But since the ‘crime’ hasn’t been determined yet, ie waiting on autopsy results, he may not be eligible at this point.?

ETA I’m not sure why that first post got included in my reply but it wasn’t my intent. Lots of glitches with this new format on my end.
Isn’t think the hiding of the body would be crime enough, at least Id hope!

I remember having some thoughts about interpretation on this when it was initially discussed. Did he say "we took him to the Dr" or "I went to the Dr with him"? "We took him to the Dr" could easily be just a figure of speech.

Yes, he said "we."

Nancy asks him at about 39.50 if Lucas had any type of health issue. Jonathan answers, "No immediate health problems other than he had been um, vomiting for a few weeks and we had taken him to the doctor, and they had given him a prescription for um, liquid Zofran. And, even the prescription didn't seem to help his vomiting. So to me, I mean I don't know if it could be complications from that or that maybe he hadn't gotten enough nutrients from vomiting so long and maybe there was a problem."

We saw the look of defeat in the eyes of Jayden Alexander, how could JH not notice any changes in Lucas’ demeanor, etc?

I guess each case is different. Malik and Sherin were smiling in many photos, despite their injuries and abuse.

(As Willow Knight mentioned)
JAyden breaks my heart. I grew up round galveston love very near still (especially since getting engaged) and I’m im disgusted with his mothers. :-(

It’s a crime but until they finalize the autopsy with cod I’m not sure what victim assistance he would qualify for, was my point. And just to add apparently the DA wasn’t even willing to bring those charges against EG even though she directed DM to his body. SMH

I would love to see the medical records from this visit. The medicine didn’t help and they didn’t take him back? The doc gave no thoughts about WHY he was vomiting? IANAD, but I would think vomiting that went on for weeks in a small child would be cause for concern.

I would like to see them too, and IANAD either but who lets their child vomit for weeks and doesn't at least CALL the doctor back and say, "The medicine isn't helping, what else can be done?" Not that we know whether they called or not, but it doesn't sound like it.

Kansas: Sickest state in the nation?

Kansas: Sickest state in the nation?

A child throwing up that much is a cause for concern, but most people would have thought he had the flu. It was baaaaaad this year.
Yes. But not for 7 0r 10 days. My grand daughter had the flu last winter, and after she had 3 days of vomiting, her doctor became concerned and brought her in for more testing and gave them detailed instructions to help prevent dehydration etc.

Lucas was throwing up for much longer than a regular flu patient would commonly experience. IMO

Several thoughts come to mind.

First, we do not know exactly what this crazy pair told the PA they saw as to what Lucas symptoms were. My guess is they didn’t tell he had been vomiting for weeks as that would have required serious questions and examinations. They more than likely gave general symptoms of flu.

Secondly, they didn t return to the doctor because by that time, the medicine was not working' and it was obvious something was severely wrong with Lucas..

In my children’s day, there was a suppository for children who couldn’t keep medicine down by mouth.

Do they still make it? Live and learn - after first child got it for a bad case of flu, I knew to always keep it on hand.

My family got the flu this year. Had a few day reprieve then had a second round. We were so wore down from the first time, the second time lasted twice as long. I’ve never ever experienced anything like it. It was on the news daily how many were dying. I was afraid one of us was going to die. Staying hydrated and treating symptoms was all we were told to do.

I’m my experience, DCFS will give a stipend to him for MH child care. I have fostered some children who were reunited with their children here in Texas, anyway, the DCFS has contracted with multiple child care centers in the area and covers the amount completely so parent can work and afford to them feed their kids and pay bills etc
That said, crime victims assistance will pay to move him from his current home to another home including lease breaking, moving truck, deposit and new housing. So no real need for aside from maybe the expenses of missing work in general. **shrug**

How wonderful that you have fostered some children!!! I've fostered many a dog...

My next to youngest got the flu and it was super scary - he doesn’t get sick often but when he does it’s baaaad. He was on the threshold for needing IV and hospital intervention.
He has had to have that before, with strep because he couldn’t eat or drink and he didn’t tell me he didn’t feel well until he was at the point of needing hospitalization. I remember being so angry with myself at the time for not noticing but he truly didn’t act any different than usual.
My youngest has what is called cyclical vomiting, and without his preventive he throws up daily. It doesn’t affect his weight or appetite or anything else other than his teeth. It’s comorbid with his autism. It’s quite alarming when it happens, the preventive doesn’t truly stop all of it. I had him at the doctor weekly until we got it figured out. First his GP then specialists because it is concerning with a child vomiting often! He also has other issues which we have addressed with medications using trial and error until we find the medicine and dosage that works best for him.
Im not sure what the point of this post was other than to say, when your child is sick how can a concerned parent ignore it to just ‘the medicine isn’t working because he’s still sick’ ?!?!

