Ted Bundy's mother also had an unusual relationship with her son. She had him out-of-wedlock. There is a theory that he was the result of incest, but I have no reason to believe it without solid proof. Anyhow, his grandpa put a lot of pressure on is daughter, Ted's mom, to give Ted up for adoption, but she refused. Then Ted's own grandpa adopted him. And later, when Ted's biomom married, she took him to her new family. Bundy was her husband's name. Of all kids, mother always favored Ted. She suffered so much to have him.
I feel sorry for her. She must have blamed herself immensely later in life.

I wonder if he was adopted to a different family he'd turn out the same way?

I think that was the ‘exclusive’ but there’s been two others that I’m aware of...correct me if I’m wrong

I believe I have seen four videos now, two of them were from the same station I believe. Perhaps somebody has them all separated to put up in one post? My guess is that somebody has them in their Pinterest *nod to PommyMommy*

Probably it would have been better if mom gave him up for adoption. I think his condition was, mostly, genetic, but he grew up close to poverty, and hated it. And it is believed that Ted's relationship with his first girlfriend, who was from an affluent family and dumped Ted because she did not see much potential in him, traumatized him a lot. Most of his victims, to a degree, resembled her.

Money/affluent parents could have only made things worse NOT better. He could have gotten away with much more before he was caught!
Think American Psycho

I don’t understand their lack of action in hiring attorney if they feel their son is being railroaded and unjustly kept from communicating with them. Mortgage your house, beg, borrow to come up with the funds. Maybe they just do not know any better or maybe it is too much effort, idk.

I know the chances of this are somewhere between none and hell freezing over, but I would sure love to see CW stand up in that courtroom Monday and detail exactly what he did, taking full responsibility, while Mama Watts completely Loses. Her. Mind. and gets escorted out wailing like a banshee.

Sorry not sorry.

I just finished listening to episode 121 of sword and scale about the Neil Entwistle case. ( someone up thread had mentioned this is another family Annihilator so I searched for it) It was another family Annihilator that killed his wife and baby in 2004 and then fled to Europe.

After his sentencing, his parents said that they know that Neal is innocent, and said that she committed murder suicide as she was depressed.

It was also interesting that when he was arrested a letter was found in his possession that was soliciting the selling of his rights to his story to the highest bidder.

Plus, we don't know if Ted was the result of an incest. If he were, he probably knew, or guessed at a certain point. He was very smart.

It might have screwed him up even more. I don't believe one incestuous case would beget a serial killer, as human race used to be more incestuous in the past, but the mere thought that Ted's birth was the result of breaking a major taboo might have had a profound effect on him. (Nothing good can be said about his maternal grandfather, btw; he was horribly abusive).

I wish they did a DNA test before he was executed.

I tried listening to one of their podcasts but it ended up being a waste of time. The first several minutes were just them begging for more money. I've never listened to more spiteful sanctimonious women than those two. At least their gravy train is about to end. JMO

It's available on other platforms, but Itunes has removed it from its' store. That's a big black mark against them.:D

Oh no, you couldn't pay me to listen. I tried and couldn't make it through one of them. And, if CW's defense team is aware that his family provides information to MRS and/or actively participates in any FB groups, it would be perfectly understandable if they advised CW not to communicate with his family. Based on past experience, those FB groups are full of whack jobs who invent their own facts, twist things to their advantage and come up with some of the most insane theories I've ever heard. The Watts need a legal representative/spokesperson to speak for them, not a sensationalist. They're in way over their heads. MOO

I have seen this happen in some missing persons cases. When strangers approach people at their lowest moment, offering help and advice, it’s best to be skeptical and very cautious. There is almost always an ulterior motive. The Watts family is being victimized by these people who will soon move on to gossiping about the next case. They should have hired an attorney or a family spokesperson. This is really bad.
I wonder why they did not consult an outside attorney from the beginning of this. I think the Public Defenders have represented him in the best way they could. If they want a high powered attorney they would have to pay a ton of money for that service. And I have not seen a Katherine Zellner type step up to take this case pro bono. No one apparently will touch it.

I still can’t believe the family is taking their legal and PR advice from these podcasts hosts. People who have no qualifications besides setting up a podcast, becoming close with the family, and showing up to the plea hearing.
And, not to mention...they are quite new at the podcast thing....brand new, in fact. This is their first "case" as far I know.

The reality is that CW could have contacted his family if he really wanted to contact them. His attorneys work for him and his best interest. But they could not have stopped him from calling his parents if he insisted on doing so.

Someone objective and who has actual knowledge of the law needs to explain this reality to CW’s parents. They believe CW did not make his own decision to take a plea, when that is exactly what he did. He chose not to consult with or talk to his parents about his decision. He was not railroaded.

Agreed!
