It’s not location, it’s selling wholesale quantities for mass distribution. Before school systems and restaurants would bulk order to distribute among schools and in restaurants. Now those orders are gone. Grocery stores couldn’t store that quantity of product. Also, demand may be down- kids drink milk at home but may be allowed to drink juice or soda at home. It’s a huge disruption.

I understand, but the same amounts should be needed at home or outside of the home and I assume this is why we have shortages at grocery stores. They need to work out how to get those products to us via the grocery.

I've also read 20% can have intestinal problems with nausea, and throwing up along with diarrhea.

I hadn't been in the hospital since 1987 when I had a hysterectomy.

I dont even have colds or the flu even though my hubby does, and when I'm his caregiver I still didnt catch the flu or colds. I dont get viruses either.

However in February 29, 2020 I woke up at 2am feeling very nauseated. Then began the worst experience I've ever had. I didn't have diarrhea, but the throwing up continued all that Saturday only getting worse. My hubby was begging me to go to the hospital, but I told him I had probably just picked up a virus, and it would go away. It didn't. At 3:00am Sunday morning he gave me no choice. They immediately admitted me. I couldnt eat, or drink anything. I guess I had thrown up so much it made the top part of my stomach raw, and inflamed. It literally felt like someone was ripping me open in the area in the middle right below my breasts. That pain continued for 6 days so I had nothing to drink or eat simply because it was too painful when it hit that specific area.

I have a high toleration pain level. I know this having to live with constant spinal pain.

But at one point I told my hubby I just wanted to die because I couldnt tolerate the pain anymore. To say the least that caused many tears to be shed by him, and our children too, but at the time, I meant it.

They gave me all sorts of meds in my IV ports. I had three ports at one time being used. One was potassium because it was critically low when admitted from all of the vomiting. I continued to have it thru that Friday until the doctor changed it to powdered potassium mixed with apple juice which I was finally able to swallow although still extremely painful.

On that Thursday I received three more flower arrangements. Then all of a sudden I began to sneeze, cough uncontrollably, gag, and it was hard to breathe. I don't have allergies, but to be safe my hubby took all flowersout of my room, and brought them home. It wasnt the flowers for it continued, and even when I came home it continued for over 2 weeks.

Then on Friday the night nurse insisted I take more liquid potassium even though I told her it had been changed to powder. It burned when taking it thru the IV.
I told her three times i wanted it by mouth. She ignored me so the port blewout. So I wound up with my hand swelling 10 times it's normal size. I thought my skin was literally going to explode before she came to take the port out. It was hurting so badly I thought I was going to pass out. Even now over a month later it's still swollen, and a knot is still on the top of my hand.

I had many tests ran during my stay. One was an endoscopy which I wound up going into Afib once the given propofol, and lidocaine. I was then rushed to the cardiologist floor resulting in several heart tests being run after then. All of those came out great.

I had never had any heart problems before in my entire life. In fact all of my vitals were perfect. The nurses even commented on how my vitals would usually be seen in someone who is in their 20s. Other tests I was to have done were also aborted three times due to the ineptness of the hospital staff.

Finally I had had enough of the unnecessary emotional, and physical trauma, and my family members were also beyond being enraged.

So we all demanded I be released so I could get out of that hell hole, and go home.

I still dont know what in the heck happened to me though on February 29th, but I never ever want to go thru it again.

This is the same hospital that virus patients must go to for care. Our area is the hotspot for my state. I'm saddened anyone has to depend on this hospital, nurses, and doctors. While there are still good nurses, and doctors there, many are not.

This is why it has a notoriously bad reputation way before this deadly virus struck our area.

God help all who wind up there for care.

Jmho

I am so thankful you survived. Did you see Dr. Phil today? Sometimes his shows get on my nerves, but I just happen to catch this true experience.

This 22 yr. old girl, had joked about the virus before she got it. She shared how sick she got and it was CV-19. I had just read about your terrible nausea, then here's this girl on tv talking about the nauseous symptom she had. Said she had to crawl to the bathroom and it was two weeks of hell. She can't believe how sick she was. What did you have? It sounds like you did have CV-19. Horrible and I'm so glad you're doing fine now. I wonder if you did have the virus and made antibodies?

‘It’s Just Ignorant To Joke About Having Coronavirus,’ Says 22-Year-Old

MOO, there's never any guarantee we won't get sick with something that brings us to our knees, no matter what age or how healthy. Life has good and bad surprises. It's better to be careful and expect the unexpected.

“Colorado has successfully pushed back its expected peak in coronavirus cases until at least next month, an important shift to give health officials and hospitals more time to prepare for a potential surge in COVID-19 patients, a top state public health official said Thursday.

Social distancing and stay-at-home measures have helped push the curve to the right, preventing health care facilities from being overwhelmed, Scott Bookman, the state’s incident commander for COVID-19, said on a conference call with reporters.”

[...]

“Over the weekend, Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House’s coronavirus response coordinator, said she was worried about new hotspots emerging for the virus around the country, including in Colorado. And on Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious-disease doctor, agreed when a news anchor mentioned Colorado’s potential for the virus’s spread.”

[...]

“In response to Birx’s comments, a spokesman for Polis said in a statement that “the data and science tell us that communities in Colorado are certainly among areas around the country that are on the front lines of this pandemic.””

I forgot to tell you all. I don't know if this is the new standard or not. But good idea if you have to send someone off in an ambulance.