Why doesn't NG ask JH when was the last time he actually spoke with his son?
I also wonder if JH face timed with Lucas after his injury in Jan and what did Lucas tell him happened? So many questions that NG could ask but doesn't.

I think the first question there would be really helpful now they're not going to be a trial for EG. Not just the date but the context, was Lucas actually on screen and chatting or was he in bed asleep and EG just pointed the camera at the bed for JH to whisper "goodnight, bubba".

The second is trickier to ask, but it would be very interesting to know if it could be asked carefully. We don't know if JH took Lucas aside and asked him about these injuries without EG being around. We don't know how he might have asked, whether it was an open question of "how did this happen?" or whether JH just took EG's word for all the injuries and never really asked Lucas. And if he asked Lucas about EG's treatment of him when all these abuse allegations were made and CPS came around to question them, did JH ask Lucas privately and assure he wouldn't get into trouble for the true answer, or was it more "EG's okay with you isn't she?" ... while EG was in the next room and maybe not enough sense of safety for Lucas to open up.

I don't know if that second question is so much about what happened to Lucas or just satisfying our curiosity, though. We have the words of relatives, we have the CPS report, we know it happened. JH would have options for answers, truth or lie, surface truth, deep truth, or lie. If he says he was clueless he gets castigated and accused of lying. If he says deep down he wasn't really sure, he gets castigated and possibly put on trial for neglect and endangerment. If he lies and says he knew nothing, we don't really learn anything from the lie.

The first question could also potentially be answered with a lie...but that goes to the case of Lucas' death, which is the thing we have the biggest questions over. We know Lucas was abused by EG, we don't know exactly the circumstances of Lucas' death, so it's information on the latter that I find more intriguing.

So if we had a wishlist of questions for NG to ask JH, things relating to the possible COD and timetable, things JH can answer without needing to share what he's been told by LE, what would be on that list?

When did JH last see/communicate with Lucas, and what were the circumstances?
Did JH go to the doctor's appointment with Lucas over the vomiting?
What did the doctor say about a possible reason for the vomiting?
Was there a follow-up appointment when the zofran didn't seem to be helping?

It would be a waste of public funds/resources to bring charges against a dead person if that’s what you meant.

It’s the very reason I strongly believe a coroners inquest wold be appropriate in this case. EG is dead, there will be no trial thus an inquest can answer many of these questions and lingering doubts. It is a public process much like a trial with a jury of 6 and witnesses are called. The Coroner is seated as the Judge.

If you meant charges at the time EG was last in custody, the minute the DA files charges certain deadlines/clocks start ticking. IE RIght to a speedy trial is one very important as well as some discovery. LE needs time. And the autopsy needs to be complete.

For example if he had charged EG within the 72 hours after her arrest, and hypothetically Lucas COD came back as a flu, bacterial infection and very weak or no evidence of abuse, he’d be in a difficult position of having to revise to lesser charges.

A defense attorney would have a field day with that revision. And any crime, such as neglect might get lost in the rhetoric the defense would create for reasonable doubt regarding the lesser charges.

A DA has to be careful when charging and have enough good sound evidence for each charge against a defendant.

Sorry hope it’s clear. Pain is clouding my brain today

Your mention there of something called cyclical vomiting affecting teeth makes me think of Lucas' teeth. We don't really know exactly what happened there. I was just wondering if there was a latent digestive problem that up to then had only been causing reflux, which might have been enough to affect the teeth. Not being a medical professional of any kind I don't know enough, but if there was nighttime reflux I'd have thought maybe relatives might have noticed something when Lucas went to stay overnight with them, if it was a constant thing, and if he started vomiting due to internal damage there's more of a chance of blood in the vomit, and that should take a parent straight to the ER???

What do you mean we don't know what happened there? We know he was born with a cleft palate, and it led to issues with his ability to eat right after birth, and it caused the issues with his teeth. We learned that very early on.

Are there any quotes from Tim Miller regarding JH?

I have not seen any but would be interested in Tim's assessment of JH, both when he was there searching and now. I can't help but wonder if he was talking about JH behaviors and statements when he said this case was similar to Caylee's.
