This really is me. I do dislike noisy, crowded affairs, and enjoy being alone most of the time.
You got: Introvert

You’re not shy — you just enjoy spending time on your own. You hate noisy and crowded places, and often you’d rather just stay at home.

There is a difference between traumatic brain injury resulting in a coma and what CJ's son has...
Praying for the best possible outcome. Thoughts and prayers are sent.

That result rings more true for me than the result I got. I'm a total introvert, not a leader or ambitious whatsoever.

I have a joke with the guy I work with: I ask him if he knows what my middle name is. He always responds by saying that it's the same as his:

LAZY!

You are so welcome, Niner. I am very glad I was able to help (I do hope this works for you) An 800 mile trip would not be to my liking, either.

Isn't it amazing how attached we become with people we may never meet... I adore my online friends.

Thrilled about Huz's progress!! Congratulations to both of you. Sure hope you continue to bring good news to share. :loveyou: Have a restful night, dear friend.

BBM

What kind words. And you are certainly not alone in that thought; I think our bonds with one another are special and remarkably strong. Sending love your way, and to all who come here seeking nothing more than an open heart and a place to share. :)

coffeeJ, I wish you could be celebrating Ryan's birthday with at least some good news about his prognosis today. My hugs still come for you daily.

Hatfield, I think your description of a dog on-point describes my little rat terrier, too. When she is focused on a critter in the yard, nothing will deter her and she stands very still waiting her opportunity to pounce.

Monalou will sit for hours under a tree or at the back fence where various critters and varmints also sit for hours. I've had to walk three hundred feet in the rain and mud to put her lease on and drag her back in the house.

I'm starting to have a very emotional week for some reason. I guess it could be because my valentine turned twenty one, and sliced his little finger down to the bone when he pulled his sword out to spar with his best friend that's come for a week visit, then I came home yesterday to a bonfire in the backyard so they could roast eight freaking hotdogs and burned up one of my sauce pans cooking chili over the fire, and had axes strapped to their backs. Later as I walked past his bedroom door I heard him ask his friend how long it would take for them to build a transport helicopter. I told them this afternoon as I was leaving that they couldn't order any uranium on the internet for the catapult they're building today.

You’re a great advisor, and people often come to you when they need advice. You’re wise, smart, helpful, and resourceful.

Mediator here too.

Okay, that scares me...

I feel like you gain a few steps and lose more in this process of life...sigh. He scored a 7+ on the GCS. Saying he SHOULD come out of the coma, they can't give us the 'when'. He brain test shows an improvement from when he first came in the ER. They're saying that his condition is stable for now and they may recommend moving him to another care facility across from the hospital. What I got from yesterday was that 'he is in there, somewhere, but no guarantees'. Talk with him, no negatives vibes around him, read a book out loud, music, touch him, etc.

Thank YOU everyone for all your kindness and good thoughts, prayers, advice. I'm sorry, but right now I need time for processing all this...I'm tired. MY brain has shut down! Think I'm in overload drive.

OH coffeeJ. it's the "not-knowing" that drives you crazy. The stress level must be through the roof. Wrapping you in warm strong vibes to bring you the strength you need to get through this. :grouphug:

Pages ...... that bunch sounds like a scary reality show in the making. :scared:

Thanks for checking in CoffeeJ. One day at a time is all you can do and to try to take care of yourself with rest too. The docs did offer some positives it sounds like. Hang in there and take care.

It sounds like they are in the phase of being a little too overly creative. Hopefully they can stay safe with whatever the next "project" is.

I kind of went through that phase with a friend around that same age. We had a few silly projects that went a little overboard. Like the time we built our own outdoor wood burning Kiln to make clay pots ourselves in the backyard to try to replicate how they did it back in the Ming Dynasty. LOL

We knew we needed a hot fire in the backyard but we had no concept of how kilns needed a constant temperature and a cool down period. Everything went well until each clay pot exploded in the fire one by one...LOL. So we bought more clay and tried again in Round 2...LOL Same result is all clay pots exploded. So then we decided to heat them slowly and we made sure we pounded the air bubbles out of the clay before making the pots. Round 3 only half of them exploded and we successfully fired a small batch of clay pots. I still have 1 that I saved from that time. It really worked but without glaze they sure didnt look pretty. LOL

We had many other crazy projects like that around that age. I am sure you already told them to stay safe and try not to do anything too stupid.

