted--to be a mom." Friend (Alexandra) saying the two were planning a baby shower together for Halloween.

Boyfriend's truck was taken in.

"Detectives do not consider this a missing persons case any longer."

Friend and family are "hopeful" anyway.

"Alexandra says the ex-boyfriend IS the father of the baby. She also said police told friends and family not to share their opinions about the ex-boyfriend or how he is feeling about this pregnancy with the media." (Direct transcription of wording)

FBI searches home and vehicle of suspect in case of missing pregnant woman
TACOMA, Wash. - The search continues for Kassanndra Cantrell, a missing and pregnant Pierce County woman family members haven’t seen or heard from in a week. Investigators said on Tuesday they're now treating the case as a homicide.

"If she is still alive we want to find her," said Pierce County Sheriff's Office Det. Ed Troyer. "Unfortunately, we haven’t found her and that’s why we’re working this as a homicide until something tells us differently, and I hope that day comes but as you can see by the amount of work going on here, the probability of that coming to light isn’t strong."

“Well, obviously, we have people that are under the umbrella of interest and he is one of them, but we do not have him arrested or detained,” Troyer said. “He’s somebody that we need to track the evidence until it tells us that he’s involved, or the evidence tells us he’s not at fault. But at this point, it wouldn’t be prudent for us not to continue looking at him as a possibility in this case.”

Troyer says it is not clear whether the ex-boyfriend could be the father of Cantrell’s unborn baby, or who the father might be.

“We are working this case as if something nefarious happened, we’re working this as a homicide until something tells us different because this is not normal for her,” Troyer said. “She lives with her parents, she stays in touch with friends, so it was immediately suspicious when she went missing and didn’t make it to a doctor’s appointment.”

“When we found her car abandoned down by the railroad tracks and by the Sounder train, and with keys inside, then we knew we were on the right path, and so we’re continuing to work this until the evidence tells us something different, as a possible homicide,” he added."

Volunteers look for clues in case of missing pregnant Tacoma woman

Sept 4, 2020

TACOMA, Wash. - A group of volunteers say they feel they’ve made progress in the search for Kassanndra, after finding someone they say is a potential witness, someone who can help build the timeline for her last known whereabouts. It’s another potential piece to the puzzle that could help bring her home.

[..]

“All we know for sure is that she left the house at 8:44 in the morning and that’s it. The rest is theories and guesses,” says Robert Cantrell, Kassanndra’s twin brother.

The search party, compiled of family and volunteers focused on an area of Tacoma today, not far from where Kassanndra’s white Mazda was found last Friday, with the keys inside. And the same neighborhood where earlier this week a search warrant was served. Kassanndra’s family says it’s the home of a man she dated when she was a teenager, and was more recently just a friend

[..]

Investigators and volunteers have yet to find Kassanndra’s cell phone, which has been off since she disappeared last week. But there’s something else her mother believes she may have left the house with last Tuesday. “The very first test that she took when she went to the clinic, its missing…I can't think of why she needed it unless somebody asked her for it,” says Marie Smith.

[..]

They also have searches planned for the three day weekend. If you have any information on Kassanndra’s whereabouts contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department or call 911.
