If you continue right down the road the image change, and another white car appears. I've looked at it back to back with a pic of what a 3-door white vauxhall astra would look like and it's very similar. Could you confirm?

The link isn't work, SleuthyOSleuth. I understand this car hire place was shut last year in any case? Also If the car was hired from one of the big three in Dover (Likely IMO) it would be a model less than a year old and I don't believe this latest model of Astra is available as a 3 door.

I disagree, I believe she only reached the coverage she did because of the sheer determination of her friends. Women, and young girls disappear frequently, and never reach this level of exposure. Leah Croucher for example disappeared off the streets in broad daylight on her way to work, yet many have never heard her name.

1. I agree with the above. I believe her friends and their wider circle (including some blue ticks on Twitter) were instrumental in forcing fast attention. I was the victim of a street robbery earlier this year - in a lit city centre with the assailant's escape route lined by CCTV and my phone trackable for over two hours afterwards. Despite the ease with which the suspects could have been apprehended, infuriatingly the police did not follow up and I learned a lot about their triage system (graded 1 to 5) in the subsequent days. Essentially all police efforts are currently on covid related breaches and immediate threats to life - anything else is sidelined or closed. They tried to close my case but I kicked up an enormous fuss and gave them a dossier of information. They are now following up. My conclusion: anything which they can sideline at the moment they will. Sarah's contacts ensured police attention was relatively prompt and focused, but there were still possible failings in their response in light of watchdog referral. Without Sarah's friends pushing, the case may not have gained attention and been looked at so quickly. Once it became apparent a police officer may have been involved, media and public attention were further engaged.

2. Police failure to follow up on the alleged IE offence is related to the same capacity issues in my view and not officers trying to protect one of their own. I believe it was given a low response grade and then repeatedly considered less important than other incidents coming in. This conduct is being investigated.
(Look up Incident Response Policy if interested.)

3. Further, the alleged IE offence is central to the whole narrative in my view. It's indicative of impulse control spiralling for days and points to any collision of the accused with Sarah being random. Their worlds do not seem to overlap and I believe she simply had the very worst luck. It could have been anyone - possibly others were considered that evening or previous days and were near misses without realising. The location of the alleged kidnapping could have been chosen because it was thought to be a CCTV blind spot, or it could have been entirely opportunistic without much thought.

4. I do not think Sarah got into a car willingly. Caught off guard she could have been bundled into the front seat in seconds. No big struggle needed. Almost certainly no gun. Based on my experience with the robbery above, it takes a few seconds to realise what's happening and that's all it takes. I thought "oh my god, that thing which happens to other people is right now happening to me" and it was surreal. The accused could easily have been leaning into the car to cuff or otherwise restrain her at the point of the second bus passing and recording the scene.

5. Given the likelihood of sexual motivation (consistent with cases like this and also the alleged IE/ seeming compulsive Exhibitionistic Disorder), I would expect the digital footprint of the accused's pornographic interests to be revealing.

I noticed that the Guildpark Car parking area in Sanwich, near the Rope Walk has a large auto repair / car wash area at the side of it.

Would his vehicle have been tracked to the car wash place by CCTV and maybe some surveillance cameras there noted someone who resembled the alleged perp putting something in the recycling and/or strolling along the river there.

That is a good thought. Wonder if they need a specialist team to examine the car wash.

if he is so lacking in morals that he is prepared to take the life of a young woman (allegedly) I can’t see him caring too much about the legality of having firearms away from work
I agree, it will be interesting during the trial or after, what we learn about his 'hobbies' etc. and the morals thing goes without saying, (allegedly WC) wanted to cause enormous fear in his victim, it's more than just the sex act itself, it's about control and seeing the terror in his victims face, that's what he gets off on.

Not sure if this link will go direct to Sandwich but you should be able to move the around and zoom. It shows the CCTV for all the towns in this cae.

The area where this new search is is surrounded by CCTV!

Was wondering if they had tracked the Astra to that area during between March 3 - 5.

I identified my sister for the police after she had been dead for 6-7 days. That was 16 years ago and it is projected onto the back of my eyes so I see it every night before I go to sleep. I am glad that things have changed somewhat.

I am sorry that you had such a heart breaking experience and that the distress was compounded by having to identify your sister.

I think someone else posted a while back (although speculation) that when the number plates of the hire car were run through the system, they could have matched those from the IE and been automatically linked, which could have helped them determine who the alleged perpetrator might be. That is all supposition as well of course. But I can't see he would use his own car for the IE as it could be traced back to him easily.

<snipped by me for focus>

You may be right of course but I thought the whole point of the enquiry into the police investigation of the alleged IE offence was because the accused could have been traced easily if the legwork had just been done in a timely fashion. As it is, the arrest for IE at the same time as the kidnap/murder arrests suggests that linking that car to the accused was in fact straightforward once the IE incident was taken seriously. JMHO

I'm sorry if this was already answered, but how do we know both front doors of his car were open and the hazard lights were on?
Minutes after Ms Everard’s last confirmed appearance in camera footage from 3 March, the night of her disappearance, the court heard that a bus camera captured two figures on Poynders Road and a white Vauxhall Astra with its hazard lights flashing.
Another bus camera captured the same car with both front doors open.
The registration of the vehicle – later confirmed to be a car hired in Dover – was captured as it left London towards Kent.

Sarah Everard's body was found in builder's bag and identified with dental records, court hears

There's a CCTV camera on Cattle Market just at the entrance to the Guildhall Car Park and just at that car wash. Very close to where LE has been searching

Hmmm

Thanks for you kind comment. The police were fantastic but it was a very sad and mysterious case. No complaints about the police but it's very hard for the family. I am always here for these type of cases as I know the other side.

Wow good question. Think we should compile a list of questions for met legal team. I imagine conversations with US have been a bit awkward.

I don't quite understand - in what way compromise the security of the buildings and teams he worked with please? Am I being dense? :)

Could well have been tracked to some extent via ANPR. It could also be that someone has talked or been very sloppy (like having their phone tracked to these locations).

Afternoon, Wednesday 10 March

Scotland Yard confirms the police officer arrested over Ms Everard’s disappearance has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Sarah Everard disappearance: What we know so far

How did they know she was dead before they found her remains? Had he admitted he killed her when being questioned? Or did they find some evidence to confirm she was dead? She wasn't positively identified until Friday..
Could be either of those. He could've been crying when they were asking questions, like, 'have you harmed SE?' Some of these men do breakdown but refuse to give all the details because they feel shame, which isn't remorse, shame at being caught and in his case, questioned by the police force he works for. jmo
