Another reminder about Facebook and social media in general.

If it is from social media it is considered rumour and should stay on social media. A good rule of thumb is, if it cannot be linked or is considered rumour it does not belong here. Do not post something that someone has posted on Facebook without a substantiated link. People can and do say anything on Facebook without any credence whatsoever.

To date the only allowed Facebook pages in this discussion are those of the police and approved media outlets.

bearbear I think you could be onto something here. OMG that's a chilling read.
Para field Gardens to Murray Bridge is only 1 hour 22 minutes. The police have to look at a fairly wide vicinity.

I just read some articles about it, and that is really beyond belief. I can't really find more info about where these people came from and how long they had been staying in the horror house before they were discovered.

Does anyone have any info on that? What did they do for a living? Or had been doing for a living before they ended up there. Could they have ties to Wynarka?
And was one of these people out of jail around march, april to hypothetically put the suitcase there?
 
guys i follow a journo by the name of Stacey Lee with 7newsadelaide her tweets are are great and very up to date. This morning she tweeted that Superintendant Des Bray is speaking with Sunrise (breakfast programme) this morning about the latest information over the Wynarka murder.

I made a guess somewhere in the late 170s of comments on this post that put the person who dumped the suitcase out somewhere past Wynarka and dropping past Wynarka to find a dump spot on his morning commutes... assuming he is commuting past the point daily to Murray Bridge or Tailem Bend for work and the cairn of stones is so he can see the dump site as he goes back and forth. Presumably the police also have soil type or pollen evidence. And they may have had similar thoughts and come to a similar conclusion.

Something that surely is very unusual about this quilt is the yellow thread. It's not regular quilting thread, which would not have survived quite so well. It would have deteriotated and discoloured along with the quilt fabrics.

It looks like a specialty synthetic thread of some kind, perhaps the kind of thread that is used when making life jackets, safety vests or backpacks. That stuff is only available on humongous, industrial spools, which no ordinary seamstress would buy. And, even though police said it was sewn on a sewing machine, there is something about the stitches that looks a tad unusual ... not quite like a regular sewing machine.

That's just my opinion. I'd be interested in what other quilters think about the bright yellow thread. I think it's possible that this child's grandma may have worked in the safety gear manufacturing industry ... maybe.
 
Considering the odd yellow thread, the machine quilting, the pumpkins which may have been part of a tablecloth - I'm thinking perhaps a novice quilter (and possibly one with limited resources and/or access to materials). More likely family than someone in a group making quilts to donate.
