Why didn't Casey flee? **REVISIT OLD THREAD**

I don't think she intended on going to Cali whatsoever. I think she was trying to get that guy to send her money for a plane ticket. As a predator, she was always looking for ways to get money.

Just like when she was talking to that cop- yanking his chain saying the babysitter is in traffic, picking up her dog, etc. She was trying to manipulate him into saying "come over and bring Caylee," but he was not budging!

She didn't flee because she didn't see herself in danger of being arrested. Remember, when she was in jail and said she got arrested on a "#$%^ whim!" She was def surprised to be arrested.

I still think she was trying to get the marine to give her some money to come there so she could get as far from mom as possible.
I do agree with though, she sure did yank one cops chains big time....like a pro she was. He didnt give in though and let her bring the baby. I dont think that young man wanted to play with tinker toys. He justed wanted to tink the toy. He made a good call on not letting be around this stuff. But I still think the gal was going to flee.

Because she wasn't in trouble yet. If she had known Cindy was coming over, she would have split pronto. She was looking at the escort sites in California and talking to that guy there, so I bet that's where she'd go. Plus she just seems like the kind of girl who would want to run to California...lol.

imo Casey has a very high opinion of herself. She had gotten away with lying and stealing for years, so why would a baby vanishing be anything different? I remember her mother saying how Casey did lie, but eventually they were able to get the truth out of her. I'm calling bs on that. I don't think there was ever a time she finally came clean about one of her lies, I think she just substituted 1 lie for another to make them feel she did finally tell the truth.
She was busy trying to set up something with the marine and it may be that she was waiting for the chance to rip someone else off to make her getaway. I doubt Amy was the only one recently, she could have had plans for Tony's checking acct or his room mates also.
It exhausts me to think of how she had to spend all this time and energy just keeping up with her lies, why the heck couldn't she have just used that and found a job? I guess then she wouldn't get the feeling she was getting away with everything.

I have often wondered myself why she didn't just take off and leave when she had the chance.
I think it's because this story sounded a lot better in her head than it did when it came out of her mouth.
Or because she is so far gone mentally that she actually convinced herself that she has no reason to run as what she was going to tell them was the truth.
Or she was just plain scared and thought that she could make it all go away, just like it always goes away with Mommy and Daddy when she gets in trouble.

Ditto. No one to take care of her; no place to stay; no friends; no connections for marijuana or other drugs. She wouldn't be "popular" anywhere but Orlando.

Hi frip. yes she did ask, but she didn't really push very hard as far as I know. I mean it was kind of a half hearted attempt for someone trying to escape Murder 1.
Seems she would have been begging her to not go to the cops.

You may be right but my take has always been that she didn't really believe Cindy would go through with it and/or she'd get out of it. I have no factual basis for my speculation that Cindy made lots of threats but didn't follow through, nor my speculation that her parents had enabled her throughout her life, including actually preventing her from facing consequences. Remember the 'deer in the headlight' look Casey got when Lee 'hit her with reality' about she would have to produce Caylee for LE? Up until that moment she thought she was 'the mom' and no one could force her to produce Caylee. Maybe had even had that come up in conversation with one of the officers with whom she was having sex --- that the grandparents couldn't force her to produce Casey.

But mostly: Don't underestimate Casey's narcissism.

I had a similar question almost two months ago but at that time news was breaking daily so it wasn't as important.
But now, thinking on this for a couple months I still don't understand.....

There were several times from the time Cindy showed up at AL's place that Casey could have bolted.

In the car, leaving AL's place I'm sure there were traffic signals, stop signs etc where Casey could have just jumped out of the car and refused to get back in. Casey is of age....not much Cindy could have done to make Casey get back in the car.

Again after dropping off AH. Mother and daughter were driving and I'm sure there were instances where the car was stopped at a light that Casey could have gotten out of the car.

Again, after they arrived home and even with Lee there, I'm sure Casey could have just said "I don't have to deal with this", grabbed her backpack and walked out the front door.

So many instances where Casey didn't HAVE to be there. There would have been nothing against the law about her walking out of her own house because she didn't want to hear her mother and brother "nag" her.

For all the strange things that have happened in this case, I have eleventy-two theories for each one.
But this one? Having so many opportunities to bolt, why didn't she? I just can't make sense or come up with any plausible theories for this one.

After looking at KC's images/icons/slogans from her PhotoBucket account (from this thread http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72608) I am beginning to wonder if she isn't 100% bravado. Maybe the reason she didn't flee for the same reason she curiously allowed CA to take her to the police on 7/15 without putting up a fight: She's a coward at heart. All along I have been having a hard time believing KC has low self-esteem (what does that really mean? I say that rhetorically.) But perhaps she really does not like herself very much and all her tough talk is trying to convince herself that she is something that she is not. If that makes any sense.

I think KC didn't flee because she felt she was smarter than everyone around her. Lets face it, KC has been manipulating people around her for years. I think KC actually started to believe some of her own lies.

