And then, as I have viewed them a number of times now, the story got worse and worse. Part of me criticized and laughed at his performance, likening it to a Saturday Night Live skit from so many years ago. But as the story gets worse, his performance GETS BETTER! When I view the video now, even a snippet of it, all I can see is how kind and nice he was to those kids. All of them. You, and you, and you,and you, and you... He got a smile out of each child. All of them, at one time or another. When he apologized to the little boy for messing up his name, my heart nearly broke at the child's response.."that's okay!"

Elvis was a gentle spirit to those thirteen miracle people. His extreme overacting got a lot of laughs from them! (From me too!)

My opinion. He can hold his head up on this one.

So did I. Plus, he's one of the only people so far who has had prior contact with this family but isn't trying to cash in on it.

I've got two photos of her w/the new baby, by the lake, and I only see one comment. There may be more photos out there but I've only seen two. Am I permitted to upload it if I mask the the baby's face? I don't want to get a time out.
 
I got out the door late this morning. I was running around all day, and when I finally got home, I realized I had't eaten for several hours. When I walked in the door, I though to myself absently, " Man! I'm starving!". And then it hit me again. (I don't weigh a lot but I'm one of those people who needs to eat when hungry. I get shaky and irritable and feel terrible if I go too long without eating).

I don't want to pick apart their physical appearance, or speculate about the things they suffered that I don't know... But I do just keep coming back to :

How the hell could anyone slowly starve thirteen people, any people, let alone your own children? Day after day, for years. Send them to bed hungry every night...I don't care what D&L's mental problems were. No matter what formal diagnosis they might acquire... They knew to eat when THEY were hungry, they knew to feed that baby... I have wondered if they fed the toddler, lest she cry all the time, and draw unwanted attention? Another thought I had was, it was a hospital birth. Pediatricians want to see those babies regularly for the first two yrs... I don't know if any immunizations, were given but if so, They give them pretty regularly for the first two yrs. And even if not, they are pretty insistent about the well care check-ups.

Could this be why they wanted that baby to be of normal weight to avoid suspicion at check-ups at first, and then they moved, out from under the direct supervision of that Pedi...Let the starvation begin? I really don't know how to understand the kind of depravity that could ENJOY living to torment others.

I find myself eating less now. Paying more attention to my food. Appreciating everything I eat more. I no longer feel like having that extra helping I really didn't need. Isn't that weird? I did not intentionally start doing that, it's just that every time I eat I think about these kids and how much they must have looked forward to, and must have really appreciated every small morsel they were allowed.

And it's not like I've never given thought of the plight of starving people, around the world, but this travesty has had a more humbling effect, I think because the parents who were supposed to sustain them, and could have so easily, deliberately didn't... makes this "starvation" so very, deeply emotionally painful. And still those kids smiled and laughed and tried to enjoy life to the extent that they were able. Amazing.

I almost wish those kids had EATEN those two off of Disney ware!. Poetic justice! ( not really, just ranting).

I don't remember if it was a side effect of pregnancy, even if it was, would you be spitting? That's just bizarre behavior but perhaps normal for her.

In case someone doesn't know, food stamps have been around since long before any of these children were even born. Also, so has WIC (women and infant children). There were ways to get food if David was unemployed.

Also, the Huntsville thing... The interesting part of that is the location.

Here is the link to a video and article about the oldest son’s classes at CC. He maintained a very high GPA and some were core classes (Algebra, Freshman Comp, Communications). He took classes in Spring 2014 - Spring 2017. I have a hard time believing he was able to do this well with a first grade education. It makes me think that the reference was to the younger children.

People get married in Vegas. Sometimes an Elvis impersonator officiates. Who cares? In this case, the Elvis impersonator was probably the first person to show the victims a good time in years. I don’t get why people think this is so funny or that the officiator is so mockable.

I just watched the recent ABC video, and I'm fascinated by the oldest son's CC transcript (http://abcnews.go.com/US/surveillan...ve-siblings-parents-arrests/story?id=52533621). Observations:

- He started with elementary algebra (typically a 9th grade course) and "Fundamentals of English," which he apparently had to take before getting to the standard freshman comp. This is not uncommon among CC students, but generally it suggests the student had a wholly inadequate high school experience, or else had struggled mightily.

- I'm impressed that he got all "As." The standards in intro-level CC classes might not be all that high, but for him to have gotten As in courses like College Algebra and Comp, he couldn't have been as thoroughly educationally deprived as some of the others -- and is probably naturally bright. This fits with the narrative that while the kids had been abused for years, it escalated over time.

- I'm floored that public speaking was one of the courses. What would have been the parents' motivation for allowing this? What kinds of things did he talk about? If he was completely unaware of the world around him, this would have come out in a course like that, so again, it suggests the older kids at one point had exposure that the younger ones didn't.

-Given early comments that doctors were particularly worried about Survivor 1, it seems significant that DT and LT only permitted Survivor 2 to take college courses, and not the eldest. Was it a gender issue, or an instance of them treating her especially harshly?

Still wondering why they let him take classes at all. Maybe they were counting on him to support them. Maybe it was a way of making things look normal for extended family. But it is probably useless to look for any rational thinking from these monsters. It may well have just been another kind of mind game.
