[h=1]Human skeletal remains found by hikers in Placer County[/h]
The body was found in an area of brush about 200 feet from Foresthill Road between Upper and Lower Lake Clementine Roads.

Deputies said the body had been there for a while and had degraded to skeletal remains.
"It is going to take some time to determine exactly how long it's been there, but because of the condition it's in, it's been a considerable amount of time," said Lt. Andrew Scott with the Placer County Sheriff's Office.

"We don't know if it was foul play or if it was natural causes. Obviously, that's going to be one of the things we're investigating," he said.
Additionally, Scott said investigators don't know how old the person was at the time of his or her death.
He said investigators found remnants of clothing near the body, but they were not enough to determine if the person was a man or a woman.
The Placer County pathologist will work to determine the person's identity as well as a cause of death.