100% correct - she would have needed another enabler and
there wasnt one lined up yet - the marine was being groomed but
apparently he wasnt taking the bait and TonE was not a sure thing
either - the attachment was largely in Casey's mind . She wanted
him but he seemed to be lukewarm at best .
Casey needed mommy and because she was dependent upon her
she hated her for her own dependence.....

Casey will adapt and do just fine in jail - she wont have to worry about any of the responsibilities of real life and can occupy her time with adoring pen pals and a fanasty life of winning appeals and over turned verdicts.

She was like the Teflon Don- doing so many things for so long and always getting away with it. This was not her first time at the rodeo.

I think about how she stole $250 from Jesse and how he was still friends with her and she didn't have to pay him back. It seems as though no one made her suffer the consequences of her actions.

Nothing in her history suggests she would flee. I don't think she even ran away as a teenager. Just like with the pregnancy- she created her own reality and stood firmly. Calling herself a virgin at 7 months pregnant shows how determined she is to live in her own little world.

To me Casey didn't flee because she had absolutely no sense of ambitition.
She was without a job but continued to behave as if she was going to "work" everyday. She also left high school but never made any attempt to earn a GED. Leave? Why? I believe she never had the ability to think and plan ahead. Aside from beleiving she would never be caught, fleeing was not something this gal could imagine doing.

I do not think KC fled was because her she believed her PLAN was so intact and the blame was going to be on others................ the kidnapping etc. but apparently her plan was not as well thought out as she thought. She was going to always be the Mother of the Year who's child disappeared and never would have been caught and she would always be the sympathetic victim. But as always, she was never able to follow through on whatever she dreamed up in her mind. Her plan fell apart due to poor planning.......... who would have thought this child was DEAD.... she should have always been missing.... she watched all the crime TV shows and in her mind she thought she could outsmart everyone................. She had no respect for her family, she never appreciated anything that was done for her, MANIPULATION was her main goal, and she learned from the best................ she believed she was smarter than her mother............ she was never going to get caught she has been MANIPULATING everyone and everything for years which she believed she was invinciable............. and this SNOTHEAD........ did not fit into her plans........... I am not saying she did not love this little SNOTHEAD... but she was a kink in her GRANDIOUS plans for her future.....

I do not believe KC will ever show any remorse for her actions... and a part of her enjoys the pain she is causing CA.................. but KC is mad as hell she got caught... and once again this little SNOTHEAD has crimped her GRANDIOUS plans for the future.................. but don't worry KC as you are sitting in jail/prison for the rest of your life............ you have a least accomplished one of your goals..........you have destroyed your family.... and I am on the fence regarding sympathy for your family, not you, Caylee is no longer a SNOTHEAD and is in the arms of a loving God........... and she will be found and a proper burial will be done for all who love her.

I think she didn't flee because of TonE. He was her new obsession. She probably considered herself 'in love' with him and couldn't live without him. JMO of course, but I really think he is the reason she didn't flee.

I think she didn't flee because she rid herself of her daughter for the very sake of her lifestyle in Florida. She was into a social life that she felt was hindered by motherhood. If she up and left, she'd be leaving the very thing she killed for--just my opinion.

I have to agree...CA and KC's seem to be in a strong love-hate relationship that is covered deeply with lots of power/control issues between the two of them. CA seems to have been losing her control over KC the past few months as KC struggled to step out into her own control/power pulling away from and out of CA's power...I think the big fight the night of the 15th was hugely important as it was a turning point for KC...she took her power and stepped into full control that night stripping CA of any control/power...
KC thought she "won" as she managed to elude CA and family for 31 days. So during this time frame thinking she had "won" (escaped & took power) she saw no need to make further plans.
KC has never been held responsible for any of her misbehaves (lies, stealing, whatever) so she had no concerns that anyone would try to hold her to task at this late date.
The 911 calls were simply CA's unthought out plan to "control" (ie threaten) KC into telling where Caylee was. No One (especially CA) ever entertained what would happen after the 911 calls were made. You can't take them (911 calls) nor police involment back once you call them into your plan...thus began the snowball effect that CA/family/KC never anticipated
all of course JMHO...

She's not very organized. She didn't get all the credits she needs to graduate high school. She apparently didn't use protection and got pregnant when she may not have wanted a child. She may not have clued her parents in until the last minute. She told a guy he was the daddy when he wasn't, a fact which could easily be proven. She might have kept her job but she just stopped showing up. She stole bigtime from her family and got caught. Mommy and Daddy were mad so she took off, without any place to go or any means to get there AND a kid. Her lies are very easily disproved. She just flies by the seat of her pants, makes it up as she goes along. Whatever happened, she didn't really seem to have come up with a cover story, even after 31 days. She was doing what she always did, goin' with the flow. She was thinkin' maybe it could work out with Tony. Then she'd come up with something. She'd be a bust an an event planner 'cuz Girl can't plan.
