There have been lots of speculation on the cause of Nora Anne's death which prompted the authorities to issue a warning against those sharing fake news.

A search-and-rescue team found Nora Anne's remains in a ravine at 1.57pm on Tuesday (Aug 13).

Her remains had to be winched up by helicopter and taken to the hospital for the post-mortem.

Nora Anne's naked body was found in a stream some 2.5km from the resort she was staying in.

The teenager disappeared from the resort she was living with her family on Aug 4.

She had checked into the property with her parents Sebastian Marie Philipe and Meabh Jaseprine Quoirin and siblings Innes Julia and Maurice Arthure a day earlier.

However, she was not found in her room she shared with her siblings the following morning.

A window in the room that could only be opened from the inside was open.

Nora Anne's family appeals for end to speculation on her death

I think there is only so much speculation and rumours abounding because of all the inconsistencies like where she was sleeping, the extent of her disabilities, which window was open where, whether window lock was broken etc etc. (no mention of the latter here, either)

It's an article about Anne Brennan claiming that Nora's parents are responsible for her death.

This lawyer has posted horrible things on her facebook about the parents. Please do not believe these awful lies by Anne Brennan.
Thankfully I think by now most people don't pay much attention to those who publish their theories only in the wild west of facebook. She'll get an audience there but no credibility.

There are some interesting stories re Malay culture and lore re jungle spirits and stories about other who went missing for days and reappeared close by saying all the time could hear the search and their name being called but couldn’t move.

I’m certainly not discounting the mysterious but it could equally be a potentially mind altering plant that affects people differently either through scent/pollen/ingestion. Some people may have no reaction whiles other may be very sensitive Eg the datura flower & fruit

A UK-based missing persons charity supporting the family of Nora Anne Quoirin have rejected an Irish lawyer’s allegation that the family were complicit in Nora Anne’s disappearance and death.

“There is no truth in this story,” said Matthew Searle, chief executive of the Lucie Blackman Trust, in a brief reply to FMT when asked for comments on FMT’s report today that police were looking into the claims raised by lawyer Anne Brennan.

Brennan, who is a child activist, had accused the Nora’s family of doing “everything in their power to subvert the course of justice”. She alleged that the parents, Meabh and Sebastien Quorin, had “high-tailed” it out of the country upon receiving a guarantee that they would not be investigated for any involvement in the teenager’s disappearance and death.
UK charity denies Nora's family involved in her death

“(They) somehow convinced the Malaysian authorities to abandon their murder inquiry and release Nora’s body without producing the necessary forensic and toxicology reports that form part of every standard criminal death investigation,” she said.

Calling the entire matter a “cover-up”, Brennan said the Quoirins had given no account of their movements in the hours before they reported their daughter missing.

“All the simple routine things that happen in a missing child case and criminal investigation failed to happen in the case of Nora.”

Brennan also said the police had confirmed there was no evidence of a “third party” entering the family’s villa on the night Nora Anne was reported missing.

“There was no evidence of a struggle. No fingerprints, footprints, or screams. Nobody heard anything.

“Malaysian police said that Nora did not go alone. A third party was involved, and the third party was someone known to Nora.”
Cops looking into lawyer's claim that Nora Anne's family involved in her death

Police today denied a foreign media report claiming they had taken the parents of 15-year-old Nora Anne Quoirin to meet mediums after the search for the Franco-Irish teenager came to a dead end.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop confirmed he had given no such orders to any of his officers.

“No necessity at all (to do so),” was his brief answer in a WhatsApp text message to Bernama here today.

In their report today, the United Kingdom's Daily Mail, quoting sources familiar with the investigation, said the police, in their desperation, had taken Nora Anne's parents to meet several mediums in the hope of finding a breakthrough when their search for the teenager appeared to have come to a dead end.

THIS... is exactly the kind of thing that has led to so much speculation. If they have a lawyer working for them, you would think there could be one concise report, and not all these rumours and different people saying different things. Confusing and doesn't help their case, IMO.

That's the Daily Mail. It's their business to create confusion, and get people visiting their webpages. Their 'source' - if they actually have one and they haven't just made it up - could be the one of the ex-cops who appear regularly on the news channels, not necessarily anyone actually actively involved in this case.

Some of the rivers in Malaysia have crocodiles in them. I can't imagine anyone wanting to swim in them.

Omg. This is one reason I’m terrified of rivers. I live on the shores of the Columbia and I never go in. Nope! There aren’t crocodiles but who knows what is lurking under there!

But why should people not believe it? It is literally as crazy as the theory that someone broke in and took her, or that a child with such limited abilities as described by her parents could do this herself.

The police are faced with having no evidence to suggest she didn't do it herself (as far as we know). Neither has Brennan got any. There is evidence that suggests she did do it herself.