That was a great story about your young adventurous days, Hatfield! How nice that you actually had some pots survive. (Wish I had been in your crowd)

In new book, Jodi Arias' prosecutor details strategy used to put her behind bars for life

"PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Prosecutor Juan Martinez looks into the cell block in Perryville Prison where Jodi Arias lives; a place she will never leave until the end of her life.
"We can look over the fence and perhaps wonder what she's thinking or what she's doing, but one thing I always keep in mind is she is there because of something she did, not because of something that I did," he said.

Many observers think Martinez and his aggressive prosecution style have a lot to do with Arias' fate.

In his new book released on Tuesday, Martinez details how he went after Arias for the murder of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander and reveals his personal thoughts about the killer.

Martinez writes, "Arias always struck me as the 'bad waitress' type. She would probably be looking down at customers, smiling at them with a fake happy look and giving them bad service."...

I reached out to Jodi Arias for a comment on this story, but she declined my request. Those who are in contact with her have told me she is not happy that Martinez, and her own attorney Kirk Nurmi, have both written books on her case while it is still in the appeals process.

Former Arias attorney Jennifer Wilmott gave me this statement on Juan Martinez:

"I am concerned that prosecutors are allowed to personally profit from their own cases. It makes you question the fairness and motives a prosecutor has when his own personal financial profit is at stake. Maricopa County has specific rules to prevent this from happening."

Martinez says he go the OK from his boss, county attorney Bill Montgomery, to write his book.

"I have followed all of the rules before I entered into the contract to write this book," he said..."

Woman Says She Fought Attacker, Tried to Protect Unborn Baby

"A woman whose baby was cut from her womb by someone she just met testified Wednesday that she told herself she had to survive for the sake of her unborn daughter and tried to fight back.

But Michelle Wilkins said Dynel Lane continued to choke and beat her in the March 18, 2015, attack, and she eventually lost consciousness. When she came to, she said, she was bleeding profusely from her abdomen and made a desperate call to 911.

Wilkins' child didn't survive — something Wilkins learned the next day in the hospital. Lane was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

The case revived debate over the legal rights of fetuses and brought calls for a murder charge, which prosecutors said they couldn't file because a coroner found no evidence the fetus lived outside the womb. Testimony in the trial began Wednesday and is expected to continue into next week...."

Mom Facing Murder Charge a Decade After Son Was Last Seen

"A Virginia woman whose son's remains were found in her car more than 10 years after he was last seen alive is now facing a murder charge.

Court documents indicate Tonya Slaton, 44, of Richmond was indicted Feb. 1 in Hampton Circuit Court on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of her son, Quincy Jamar Davis, who would now be 25.

Davis attended elementary and middle school in Virginia Beach, but media outlets report that friends didn't see him after seventh grade and he was withdrawn from school in 2003, when he would have entered eighth grade.

Media outlets report that the indictment alleges Slaton killed Davis between July 24, 2004, and July 24, 2005, when he was 14 or 15 years old. Davis was never reported missing, but his body was found in Slaton's trunk during a traffic stop in June. The medical examiner hasn't determined the cause of his death..."

While 'Affluenza' Teen Went Free, Similar Case Led to Prison

"One 16-year-old drove drunk, ran a red light and crashed into a pregnant woman's car, killing her and her unborn child. Another drunken teenager rammed a pickup truck into a crowd of people assisting a stranded driver, killing four.

Jaime Arellano went to prison. Ethan Couch went free.

The stories of the two Texas teens illustrate how prosecutors' decisions in similar cases can lead to wildly different outcomes. The poor immigrant from Mexico has been behind bars for almost a decade. The white kid with rich parents got 10 years of probation...

In the juvenile system, intoxication manslaughter cases in Texas over the last decade were just as likely to result in probation as they are detention, according to figures from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Juvenile justice experts say the state's juvenile system places more weight on rehabilitation than the adult system, where punishments are tougher.

