Thanks, I appreciate that. I think we all need some humor from time
to time because this events are tragic and this is a small world, in
the end. I feel people here have done an extremely good job of digging facts out, finding links, being helpful to each other for the common cause,
and it gives me a good feeling to see something working ... I wish the
Natalie Holloway case had worked as well in the beginning.

Joran is a puzzle. He made a great mistake thinking he could go into
the Great Culture of Peru and conduct his usual games at everyone's expense. These are just my personal sentiments ...

How Long will JVDS last?

Of course they are being 'nice' to Joran now. They want to find out how he can be of use to them...money, extra food, drugs, ect. He will be ok, as long as he has something that they can share, buy, or steal. If he has nothing to offer then he is just taking up their space.

JVDS is a commodity, that can be "traded", right now.
He has value.
There is money to be made, by those trying to get him, and money to be made by exploiting his access to help (money, access, etc.).

As Paintr says, when he has nothing more to offer, he's just breathing their fetid air.

I don't think that Elton Garcia was Stephany's roomate. I believe he was in town for the poker tournament and was staying in the same hotel as Joran wasn't he? I thought that Stephany still lived at home with her parents. :waitasec:

During the interview that Greta conducted with the Flores family members, I was led to believe that SF lived in the home with her mother and father.
Why then are they referring to her roommate?

I just can't believe that JVDS would try to turn himself in in Chile, and that Chile let him go! Prior to him actually being detained.

So, when the maid opened the door for Joran, she did not go inside or look inside, right? Stephany was already dead at this time, am I correct? If so, that was a bit risky, wasn't it?

Maybe I am mistaken with my timeline. If so, I apologize.

I think Joran thinks on his feet. Maybe he just wanted to establish that he was away from the room for a short time and not have the hotel employee see the body. Maybe he was hoping that the camera did not work or was just a fake. It was after all a rinky dink hotel and who would suspect fairly sophisticated working equipment in that place and that they even kept recordings for multiple days.
He could claim later that he was afraid of being accused of the murder and therefor fled. Reason, he was previously suspected erroneously(yeah,right) in the Natalee disappearance. Just remember , he was the son of an attorney with an interest in criminology. He had to remove himself from the crime scene for a short time in order to put the blame on somebody else. Those pesky cameras blew that out of the water.
He murdered Stephany for money IMO because she would not give it to him willingly or give him a loan. He also previously determined that she was good for a loan based on the money she spent in the casino.
Plain and simple premeditated resulting in murder for financial gain.

The welcoming party for the LAPT poker tournament was at 9pm on the evening of June 1st. I believe that EG said that he became concerned about Joran when he did not show up to a prearranged event on June 1st and most likely that is where they had planned to meet. I would imagine that EG hung around the party for a while and when Joran didn't show he went looking for him in the casino. When he didn't find him at the casino he might have called the hotel or asked someone in the casino to call the hotel to see if he was there. That would have been some time in the evening hours of June 1st.

I think at that point, EG was already aware that Stephany was missing and that her family suspected a kidnapping. The fact that Joran didn't show up to this important event that he had come to town for must have made EG worry that perhaps he too was kidnapped with Stephany. JMO

It's already been established that Joran is a liar. I tend to think that this is another lie. Pretty soon we'll hear how he had to bribe them to hold him for the Peruvian authorities.

Isn't there an interview referencing 'Elton Garcia' who is said to be SF's roommate? I read it above in BloodshotEye's post.

I'm thinking this is another translation error. It seem EG was staying at the same hotel as Joran. Somehow the wording ended up indicating that SF had a roommate. Actually EG was not JVS's roommate either - just someone he met at his hotel. Could this be the explanation?

Joran originally tried to blame the murder on corrupt members of the Peruvian LE who had been chasing he and Stephany down for two days. I suppose he was trying to convince the Chilean LE that he couldn't go back to Peru because it was actually members of their LE that he was running from. That didn't work and they sent him back pronto. Probably ticked Joran off so now he's telling a story about how incompetent the Chilean LE were when he tried to turn himself in and they wouldn't take him. Considering the manhunt that was going on at that time, how could anyone possibly believe this nonsense. I also remember the cab driver on the news right after they got him who admitted that he had recognized him and turned him in.

I think it's been said before on here but it appears that if you don't do what Joran wants you to do, he'll try to get revenge one way or another. He'll definitately lie about you...just ask those cab drivers he threw under the bus also.
