"Mr Edwards was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody with his case adjourned until July."

I have a feeling this trial will be decided by judge alone and not a jury. The trial could go on for 5-6 weeks easily

That will be up to his legal team , they decide if it is to be a judge or jury trial , but I agree it will probably be judge only , I doubt he could find a fair jury in Perth

Many thanks to those of you who have participated within this forum for the long-term and recent months. You’ve really helped reach many of the much needed answers. Not one of your ideas was too far-fetched, in fact, the ideas just revealed how imaginative your minds really are and that your knowledge of various subjects cannot be matched by anyone else. Keep up the good work, with special thanks to:

I know there was some suggestion about police perhaps using the SS charge to buy more time. I wonder if that's to put pressure on BRE. Being in limbo is hard.

I doubt it will put pressure on him , the opposite could be true , he will be well set in his ways by now , in his comfort zone so to speak , I cannot see how leaving him there puts pressure on him ... he maybe in limbo but as long as he is he is innocent according to the law

A lot could be printouts of email - perhaps the accused told someone 'something' via email.

Not saying it would work (if he hasn't done anything there's nothing for him to say; if he has, confessing doesn't help him at this point), just that it might be a tactic they are trying.

BRE has appeared in court for the first time since he was charged with the wilful murder of Sarah Spiers 22 years ago.

Ms Spiers’ father at the back of Stirling Gardens Magistrate’s Court this morning to watch his daughter’s alleged killer on a screen. The court hearing was also witnessed by Ms Glennon’s father Denis and Ms Rimmer’s loved ones.

BRE showed little emotion when he appeared by videolink from Hakea Prison facing three charges of wilful murder. He is also facing charges over two separate sex attacks on teenagers in 1988 and 1995.

The case was adjourned for 12 weeks after the new wilful murder charge relating to Ms Spiers was read to Mr Edwards.

The public gallery in the court was packed with people during Mr Edwards’ fourth court appearance.

BRE, who wore prison greens and glasses, spoke only to confirm he understood the charge.

Prosecutor Carmel Barbagallo told the court prosecutors were currently reviewing and categorising more than 1.5 million pages of material. She said they were well progressed but would not be done before the end of June.

Finally got the Perth Now link: (not for want of trying) Should BRE plead "not guilty" I too feel that this will be a Judge only trial and knowing how long these things take in Court - with all the charges it will be a trial for over 8 months I would estimate. https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/cr...y-robert-edwards-in-perth-court-ng-b88759381z
The pictures of Don Speirs & Dennis Glennon are heart-wrenching.....they look like 'broken soul's. [emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]

I hope it is not being delayed as a stalling tactic to find more evidence, and rather because they have so much evidence they need to organise it.

That's a very nice thing to say, CV. I have enjoyed reading everything you have said and gotten a lot out of your insights as well.

Thanks ESH,

I haven't read anything that Parkie posted, because he was before my time. Would you be so kind enough to remember Parkie and others who have contributed to the forum. Many thanks.

Some light entertainment whilst we await trial. Who is Carmel Barbagallo who's mentioned in the media?

My view is that people like BRE are better off dragging out the pre-conviction period for as many years as possible. Better off spending time in remand for as long as you can!

Just popping in has the insiders Frankie and Trueblue had much to add lately?

I agree entirely , he would be a fool not to , its a new ballgame when he enters the general population , or worse still the protection unit with the other whackos
