Yep, it was like that when I went to Greece and other European countries too. It amazes me in this day and age how primitive some toilet systems are compared to what we have in the UK!

I never experienced that in any of the 15+ European countries I visited.

Back on the topic - It was reported that a blood-stained tissue was found in the bathroom.

Apparently that's what happened:

According to her 35-year-old companion, however, it was blood on her nose, as she had a nosebleed the night before she disappeared and even went to the bathroom to clean her nose with tissue.

Specialist geolocating equipment has been deployed by Greek police searching for a missing British woman on the island of Ikaria.

Police officers, firefighters, the coastguard and volunteers have all been involved in looking for her, and they have now been joined by a new unit boasting top-of-the-line gear as the search is stepped up.

They arrived via military helicopter to lend their assistance, with the operation focused on rugged areas.

Are there security cameras at the hotel? If she left alone at 8am for a jog, that should be on camera (if they have cameras). Likewise, if he left the hotel with a bundle, that should be on camera too.

That's a very good question. CCTV played a crucial role for LE in cracking the Eaton case.
CCTV is somewhat common in hotels and private businesses in Greece. I don't know where she was staying, or if they had cameras.

Another unfortunate disappearance, of another female scientist who was out jogging on a Greek island. Greek media are reporting that police specialists from Athens carrying geolocation equipment have arrived on Ikaria to try and locate her cell phone. The same media are also reporting that LE are concerned about the fact that, according to her medical records, the lady has (unnamed) psychological problems.

The article you linked also states that so far, there's no indication that her partner is involved in her disappearance, as there were no contradictions in his statements or strange behavior on his part.

I notice it's rather remote. Wonder where the maid, who heard voices/shouting is located? Lives elsewhere and drives to the houses for cleaning? Doesn't seem a like a hotel with main desk, etc. but rental houses?

i'm not sure what the laws and regulations are for cctv footage in greece, but i do live in europe and the country (and metropolitan city) i live in does NOT allow these cameras (due to data protection laws) all over the place like they are in the USA. i would guess that this especially remote area does not have cctv, but it's just a guess. someone correct me if i'm wrong. MOO.

It's allowed in Greece to have CCTV to monitor your property and/or business for security purposes.

Looks like two well-equipped studio houses in the middle of nowhere. The kind of place you stay at with your SO during the honeymoon stages of your relationship and that feels untolerably remote during later relationship stages, JMO! Someone observed about her FB page that there aren't any photos of the two of them together nor any clear mention of a boyfriend or relationship, at all, so perhaps they were new, or perhaps she's just a very private person.

that is correct, and something i found interesting, too. she appeared, on fb, to be alone on her vacation. there were a few comments, or at least one, with mentions of meeting her there in the upcoming days (from female(s), but no mention of bf or pics.

This is a link to the website for the organization run by the victim. Its in english and one of the few things I could find to possibly tell us more about her. She identifies herself as a Greek Cypriot and says she founded the organiztion with a friend of hers that is a Turkish Cypriot if I recall. Their goal with the organization is to get girls doing sport and to provide a bridge between the two communities. The victims intro was inspiring IMO.