The EMTs gave me a pen and had me write my name and cell # on the transfer sheet. So the hospital would know who to call if my mom couldn't.
This is so important everyone. Thank you @CSIDreamer Please make sure if you call for an emergency that you do give a name, number and relationship. The time EMT had to intubate me in the front yard, they drove off with their lights on and that was the last my family knew. They told them they would take me to the nearest hospital that specialized in respiratory failure that had a bed open. I ended up in ICU on a ventilator. My family had to call around every emergency room in the city to find me. Then the hospital could only say if I was admitted there and a room number and a condition. No further details were released due to Hippa. The only reason my daughter was able to talk to the doctor and nurses when she arrived at the hospital was because I’ve designated her as Proxy in my Advance Directive. She had the paperwork in hand.

This is totally crazy pants to me. I run a rescue and you can’t adopt our cats if you plan to let them outside. It’s the opposite of your situation.
In most of the US, if you allow cat outside, they are facing a lot of dangers such as being run over by a car (cars are everywhere). Maybe it's different in UK.

Kudos to you for running a rescue.

On occasion we will drop by our local pet no-kill rescue/adoption place to drop off clean used towels and bags of dog and cat food when we can. They are always appreciative of things like that we can bring them. But do try to call ahead to make sure of the things they need if you can help them. Our local place must do a lot of bathing and cleaning of their animals because they always request good clean old used towels.

It really makes their day when they can get supplies they need and they do not have to use their limited funds to do it.

Each of these drugs (hydroxychlorquine and Z-pac) could be bad for the heart. There is very little evidence that they do much (or any) good for covid. I am glad they are doing proper studies in US with control groups. Otherwise the drugs are being prescribed to people with very little evidence that they do any good for covid, and potential to cause serious harm. As of now, I fully believe it's far from being a magic bullet.

"The leaders of three professional societies in cardiology warned on April 8 in the journal Circulation that hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin can each cause dangerous disruptions in heart rhythm, and they wrote, “There are very limited data evaluating the safety of combination therapy.”"

They may be being prescribed as part of a clinical trial or study. There are many going on at the moment and I and other have posted details. I cannot see medics just giving drugs without any oversight or instructions. MOO

It is definitely different in the UK. I'm in a FB group with cat lovers from all over the world and very few countries feel the same way we do in the USA about allowing cats outside. I've seen many heated arguments--so much so that the subject is pretty much banned in the group.

Yes, I'm in the southeast. That's good news about the reds as there was only one package of white seed potatoes left in my garden store. I got mostly red potatoes and some sweet potatoes too. Supposedly sweet potatoes will do really well here too. I'm going to grow in potato bags-- I bought some on Amazon similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/247Garden-5-...a4db-4490-a794-9cd9552ac58d&tag=bestcont06-20

I grow red potatoes down here and they do great. I've not had much luck growing in bags or buckets though. I think maybe I'm just too lazy to stay on top of the increased watering and feeding in containers. But they have always done really good for me in GA.

What's it like in most of these other countries? I have to admit I find it odd that everyone in the US acts like you must keep a cat locked inside full time.

Do you mean dairy farms ship it to groceries? It's raw, it has to be processed and pasturized. Dairy farms sell to creameries and other plants that process it before it is ready for sale. If they won't buy it from the dairy farms, the farms can't sell it.
I live 1 1/2 miles from a small family dairy/farm. They have both raw and pasturized milk. I don't hear real well, so the first time I went to their farm, walked into their building, they asked what I wanted. I said milk and cheese. They asked me if I brought a container for the milk (at which time I was puzzled), I said no, they pulled a gallon jar from their stock and proceeded to fill it from a stainless steel tank. They asked again, what else I wanted, and I replied cheese. They then lead me to their store! They had great cheese, and PASTURIZED milk, plus frozen meat. I bought what I wanted, went home, then it hit me. They thought I wanted milk FOR cheese making, which is raw. I laughed, since I couldn't have raw products (because I have immune problems) I gave it to my friend who made a swedish Ostaka! So many of our dairy's have the ability to pasturize milk and they sell it in farmers markets and to small coop stores.

Some of our grocery stores are limiting the amount of milk folks can buy. It doesn't matter if you have 5 teenagers and a baby in your house, you still get just 2, 4-litre bags of milk.

Some farmers in UK have machines and sell raw milk straight to customers. It's very popular. Or they could make it into cheese or ice cream. Also, don't the dairies have contracts and have to buy the milk?

I wouldn't say very popular, maybe where you are... but I live in a farming community in the UK and don't know anyone who does this. I didn't even know it was legal.

I also do this for a local no-kill dog shelter. I have also gotten two dogs there. I also send them food on a monthly basis. My dogs are so good and such a comfort to me that I want to help the shelter and of course I am a pet lover.

Think about how many schools are no longer ordering milk for the kids, or bakeries for their products, restaurants for recipes, etc.

It's a lot. I hate that it's being wasted. And the eggs, too. They're scarce in my area, and I'd imagine that coloring eggs is going to look different this year with a shortage.
IMO JMO

Dumping milk, eggs.. It's all about the laws of supply and demand.

#2 below is taking place at the moment because of the pandemic. Except demand for dairy products didn't really decrease. We still want them. But because of the widespread of closures of restaurants, schools, hotels, airliners, there are oversupply of dairy products. The farmers don't want the price to go down from the oversupply. Dumping comes next.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
The four basic laws of supply and demand are:
1.If demand increases and supply remains unchanged, a shortage occurs, leading to a higher equilibrium price.
2.If demand decreases and supply remains unchanged, a surplus occurs, leading to a lower equilibrium price.
3.If demand remains unchanged and supply increases, a surplus occurs, leading to a lower equilibrium price.
4.If demand remains unchanged and supply decreases, a shortage occurs, leading to a higher equilibrium price

This is a good idea. Our health card (Canada) has next of kin and contact included in the personal information, but if one hasn't been to a doctor in a while, that information could have changed.
