What a community! Thank you all for your special skills and talents! I am never going to be the person that remembers the minute details of evidence, nor am I going to research crime scene conditions using any type of math. I am fixated on what motivates human behavior, and how that manifests in crime and crime scenes. We all have a role to play, and my faith in humanity and the power of community is renewed every day here!
That said, let's talk about shame. What is shame? AM is shameless and also said to be motivated to commit these crimes by shame. I feel shame on his behalf when I look at him. It is shameless to murder, to steal, and lie and lie and lie to people. I don't know if he is motivated by shame. I think he is motivated by power.
I use this case to talk to my teens about accountability and the corrupting influence of unchecked power, and just how to be a good human. As my amazing dad used to say, "Don't start believing your own BS. You can lie to other people, but at the end of the day, you can't lie to yourself."
Thank you for all of your passion about justice, fairness, and kindness in this world. Please do something every day to make the world a more beautiful place in place of these victims.
