The red convertible in the driveway looks like an Audi A5 to me.
And this could be the Bentley in the photo of AIW about midway down the page. If so, it's not red.

If the Mosler is red, that is certainly a car that would draw attention! Okay, even if it's not red, you don't see one of those on the road everyday.

Good catch re: the Bentley. If that is his car a strong argument could be made that SS may have had direct contact with his employees. I think he may have recognized the perp and that may be why they were ultimately killed, unfortunately. As a CEO of a company, even if I didn't know who he was when he worked for me if he was arrested outside of the building with a knife I would be sure I remembered what he looked like for safety's sake.

Isn't it possible he had cash in his safety deposit box? It wouldn't require a bank employee to be involved at all to get that.

It is very much possible that he only had $40K in his safe deposit box.

You'd think that. But only one person was seen driving the car, and only one person seen on camera running away.

This case is so convoluted. What's the car that was seen being driven the same car that was set on fire? Thanks

Is it possible that SS had a regular weekly withdrawl scheduled with the bank?
This is the only explanation that would make sense to me. Also, if it was a regular transaction, others would be privy to that info. JMO

I have a card on file with my sdb....listing the people allowed to access it. You must show id and at that time... be escorted to the sdb room.

How do we know that "other employee" didn't have the access?

This case has scared and haunted me more than most I have read about. There is something really sinister about how the young boy was burned but not the rest of the house.
Maybe the perp was trying to erase evidence. Why waste all that time, rather than run out after stabbing or knocking him out. I'm glad I can't think like the killer, but so many questions swirl through my mind about this horrific case:(

He wouldn't need to make "flurry" of calls for a regular withdrawal, I would think.

That's interesting that SS didn't own the home after living in the area for such a long time.

Yes, the same car was set on fire. And video shows only one man running away.

Maybe. Maybe not. What does a personal driver/assistant make in D.C.?

I've been an Executive Assistant for around 15 years and worked for some very wealthy individuals ie net worth ranging from 100m - 10b+.

In Australia the average wage for a corporate C-suite Executive Assistant is around $100k + benefits. From what I understand (having worked for an American company) the USA has similar wages for this role. Starting out you may earn $75k; if you've been with a company for a long time, have a bonus component, or have other specialist skills it could easily be double that. This may seem crazy to some, but despite popular understanding assistants these days are generally very skilled, hold degrees, and most definitely have a lot more responsibility than answering the phone inbetween painting their nails.

I'm not sure what the average wage is for drivers, however I just checked and my current boss' driver is paid $74k + benefits. He's been with him for 3 years now. Again, might seem like a lot for some but he's on call pretty much 24/7 and is privy to a lot of confidential information.

Long story short - I wouldn't risk my job and peoples lives for a share of $40k.

A couple of other notes:

A few posters have mentioned they thought it was strange SS was driven to/from work. SS may have been "down to earth" but for CEO types drivers aren't a status symbol, more of a time saving necessity. If his office was 45 min away that's 1.5 hours travel time per day (more if he went to/from offsite meetings). All my bosses have used travel time to take calls, review documents uninterrupted, etc etc. If they drove themselves they'd never see their families or get all their work done. And seriously - who enjoys driving in rush hour traffic? If I had the money I'd be chauffeured everywhere too.

Someone also mentioned they found it strange he would be driven in a 911. I don't find this odd at all. SS appeared to have a thing for nice cars so why not? It's just a matter of preference. Most of my bosses have preferred town cars, some liked limos; my last boss was very conscious of the environment and he preferred to be driven around in his Prius. LOL.

JMO and all that.

But it must be easier to do work in a sedan than a two-seater :)

Buyer: 3201 Woodland Drive Land (Trust) and Leonard A Sacks, trustee
Price: $2,987,000. Date:07/25/2001. No buyer or seller agent shown for this buy.

Various ppl said S fam lived there 10 yrs, but actually seems closer to 14 yrs, unless they did yrs-long remodel before move-in.

ETA:
Just read ^ comment(s) re S fam not owning that home. Personally questioning accuracy.
Appears imo, jmo moo Mr S and/or Ms S - or a trust he, she, or both established -
bought home.
Often ppl estab self-admin trusts, & name themselves as trustees to manage the tr assets.
Often a/c & prop w/be titled "John Doe, trustee for John Doe Trust, under doc dtd 07/25/01."

Based on this trust title, poss or likely this trust relates only that particular home and not to other land or homes or bank a/c or brokerage a/c or cars, etc.
Mr & Mrs S are likely to have one or more other trusts relating to those assets.
Likely to avoid probate; to reduce or avoid fed est taxes, perhaps DC inheritance tax if DC imposes it; etc.
JM2cts.

But it must be easier to do work in a sedan than a two-seater :)

Depends on what kind of work. Calls don't require space. Laptops, well, they sit on your lap. If you need space to spread out paper, you aren't doing that in a car regardless of it's size. Many offices are paperless these days anyway.

That's interesting that SS didn't own the home after living in the area for such a long time.

I'm pretty sure that the records are garbled. The entry says that the building contains apartments and Leonard Sack's trust is the owner. I think that the the Savopoulos home is a one-family structure, and I would be surprised if it was owned by a trust for the benefit of Leonard Sacks.

I don't get the feeling that Driver was an Executive Assistant. From what it appears he was mainly the driver and an assistant who ran the odd errand here and there. I don't get the impression that he was setting and coordinating SS's schedule and sitting in on board or executive meetings, etc.

I am sure they could make an exception for a really good client. Which is probably what happened here.

A branch manager is not exactly high up on the BOA food chain. They would need time to get approvals from higher ups, most likely an executive if not a senior executive to go against policy. At BOA certain things can be done at the manager level, but certain things need approval not just of an actual executive, but a senior executive. BOA internally can be very bureaucratic if you're going against policy.