Since 2005, Texas has prosecuted 38 juveniles for intoxication manslaughter or intoxication assault. Only three were sent to the adult system, and half of all cases resulted in probation of some kind...

Once juveniles are in detention, it's more likely than not that they will go free when they turn 19. Only 33 percent of all juvenile offenders are sent to adult prison, according to a study of juvenile sentencing conducted by the University of North Texas professor Chad Trulson.

Trulson said a probation sentence for killing four people might seem "absurd" to the average person.

But in the juvenile system, he said, that type of sentence for intoxication manslaughter and potentially more serious offenses "is probably more typical than we would think.".."

HITLER: THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY?

"...Hitler died in his bunker on April 30, 1945, victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. But confusion surrounding an initial postmortem — not to mention plenty of alternative theories — have fueled speculation since then, leading many researchers to dig deeper into the whos, whats and wherefores of the dictator’s passing. Some of them, dismissing the official story altogether, fervently believe Hitler didn’t die that day, but instead fled to Spain and then Argentina.

When U.S. intel officers debriefed former Gestapo chief Heinrich Mueller prior to his going to work for American intelligence to aid the anti-communist push, he “disclosed that Hitler escaped to Spain after the war and that his place in the bunker — and the grave — was taken by a double, a distant blood relative of the Führer’s,” says American talk-radio host and political researcher Dave Emory..."

What Dying Looks Like in America's Prisons
In many places, inmates who want to go into hospice care have to sign a do-not-resuscitate order first.

"...Since prisons were established in the United States, there have always been prisoners dying inside, but the recent rise in the age of the prison population and the need for prison administrators to find ways to care for the elderly, sick, and dying provided them with a new opportunity for rehabilitation: care for the dying. What better way to help a prisoner face his sins than turn his face toward death?

There are 2.3 million adults in jail or prison in the United States. That’s the largest number of incarcerated people in the world. Between 1995 and 2010, the number of prisoners over 55 quadrupled. By 2030, they will account for an estimated one-third of all incarcerated people, according to a 2014 report, The High Cost of Low Risk: The Crisis of America’s Aging Prison Population, by the Osborne Association, a prison advocacy group based in New York. Behind prison walls, where every social malady is compounded, is the perfect place from which to consider the future of health-care access and end-of-life care in the United States....

Pain management in a facility where drug use is rampant—and, indeed, a major cause of incarceration—is problematic. Doctors and nurses can find it hard to believe a patient who tells them he’s in pain. “A culture of suspicion emerged concerning the illicit drug trafficking of narcotics intended for pain relief,” the Palliative Medicine report states. The “macho” prison culture also prevented many in pain from admitting what they felt. But a larger issue, one difficult to measure, exists: “Prison healthcare staff may believe that prisoners deserve their suffering.” In other words, pain is punishment..."

Mississippi Attorney General presents death penalty options

"With the recent expiration of Mississippi's lethal injection drugs, Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood released a legislative agenda that could effectively nullify the logistical and ethical issues particular to the cocktails.

In place of lethal injection drugs, which can be difficult to acquire and properly administer, Hood proposed 3 alternative execution methods for administering the death penalty in a press release on Jan. 27.

If Hood's agenda is realized, Mississippi's 48 death row inmates could each face either the electric chair, a firing squad or nitrogen hypoxia..."

Did the FBI Kill My Father?
Anthony Colombo
Author and the eldest son of Joseph Colombo

"Forty-five years ago, my father, Joe Colombo, the alleged boss of the "Colombo" crime family, and founder of the Italian-American Civil Rights League, was gunned down among a crowd of thousands in one of the most highly publicized shootings in New York City's history.

To the media and the FBI my father was head of one of New York's infamous Five Families. To the Italian-American community he was an organizer and leader. To his family he was a great husband and father. As Joe Colombo's son, who was responsible for my father's death -- and that the efforts he made for the Italian-American community have gone unrecognized -- has weighed heavily on me for years. I finally decided I would write a book to address who my father really was, and to address who should be held responsible for his death. The book is based on my personal life beside my father, my in-depth knowledge surrounding his shooting, and what I've come to learn was a suspiciously flawed investigation into his death..."
