FL FL - Austin Stephanos & Perry Cohen, both 14, Jupiter, 24 July 2015 - #2

Yes, the photo was taken by his granddaughter flying in wind.
I believe them.
He said when he first spotted it he lowered to 200ft
Said the object was as big as a midsize car hood,
tied together with a life jacket, with a "small person" on top of it.
The person raised both arms.
BUT when he increased his altitude TO RADIO search crews
in Jacksonville, he lost sight of the person, according to the report.

What could’ve happened to the person? How did he lose sight of him?

Pilot says he saw person in water during Austin and Perry search; more details emerge from report

Here’s the article.

The coast guard TOLD the pilot TO LEAVE.
He left thinking they would rescue the boy...end of story.
The coastguard never found the boy. The debris. Anything.
For other posters...the granddaughter took that photo from 3,000 ft
Evidently, like many of us, you take the photo after you process
what just happened. I can only imagine the pilot quickly ascended
(once spotting the boy) from 200ft to a good radio frequency.

They may have actually been able to
Find one of them and then possibly find the other. I still have hope but it seems as though they likely perished.

Depending upon the composition of the debris, and the way it had been strapped together, it's very possible that raising and/or waving his arms may have capsized the item. imho

To be clear, I believe them, I just can't make heads or tails of the picture.

This week four years ago, a fishing boat that once carried 14-year-old boys Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen out to sea was found by the U.S. Coast Guard without the boys aboard.

At the time, it was the latest development in a national drama to find the missing Tequesta teens.

Two days before the boat was found, on July 24, 2015, Austin and Perry left the Jupiter inlet aboard a 19-foot Seacraft boat as a storm brewed.

Austin’s cell phone was discovered on board, but no clues have been recovered.

After extensive testing and court battles, Apple could not power on the iPhone.

Perry Cohen’s parents sued Carly Black and Blu Stephanos, Austin’s father, in 2017 for wrongful death. They allege the couple should not have let the boys out on the water.

Black and Stephanos, in court filings, denied the claims.

The lawsuit was ongoing as of July 2019.

This week marks four years since Austin and Perry disappeared at sea

8 Details From the Investigative Report On the Missing Florida Teens Are Too Strange to Be Ignored | IJR %

Pilot Bobby Smith tells Independent Journal Review that he believes he saw a blonde-haired boy laying over a makeshift floating device in the middle of the ocean just two days after Austin and Perry went missing.

- Blonde haired boy-
Even if they went down to 200 feet of altitude you couldn't tell what color someone's hair was from that altitude. I used to fly pipeline patrol at such altitudes and sometimes if there was a dead animal (cow/deer) near the right of way we couldn't tell what it was from the altitude. And why not take a photo from that altitude - why was the only photo taken from 3000 feet.

If you read up thread...this has been asked/ answered.
It was because he quickly ascended to a radio altitude to report the sighting. His granddaughter took the photo when they were done climbing.
I see no reason to not believe them. JMO.
