Wondering exactly what has caused them to specify "felony child neglect"?
Sounds more serious than simple neglect.
Was Taylor starved to death ?
Beaten ?
Tortured ?

I don't love that he used the phrases "forensic specialists" and "forensic analysis" instead of "autopsy" and "medical examiner."
Sounds like someone they'd call in for a dismemberment.
Hope not.

Oddly, just before the charges were made public, I was looking at a pic of baby girl Taylor in her car seat. Smile on her face, clothes that appeared to be clean, cute and well fitting, a bag of some sort of snack (Wholey Cheese, I think it said?) on the seat next to her. My thought was, in this pic at least, "she looks happy, healthy, and well cared for".

Then BOOM... "felony child neglect". Who knows, maybe she was actually, happy, healthy and well cared for until recently, and mom just snapped. I suppose it's possible.

#UPDATE Mother of Taylor Williams arrested after remains found confirmed to be those of 5-year-old girl. Brianna Williams in serious condition after overdose
WPLG Local 10 News

Search teams uncovered human remains in a wooded area in Alabama on Tuesday during the search for Taylor Williams. The remains were later confirmed to be those of the girl.
Mother of Taylor Williams arrested, taken to hospital after overdose

Is this just a case of misinterpretation?

I think that the posters here saying that they said a prayer for BW and wish her no harm but healing, and forgiveness towards her regardless of what she may have done speak very well towards the character of those specific posters.
We have some good people here at WS.

Can't help but think of the suffering of little Lucas Hernandez, Gabriel Fernandez, Adrian (AJ) Jones, and others.

You would not want to have been the helpless victim of this woman-- if that's what happened.
Or if she allowed someone else to hurt Taylor. Just as vile of an act as harming her daughter herself.
I can't give her a pass, yet.
My .02.

From what we know of her, she is an intelligent person. I can only assume she knew what she was doing with overdosing and probably was accurate with what she took or the amount she took. She’s had a week to plan for it.
May have taken the cowards' way out.
Makes it look like she knows she's going down for this.

Poor Taylor !!!!

Child neglect. Brianna had choices. If Taylor was such a burden, then contact her family for help she had 2 sisters and a mother, contact social services, contact a therapist.

ITA. And I just want to add that I see many posts suggesting that maybe this is a case of child neglect. Legally, child neglect is child abuse. If a child dies during the commission of child abuse, it is felony murder.

The child is either dead or missing (they haven't said that the body was 100% identified yet) and she is the caretaker. She either caused the death or disappearance herself or she knowingly allowed the child to be in a situation where someone else caused it.

Whatever occurred doesn't have to be as gruesome as you are thinking. Drinking and driving with my kid in the car or allowing my kid to ride in the car with someone that I know is impaired can both bring felony neglect charges I believe.

NO, no pass at all from me, LietKynes, and anyone who knows my history in following child missing/murder cases knows I am "throw the book, let 'em rot in jail". And I still feel that same way here. Yet, I feel that something very horrible and traumatic happened to Brianna and possibly Taylor, too, that caused this horrific downward spiral. Contrary to not wanting BW held accountable and punished for her actions, I want that very much. But I also want to know if there were any signs here that this was an overwhelmed, isolated, traumatized mom who could've been intercepted before something awful happened. I'm around a lot of young moms & I know from talking to them, that when they feel overwhelmed, esp. high achievers, they often clam up and are afraid to share what's really going on in their minds/bodies. This is where I'm coming from in little Taylor's case. We can no longer help Taylor, but is there another child/mother out there for whom it's not too late.

I think everyone can agree, something strange happened. Mental health or another person?

I've been lurking on this page since the first Amber Alert and just made my acct this morning after *advertiser censored* got real with BW. We live out here, husband's AD at Mayport and this whole thing is messed up. She better not die. We want answers and right now, the Navy is going to be in BIG TROUBLE because they should've been keeping a close eye on her since Day 1!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The mother of a 5-year-old girl reported missing from Jacksonville last week has been arrested on charges of child neglect and giving false information to investigators in the search for her daughter, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams and State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced Tuesday.

Brianna Williams was absentee booked, as the sheriff confirmed that she was flown earlier in the day from Naval Air Station Jacksonville to UF Health hospital.
