I agree. Absolutely disgusting and degrading. But I believe he was saying that there is no fatal harm involved in the elephant walk, which is gross, but better than the other activities that happen that can cause harm and fatalities.
"Jim Piazza said the doctor told him his son would have survived if he'd been brought to the hospital sooner."

I don't see how the doctor could know that for sure. Regardless, he'd obviously had a better chance of survival if he was brought to the hospital right after he fell.
From reading the articles it sounds like that initial fall is what caused serious internal bleeding. It was mentioned Timothy had a large visible bruise when brought back up the stairs. Just from the internal bleeding standpoint I can see how he could have been saved if not left to bleed out for 12 hours. I'm not sure how the head injuries played into the dr's statement.
From what it sounds to me, his initial head injury was a concussion, then he sustained further injury after falling yet again. Then there was the injury to the spleen and other internal injuries, i.e., the creep that hit him in the gut ?! Seriously? :gaah: Then there was the acute alcohol poisoning on top of it. The poor guy was injured repeatedly over and over again, and yet no one bothered to get medical help for him?! He never had a chance with those psychopathic miscreants! The poor boy's last hours were a slow painful death filled with suffering and agony. There's absolutely NO excuse , NONE, NADA... It makes me sick to think about it. :tears:

The first injury he sustained was the the head injury from falling down the stairs head first. IIRC, the head injury was the stated cause of his death.
"Delayed treatment or failure to reduce intracranial pressure can cause temporary brain damage, permanent brain damage, long-term coma, or even death.
The sooner you seek treatment to reduce pressure on your brain, the better the outcome."

The pressure in his head continued to build up for 12 hours because no one called for help. Not sure how anyone could doubt what the doctor has said.
Quote by Mpnola: Something more than a fall caused the ruptured spleen. That's my opinion.

"In 1863, the third president of Amherst asked his fellow college presidents what they thought of this new thing called a fraternity. The overwhelming consensus was alarm. They described fraternities as a plague and un-American. They sow dissensions and produce factions, said one president. They have led to greater unkindness and ill feeling than almost anything else in college, said a second. Nothing but evil results, said another."

So inexcusable, and so heartbreaking for his poor parents. Those people "tortured" their son, it was "premeditated".
And I agree one hundred percent with the author, Ms. Wade.
